Alternate Timeline Building Experiment, v1.0

Grajaj Allaince: Continue to fight for more resources. They will try and push their ideals on their nieghbors in an attempt to gain allies and power.

Holy Shyin Empire: Slowly try to modernize. Many of their people will continue to go east in an attempt to find better farm land.

United Furotoca: War will most likely break out between the monarchies and democracies of Europe. United Furotoca will use its modern navy to cause trouble in the Americas, making communication between Aarut colonies difficult. Blockades will also hurt the monarchies a lot. Furotocan warfare will also be majorly based on putting the average soldier at as little risk as possible. Tanks, protective armor, and tough defensive positions will be used commonly.

Thanks, again! :salute:

Deadline is now three days away from the time of this post, in accordance with LightFang's wishes.

Also, our military goal is to protect our allies, harrass the Japanese and to keep them of the best quality possible. For Yanshi there is a heavily trained core callled Yuen Army that is well trained and armed. It will be in three main groups: Assualt, Defensive and Marines.

A trained Militia will be mobilized in war. All of them will be in synthetic armour. They will be in five groups: Line Infantry, Advance Infantry, Defensive Infantry, Occupation Infantry and Patrol Infantry.

Armour will be in 5 groups. Assualt light Armour with average armour and smaller main guns but two machine guns. Marine Assualt with a wide base and a shorter stronger gun. Mobile Bombariers which are heavy guns with infantry support that bombard enemy positions but can retreat in case of a breakout and Armoured Infantry Carriors/Fighting Infantry Carriors

Armoured Infantry Carrriers are transporst mainly with machine guns. AIC
FICs have a small auto turret and machine guns to support the infantry after they landed.

The official deadline is now 1 and a bit days away.

Also, I'd like to apologise for the lack of feedback. I've been distracting myself with other things. Very hypocritical of me I know :(

Here are some late replies:

Specific orders will come later, but I was thinking that this might set the stage for a cascade effect towards a great world war that has been alluded to in the past few updates. Let me know if you think this is an appropriate manner for doing so :)

@Nick014, I'm very happy with what you posted. If you want to leave it at that for this turn then that is fine. Although, things might not work out exactly the way you describe :)

How about the points as Government Spending and an seperate area of Public Works.

Hmm maybe later, its just that I'm trying to avoid turning this into a real NES with real stats… knowing me, it would take three times as long to do the updates, and it would stall like DaftNES :(

Many have tried, none have succeeded, my empire is eternal.

I honestly wanted Varaka to have disappear from the map by this stage, but then I could never think of any good reason for that happening :)

I have updated my previous post with more information for you Daft.

Much appreciated, although is it ok if I assume a couple of those industry points are actually going into the construction of your uber cool capitol (also, any preference for the name of the city) ?

You couldn't kill her off, just to damn awesome.

Vesakara or Vesakarai

Major influence: Amasa Empire
Lesser influence: Colmassa protectorate, Matac Kingdom, Zanac Kingdom

Amasa Empire: 2
Zanac Kingdom: 2

Amasa: Pushes to modernize industry as tensions rise with neighboring Zanac. 1pt towards increased industry, 1pt towards larger navy.

Colmassa: Continues to be marginalized by neighbors and colonists. Core group of leaders still hold on to old culture and hatred of modernization. Younger members of society are trying to adapt or migrating to neighboring nations/kingdoms where their labor is taken advantage of.

Matac: Spends much effort to gain a presence on Atlantic coast and maximize cross continent trade routes. Spends any pts on improved river navigation (deeper channels, better water vehicles)

Zanac: Tensions rise with Amasa over power and influence of the region. 1pt towards better relations with Suraj 1pt towards better relations with Tezan

Marzhung invest 4 in Industry, 1 in science I want to control the oil to Varaka and anyone else near me, aim to figure out a means of distributing oil and making it more efficient for use to give it an edge over all other sources. Zealously guard this technology from everyone else. Set up Oil Ke-Marzhung a massive international company that will aim to buy up and control oil assets, whilst using our technology to out compete everyone else in the business, by zealously guard I mean station troops with explosives to blow the lot up should anyone come a knocking. Use the companies influence to drive out competition and increase its hold on the oil market allowing it to build technology to keep ahead of competitors. Become a major arms manufacturer and arm the Covenant in exchange for access to oil and mining options, do the same with Thereska Sarvikova. Aim to modernize and generally use the Varakans as technological piggy backs to new and better things. Inch further towards proper democracy, the Emperor is already a figurehead.

The Marzhung state will more or less keep itself to itself, cultivating good relations with the Varakan as ever, keep up relations with Thereska Sarvikova as well, and the Sezvyr Covenant. In the advent of war support our Varakan allies only when necessary and to defend the integral interests of Marzhung, including keeping the Varakans fight and buying our oil.

Thereska Sarvikova

Cultivate good relations with the Marzhung, and arm yourself with their weapons against your mutual enemy Poneb. In advent of war owing to Marzhung overtures to remain neutral honor that agreement.

TIANDISHI EMPIRE

Bring it on, baby.

Tiandishi Empire: 8

Not too bad. 6th place among all the nations. I CAN LIVE WITH THAT.

-3 points in more industry. Build, baby, build! Mobilize the masses. Have them work for us. Factories that belch smoke in the air that we're trying to reduce because we realize how important the environment is due to our Yuenren influence. Heavy industry, light industry, medium industry, who cares, we'll build it. We Tiandishi are not choosy, having still that pragmatic spirit that calls to us from thousands of years ago.

-3 points in technology. Anything and everything. Steal from everyone shamelessly. Form research teams with friendly countries (Huiyan and Yanshi). Rob blueprints from foreign ones ([Japanese]). We'd like to be cutting-edge on a knife carved with lasers out of obsidian. That means clean and efficient. And hopefully new.

-1 point in civil infrastructure/monuments. Build towers that scratch the sky (skyscratchers, haha). Glimmering buildings that reflect the sight of a shiny city. Bright lights, big cities. Maybe some grand pretty useless status symbol like THE HALL OF ANCESTORS in the capital (Tiandijing--Sky-Earth Capital) that functions as a worship place, a museum, and a symbol all in one. With grand chambers devoted to emperors and small hallways devoted to inconsequential ones, a wealth of knowledge can be stored here.

-1 point in Military Tactics Increase. If I have to pick, focus on the army. We will defeat those [Japanese]. To do that we need to think smarter, not harder. We already have a huge army. All we need to do is to use it effectively. Not this human wave tactic stuff. No, no, we need overwhelming force, but in a concentrated manner.

-----

WHAT WE WILL FIGHT FOR: Ever since the fanaticism has calmed down (without the empire imploding on itself, thank God), we're just regular jingoists now, without the whole God thing mucking things up. We still don't like the [Japanese]. That's why we have that informal alliance with Huiyan and Yanshi. Hell, I think it's a good idea to have this trilateral alliance written up so it can be laid out in stone as a stark warning to the [Japanese]. Also so they don't try to back out of anything and leave us hanging.

Of course, that's not to say that we won't help them. We're willing to help...because of reciprocal altruism. Hey, we got [Hainan] back that way. What if they give us some more secrets of their technology?

We also have to be hard on those who don't like monarches. Huiyan and Yanshi are friendly, and plus it doesn't pay to alienate your closest enemies, but we are not afraid to strike against those who speak out against us or our system of government. I'm sure there are some pansy liberals out there who feel that our system of government is too "authoritarian". Well, suck it. The existence of our alliances with Huiyan and Yanshi should show that we are not all bad.

HOW HARD ARE WE PREPARED TO FIGHT: Total war. Hell, we'll give 120% if we have to. Obedience to the Emperor. If he demands it, he will get it. Pragmatism means that the people won't mind. And jingoism means that they might actually take pride in it. Who knows. Hopefully it won't get that far.

TECHNOLOGIES/WEAPONS/TACTICS TO FOCUS ON: As I've said, before, but I'll reiterate:

Technology: I like clean, efficient technology. Anything they have, we'll take and improve. Set up scholar exchange programs. Or, hell, since I'm going down this path: set up the International Baccalaureate Program, an educational program that is a leading university entrance course that seeks to be known worldwide.

Weapons: Big bombs to awe the enemy, dropped from fast planes. Huge tanks to mop the enemy up, with large guns to make them craters. Storm with infantry at the end with long-range high-powered rifles. I'm really vague, but you should get the drift. Just go along with the time period is all I'm asking.

Tactics: Less Russian "human wave tactics", more intelligent, tactical tactics. More suppression, smart moving, intelligent retreating, stuff like that. Not just "OVER THE TOP!" stuff.

-----

Draw the vassal states closer in orbit (Yienvai, Naga, Dharaj Alliance, Zui-Ko Protectorate, Juray Protectorate, any others I missed). Maybe even relax some demands on them (except for the Zui-Ko Protectorate, Shynin unrest must be stopped). Since we've had some of them for a long time, maybe they would not be averse to us outright annexing them? We could buy the politicians off...Of course it would be peaceful. The last thing we need is a civil war. And about the militant Shynists in the Zui-Ko Protectorate: I'm sure that if we invest enough in the region, ties will be cemented between us and they will calm down after they see the marvels of technology!

Play off the rivalry between the Huiyan/Yanshi and the Takaraji. If the [Koreans] rely on us more and help us, we can help them more. And combined we can destroy the Takaraji. It is in everyone's mutual self-interest (well, except the Takaraji). Try to convince the [Koreans] that to expand the colonial empire is in their best interests too--we cannot lose the prestige game against the [Japanese]. Spurred by the Tiandishi success in colonization, we will also try to take some from other countries, with whatever it takes. If a colonial war erupts, try to keep it isolated to a colony, and once it's won or lost, do not extend it over the mainland. It's a gentleman's thing. If the [Japanese] violate this, then we have a good casus belli and the people will be rallied.

You know what, we don't like Shynism either. There was a great success with the Tiandishi-Shyin war, 1925-27. Any pretext should do...we can bleed them to death with our troops...especially using the Zui-Ko Protectorate as a base of operations, to spearhead our way in.

-----

All of this above may make it sound like we are bloodthirsty, but we're not! We're the Enlightened of the East. It's just that, we're not above throwing our weight around, especially with [Korean] backing. So be it.

And if we do ever war with [Japan], by golly I want [Formosa]. It's disgusting, to have an enemy base so near the mainland. It's going to be pretty much the first thing we take.

-----

Edit: I am so sorry that this is rambly and disjointed. I don't know what happened. Forgive me. Let me say everything every clearly in the end (not the spending because that should be simple enough [and please don't just read this summary and don't read my wall of tl;dr.]).

-We don't like the [Japanese].
-We like the [Koreans], make an official alliance with them.
-Bring our vassals closer to us, maybe even annex them outright.
-More colonies because we were so successful in Indonesia. Maybe we can take all of Indonesia? We can also wrest colonies away from [Japan].
-We don't like the Shynists either, invade them.

Sarvonian culture

Major influence:

The United Furotoca (14): 4 Points to General Technology Increase, 1 Point to encouraging liberal revolutions in the tiny Eastern Kingdoms, 1 Point to building the 'Yansalan Canal', 4 Points to increasing Navy Size, 3 Points to increasing Navy Training, 1 Point to Increasing Civil Infrastructure.

Court and make friendly overtures to the nations of Central Europe, and towards the Tezan. If war should break out- and we really don't want a war', we will want many friends.

Thereska Sarvikova (4): 1 Point to encouraging the ideals of Pan-Sarvonian unity, in terms of alliance and even political unification, 2 Points to increasing air force training, 1 Point to increasing army size.

Generally maintain the peace, but if our neighbours (particularly the Poneb or Varakans) become aggressive, we must do the same to them in order to protect ourselves.

One particularly strong proponent of the liberal, pan-Sarvonian movement is Pyoti Resveryk, a politician of rather high standing who aspires to someday achieve a position of democratic leadership.

Keyzad of Urgury (<1): Increase army training. Keep closely allied with the Furotocas. Work through diplomacy to try and avoid warfare from breaking out on a large scale. The Kezy throughout this period is the aging, but still hale, Belicosz II.

Lesser influence:

Holy Yansalan Kingdom (<1): Consider unity with the Tezan Empire, becoming a simple microstate of religious authority.
Garakal Katanates (<1): Merzoll, a rebel leader, will continue the Garakal/Nayir desert raiders against the Varakans.
Holy Tezan Empire (5): Warm up towards the Furotocas, for protection against the Varakan threat.
Great Keyzad of Marzhung (5): Continue to have pro-democracy groups pop up in the country.
Thuratica of Zevon (<1): After a few unpopular leaders, pro-annexationists will arise, and Zevon will join Tyzansk, Nadzavosk, and the Savisias in the Thereska Sarvikova.
Sezvyr Covenant (2): Calming down, the Sezvyr Covenant will develop a series of coalition governments, working to increase the industrial and exporting capacity of the nation.
Zanac Kingdom (2): Continue to develop and rise in population.
Keyzad of Sariv (Poneb vassal) (<1): Be a little disgruntled about Poneb dominance, requesting complete independence from outside forces. Pan-Sarvonians may take root here.

You honour me greatly  (<- thats me bowing in thanks)

Thankyou so much :salute:

Deadline of Death hath now passed, except that I'll probably still accept orders for some parts of the world.

Iggy I think you've missed the boat... to my understanding I am Democratic, with a much reduced Emperor or Constitutional Monarch. I've spent more than a few turns liberalizing, I'm not an autocracy, and haven't been for at least a hundred years or so.

Yanshi declares Suraji Protetorates in the New World bad and proceeds to send people to South America to establish protectorates to defend ourselves/trade!

In that case, then my efforts are probably directed at increasing the liberal bent of the Marzhung.

I'm sorry: I have not had time to send in orders, and I still don't really.

Imperial Aarut Republic
Reform into a federation incorporating most of their dependencies.

WWII is good with me. Death to Democracy!

Experiment: a map of world flashpoints, set sometime around 1945: (somewhat overdone in my usual style :) )

Spoiler :
Earth-Blank-Northern-D2-age17flashp.png

EDIT: forgot to say, the 'fists' represent popular movements, but not necessarily violent ones.
The stereotypical 'bombs' represent terrorist activity and/or small-scale fighting.
The 'flames' represent something more serious, like border conflicts between countries.

Since some of these things could lead to global war, I'd like to give you the participants a chance to choose how your countries will react, like trying to calm things down or choosing to push things further, rather than me deciding everything. I'm not asking for more orders, just a word or two, if you feel like it :)

If this idea proves acceptable, and/or things are heading in the direction of world war, then I might make a series of these maps for each year or so, with a chance for you to make some more decisions inbetween. I'll still make a proper update at the end of it all.

I don't see the Marzhung as being all that democratic just yet :) I think the Sarvonians could still try to sway the Marzhung people with their 'style' of democracy, or else their angle could be that the Furotocanist countries help each other out, and could help the Marzhung break free from Varakan interference, etc.

Xanto/Panto

Officially-Maintain peace with Aarut, move in and occupy regions that they lose control of or abandon. Standing army is used mainly to defend the borders to the south and west

Unofficially-Funnel money and arms to guerrilla fighters, provide any support necessary. Plant operatives to incite more rebellion. focus on former Panto territories first, then anywhere else they might make a gain.

Officially: Act like trying to calm down Anti-Surajians and really calm down Shynish Rebels in our allies.

Unofficially: In the talks pass over weapons, give them the tools to block of the supplies of Suraji Support, "Convict Invasions" rock Suraji colonies supposidly by refugees. Huge Terrorists Associations in Those areas. Make Radar and AA to protect from attack. Later retake Taiwan from Suraji in the cloak of a popular revolt, which is unlikely but will gain global support as we 'Help' the Surajins (by killing them) and handing it over to Suraji, with all puppet managers. Always be prepared for war and have stockpiles of hundreds of thousands of weapons, armour and vechicles ready to be assembled or leased to others.

TIANDISHI EMPIRE

Ew, what is this disgusting Krashenist Uprisings doing in my empire? Equality? Power to the masses? What is this, some sort of utopia?

Well. Here's how we'll respond. If they're nonviolent, we'll let them stay...but if they turn violent, well, all hell will break loose and they will be crushed.

We wouldn't be adverse to, if they gain too much support from the masses, instigating some of our own violence (secretly) with spies or something and pinning the blame on them. But that's a last resort sort of deal.

The Dharaj Alliance is having border problems with the Grajaj Alliance? I think we should help by sending military advisers who just happen to have guns and training and also volunteers who happen to come from the army.

Terrorism due to those nasty Shynist fanatics should be put down. Maybe crushing their empire will teach them some humility. Especially that Yadal Kingdom.

And help those Mingdebuist fanatics everywhere! Though, um, unofficially. I don't think that needed to be said, but who knows...send in those equipment and "advisers" and whatnot. Help them to fight a guerrilla war. After all: their knowledge of the land + our manpower + determination = victory! I hope anyway.

Although, please try not to let the Saikaran-Tiandishi naval skirmishes reach a full-blown war. Maybe enlist the Huiyan and the Yanshi to our side as a deterrent. Though, it does seem to be working, as we're coordinating to snatch colonies away from Saikaran.

Matac: Continue attempts to expand down Amazon. Only pull back if Suraji colonies start making gains.

Zanac: Attempt to bring in assistance from Tezan and Suraj against Aarut colonies.

Amasa: Show support for Aarut by attempting to provide assistance to their local military issues.

Colmasa: Support anti-Suraji movement nearby.
