The
Mantahu Republic will open trade ties with the European colonists, giving them agricultural tools, food, etc in exchange for horses and firearms. They send samples of the advanced technologies to the Lantan monasteries for research. They also invite colonists into the heart of their state to see the glorious architecture of the Lantan Temples, in hopes of converting them.
The
Akanto Empire, torn by disease and without its grand crusade to keep it united, splinters into several smaller, militaristic states. Some (the more Lantan-influenced, civilized states) elect to join the Mantahu Republic for protection. Some, particularly the Xanauk and several southern areas, become independent kingdoms.
In the
Xante States (and by extension, Lantan followers across the continent), a new High Priest comes to power. Struggling to find answers for his war-torn and plague-stricken people, he declares the past century the
Great Nightmare, and that this is the time of the
Great Awakening. As the plague runs its course, the survivors see a great revival of cultural and scientific interest. The mountain monasteries work with European muskets, and use their knowledge of physics (which I tried to stress as a priority a couple ages ago) to try and improve them.
The
Antehautu Empire, still closely linked to the Lantan establishment, begins to produce its own firearms and tries to breed horses brought over from European colonists.
OOC: I agree a summary/list of how advanced/powerful the major cultures are would be a helpful addition. Maybe incorporate it into the next update or something
