Alternate Timeline Building Experiment, v1.0

GROSSDEUTSCHLAND IS STUBBORN. LONG LIVE AMESTRIS!

I love the update, Daft. As ever you have a happy talent for composition and a remarkable felicity of expression. A fabulous read!

I've edited a few mistakes, and it seems sections of text keep dissapearing or moving around with every edit. Please let me know if anything seems odd :)

Awww, so Ceyloni's back but I don't have it? Oh well.

I edited the list thing, you should have control of it!

Great update Daft. Can you make a list of the top powers all around? Like based on military and technology.

Hmm, I will think about that.

Thankyou!

I noticed a few lines on SE asia / indonesia / Zul peoples had vanished. I added them back in, but hope that hasn't caused something else to dissapear.

Repeated here for convinience:
Spoiler :

South-east Asia was the scene of civil war and fragmentation, partly as a result of disease, partly due to religious turmoil, and partly due to disruption of trade. Around 1550 AD, the Naga peoples, previously vassals of the Tiandishi-influenced Ayutashai Empire, were able to rise up and carve out kingdoms of their own. The Tiandulong peoples also conquered new lands - by 1625 AD they were known as the Dienvai.

The Dagon Empire reached a height around 1540 AD, with victories over the Ayutashai and new gains of territory in mainland Asia, before suffering civil war and fragmenting - like many other empires of the time - into smaller states. These remained by 1625 AD, but trade routes were still able to recover. Meanwhile, 'Classical' Zul seafaring culture seems to have disappeared at this time, absorbed into the island cultures of the east (and into Australia in some cases). Most of the kingdoms, chiefdoms and tribes (including the 'Zuli') claim some kind of joint ancestry from the ancient Zul.

Anyone else ever have problems with chunks of text going missing when editing a post?

Good Update, results were better then I thought as well, thanks Daft :)

Kronahar Empire: Looking at the Aestian Empire, the Kronahar and Tarith Kingdoms agree to a Royal Alliance. In 1641, King Canut unifies the Kingdoms into the Bretonian Empire, and kicks the Amersile out of the isles for good. The Empire sets up its first colony shortly after in New Breton (OTL Massachustes).

Amersile/Kilayms: After Amersile lost its Bretoch territories, many lords who held land in that area complained loudly about the Kingdom's inefficiency. The Amersile attempted more colinization, but to no avail, and the Amersile dynasty was ousted from rule. Kilayms was also suffering political turbulence, due to Amersile and Bretonian raids into their territory. Looking at the mighty Tagar Union, The Amersile and Kilayms decided they were a larger foe, and unified in 1650. Ten years later, the unified kingdom was absorbed by Tagar, creating the Tagar Empire

Great update.

Now I will finally stop letting myself be NPCed and unify this bloody thing called "China" once and for all!

The Mantahu Republic will open trade ties with the European colonists, giving them agricultural tools, food, etc in exchange for horses and firearms. They send samples of the advanced technologies to the Lantan monasteries for research. They also invite colonists into the heart of their state to see the glorious architecture of the Lantan Temples, in hopes of converting them.

The Akanto Empire, torn by disease and without its grand crusade to keep it united, splinters into several smaller, militaristic states. Some (the more Lantan-influenced, civilized states) elect to join the Mantahu Republic for protection. Some, particularly the Xanauk and several southern areas, become independent kingdoms.

In the Xante States (and by extension, Lantan followers across the continent), a new High Priest comes to power. Struggling to find answers for his war-torn and plague-stricken people, he declares the past century the Great Nightmare, and that this is the time of the Great Awakening. As the plague runs its course, the survivors see a great revival of cultural and scientific interest. The mountain monasteries work with European muskets, and use their knowledge of physics (which I tried to stress as a priority a couple ages ago) to try and improve them.

The Antehautu Empire, still closely linked to the Lantan establishment, begins to produce its own firearms and tries to breed horses brought over from European colonists.

OOC: I agree a summary/list of how advanced/powerful the major cultures are would be a helpful addition. Maybe incorporate it into the next update or something :)

Anu-Karac Kingdom- continue expanding and start preparing a navy (with kamikaze explosive-laden ships if possible) to protect the kingdom from other countries trying to colonize it.

^Thanks again :salute:

I'm setting a deadline of 48 hours from the time of this post, whatever time that is in your part of the world, for any orders/input/arguments...

You are reminded that only a few words are needed!

I decided not to do that. I'm already overcomplicating this and slowing it down, it was supposed to have reached the modern age already. I don't want to make this into a proper NES since I already have one hibernating (DaftNES)...

Marzhung Ketunda:

1. Marzhung I rises to the throne of all Marzhung on a pile of his competitions bones,
2. Ally with the Varakan Empire, and try to coalesce into a proper “state” with an orderly succession and all that,
3. Adopt tactics and weapons from them [The Varakan],
4. Proceed to go on a campaign of terror and occupation against whoever is weakest.

Can I forsake my people-control position and throw out a random calamity like a random DEVASTATING STORM DEVASTATING ENOUGH NOT ONLY TO DEVASTATE TEMPORARILY BUT CHANGE ENTIRE SOCIETIES?

In any case my chars are NPC'd, aye.

OK, well Tuzan culture will probably survive till the end now, so if you ever change you mind feel free to send any input.

Understood. Either way, each update is great beyond words :D

Orimudian Alliance: Continue preaching the word of Orimudis.
show that this land shelters the oppressed and welcomes those who will accept Orimudis as their guide and protector.

Saratian Empire (shared): Mixed religions in the region cause similar problems from the last era. Those who take disdain in the attacks on the Orimudian and those who probably dont care.

Mutyl Kingdom (slight influence): Worried more about Yansalan dominance and will fight off attacks and try to diminsh their power over the north Mediterranean. Perhaps some see benefit in supporting Orimudians with a common enemy.

Vespe Kingdoms (shared):Struggling to unify and fight off other invaders and agressors. Capitalize off Mutyl being preoccupied by dealing with their problems.

Sumetche Empire (slight influence): Dislike Yansalan dominance in the eastern Meditereanean many support action against Yansala.

Okay, lets get these priorities out of the way for the time being.

Takaraji Union: Will continue to consolidate its gains in the North and continue to slowly integrate those under its control now within those regions, and will encourage/sponsor continued expansion amongst the Waeulta chiefdoms into the remainder of the former Sakhalin Island and making steps to do the same against the Tunuk tribe as well. Of course the Takaraji will follow up on these ventures with its own colonist in order to speed up the integration and the development of these new territories, while maintaining a strong military presence throughout the main Islands against any further intervention and aggression by the Jureg Kingdoms, continuing the initial privateering and raiding from last turn as well. A follow up expedition should also be made by the Takaraji to further the ones made to North America, one where they begin to move and secure an outpost in the islands of the Kamewai chiefdoms.

Yujin Kingdom: Undergo some liberal reforms based on increased reliance of mercantile trade and becomes a republic, though still moving to take up the slack Takaraji has left in the South while it focuses on the north, thus causing the Yujin to continue its own explorations and setting up colonies along the South West Pacific Islands and slight expansion against the northernmost Island owned by the Taraygaru Kingdoms that they have already settled on and push them further south into the central Philippines. Of course they will continue to grow and maintain a strong naval power in order to guard these new gains, and old ones as well.

Juray Kingdom: Continue to expand, grow, and trade throughout the region, especially furthering the gains they have in the Southernmost Islands of the Phillipines and taking them completely, thus forcing the Taraygaru back even further into the central islands and thus causing them to unite into a central Kingdom to ward off any further pressure from the Yujin and Juray

Kalik Kingdoms: Rational thinking and logic begin to become very popular in the Kalik Kingdoms, leading to more unity.
Shyin Kingdom: Begin to push east, seeking to escape the influence of the Wainists. Also, Syhinist are begining to migrate more into the Far East in large numbers.
Guraj Empire: Move east, taking land away from Muai. Start to clear forests and jungles to make way for railroads.
Kaj Empire: Kaj ships will venture to the south-east, attempting to colonie the islands there. Superior technology should allow soldeirs to defeat the forces there.

Sarvonian Culture

Vespe Kingdoms
Begin to calm down, and begin to develop a fierce interest in faith and the sciences. Unity may come sometime soon.

Keyzad of Serezyl
Begin to adapt more advanced military technology, wage occasional wars to expand our borders.

Keyzad of Nadzavosk
Continue to spread Waina, developing many religious edifices and becoming famed for our architectural prowess.

Sariv Kingdoms
Have one influential kingdom, Variv, ally with the Sezatians against the Poneb Empire. After a successful war is waged, unite the Sariv under our banner.

Sezat Kingdom
Ally with Variv and wage war against the Poneb. When this war is complete, begin to eye the lands of the Marzhung Ketada. If they are weakening or falling apart, conquer their lands.

Vonoth Kingdom
Expand along the rivers, build up a strong military.

Keyzad of Savisia
Become quite strongly Wainist (if we aren't already) and keep our military strong. Begin to develop a Scientific tradition, working with the Sumetche.

Saratian Empire
Grow rich off controlling the Bosphorus, and use that money to sustain a large army, for frequent wars against the Orimudans.

Yansala Empire
Continue to work to spread the faith. Begin to gentrify, developing many great temples and universities.

Garakal Kingdom
Work to reconquer the Garak Katan, try to maintain our trading strength.

Tezan Kingdom
Begin to eye the new world, and launch colonizing expeditions. First, start up trade posts on the coast of OTL North America. Then, in one lightly-settled, pleasant region, drop a first colony, Degan.

Yanshi-Nanxun

Begin to form Colonies on Islands and America mostly for Seals. Seal hunters will travel there, arrive at a fort populated by other peoples. Then when they are done they return. The seals are used for delicacies, lamp oil. And bone carving. First Fort/town: Du Yuan.

Kingdom of Yanshi will send soldiers to advance north and establish a seperate Kingdom there. It will be a jump stone to the New World.

Renewal will be full blast. Great Ships and Fleets will explore the Old World while Science and learning Blooms. Acadamies of ancient learning and new techniques appears in the Northern and Yanshi cities.

(will my shrinking culture survive?)

Hom Kingdom Priorities: Create colonies on the Southern tip of Africa, while annexing the Nacubi States, but similar to French Louisiana, with not much of an impact.
Manzuru Kingdom: Take advantage of the turmoil and attack the Mahala States while encouraging the Pargi-Saban and Mahanba to help.
Zhulharasa States: Attack the Kaj Kingdom while simultaneously unifying and strengthening.
Ceyloni Kingdom: Discover Australia and establish colonies on it, this time more like a stricter version of Britain in the 13 colonies. Fiercely protect against any colonizing attacks and start tinkering with the steam engine.
Dagon Kingdoms: Attack the Ula... southern kingdom on Java.
Ulayashblah Kingdom (Ulaya Kingdom for short): Consolidate Control of New Guinea, while also sending some people to Australia in a French Louisiana style... for now.
Zuli Tribes: With the world mapped out, their old job and profession of exploring is obsolete. With nothing else to do, they must turn to piracy as their only chance of being able to survive.
