OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT
For the Record, Canada never has been, nor never will be involved in the internal Affairs of the United Kingdom. The former Colony of Newfoundland, which is now part of the United Kingdom, is none of Canada's business. Which is why the Canadian Government is not getting involved in the Newfoundland Situation.
The Canadian Government has never supported, nor even heard of the Liberation Forces of Newfoundland until now. They have had no, I repeat, no support from the Canadian Government in any way, shape, or form. Canada, as a peace-loving, Democratic Nation, only wishes that the United Kingdom will resolve the crisis in Newfoundland quickly and efficiently, with a minimal of loss of life. Canada hopes that the United Kingdom remains a Democratic Nation, and follows the due process of Law. Canada also hopes that the situation in the UK ends quickly, so that the Enabling Act provisions can be quickly lifted.
Canada does reccomend to her UK friends and allies that perhaps a Referendum could be held in Newfoundland, so the Newfoundland people can decide their own future.
