EDIT- OH NO! I forgot, my uncle said that I cant use the game today so I will be put to the end of the list so I can at least play the first round tommorrow, cgcannon64, can you make the save??

What, what specifics do you want the map to have? :)

EDIT: I'm glad I'm playing 20, I'm not in the mood to play 40. ;)

OK, my 20 turns:

[Turn 1 - 4000 BC] The start looks good. On a river, three wines, plains, and mountains. The worker moves South, sees nothing of interesting, so we found on the starting spot. We see hills to the North and plains to the West and the East. Weird - we must be on the shortest river ever. It goes three tiles and stops. :lol:

[Turn 2 - 3950 BC] We start Pottery at max sci for 9 turns. Nice.

[Turn 3 - 3900 BC] I decide to mine the Plains Wine. Unusual, yes, but it will give us two food and two shields, not bad. I'll irrigate the other one so we have a balance.

[Turn 4 - 3850 BC] Nothing.

[Turn 5 - 3800 BC] Nothing.

[Turn 6 - 3750 BC] Warrior->Warrior in Perseopolis.

[Turn 7 - 3700 BC] Celtic warrior moves into view from the South. We trade Bronze Working and Masonry for Warrior Code, Burial, and 10g. Warrior explroation reveals that, so far at least, we're in some dry valley. Weird - this map is wet.

[Turn 8 - 3650 BC] Worker finishes roading the Plains Wines, he goes to Irrigate the other one.

[Turn 9 - 3600 BC] Grassland, water, and forests seen to the South.

[Turn 10 - 3550 BC] Warrior->Warrior in Perseopolis.

[Turn 11 - 3500 BC] Pottery done, Iron Working researching at max sci for 23 turns. We can see the Celtic capital to the South, and some jungle.

[Turn 12 - 3450 BC] Irrigation done, but the Plains stays at 2 food. ARGH! :wallbash: Sorry, the last time I played Civ3 it was in my CG10 game as a communist country, so that threw me off balance a bit...I'm going to mine the Plains Wine now.

[Turn 13 - 3400 BC] Warrior->Spear in Perseopolis.

[Turn 14 - 3350 BC] American Scout spotted to the East. We are 2 techs superior to Abe: Burial and Warrior Code. We're up Pottery on the Celts.

[Turn 15 - 3300 BC] Spices spotted to the NW. There are also Dyes to the South. We can easily get the Spices, but the Dye will be harder - its close to the Celtic capital.

[Turn 16 - 3250 BC] Nothing.

[Turn 17 - 3200 BC] Nothing but exploring. The worker finishes roading the second Plains Wine.

[Turn 18 - 3150 BC] Spear->Settler in Perseopolis.

[Turn 19 - 3100 BC] Worker starts clearing forest so we can irrigate Plains.

[Turn 20 - 3050 BC] That's it for me.

[Notes] We should probably expand West to the Coastline and East to the rivers and Ivory first. We're going to need a good core for this game. I'll post a dotmap later.

The save:

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads4/AM7-3050BC.zip

And the dotmap. BTW, this dotmap is very rough. The East is could be changed very easily with exploration, and the southern Western spot could as well.

Ok, good turns, try takeing our the Celts in one turn!!! Easy oppertunity to get some good land out of this!!!! We need an FP very soon and it can easily be placed in thier capitol. We should've started a Granary after the settler ASAP. With so food bonuses and the crappy terrain, we are going to need it very fast. If we take out the Celts it will reduce the pressure alot other than that our wines are nice and we have alot of future trade with all the other luxuries around.

Oh and BTW, I think when you pointed south to "Get the spices!" I think you mean "Dyes" Spices are north. ;) Ok, Dark Savant, you'r next. BTW, I have never started an SG this fast before, I just posted the thread yesterday :).

OK, I got it. How many turns should I play? (If there are no objections, I'll play 20 since it's still early in the game.)

I think we might want to bump green dot 1 south and have that be our Colossus city.

Here are 15 turns' worth of Persian development:

Inherited turn: I was considering not building a granary, but we're doing a forest chop that will be wasted if we keep building the settler. Persepolis swapped to granary.

2950 BC (2) -- The Americans already have a second city.

2710 BC (7) -- Persepolis granary -> settler.

2550 BC (11) -- Iron Working discovered. There are no fewer than three iron sources within easy reach of Persepolis. As it turns out, we discovered Iron Working at the same time as the Celts. I start research on Mysticism, which the Americans have at monopoly.

2510 BC (12) -- Persepolis settler -> warrior.

2430 BC (14) -- Pasargadae founded; Colossus immediately begun. Persepolis warrior -> settler.

2390 BC (15) -- Ooh, the Americans have a worker for sale! :D We can buy it for Iron Working + 2gpt + 8g. However, I will leave this to the next leader; I also don't know if Amirsan thinks this is exploitative. If this trade is acceptable, I think we should take it at once, to make it harder for the Americans to build an early wonder.

Notes to the next leader:

* Our warriors are still scouting. No other civs have been found on my turn.

* Our solo worker is currently improving in the direction of Pasagardae and its wonder build. I would not chop any of the forests near Pasargadae now; Pasargadae could use them for shields.

* Persepolis is one of our best sites for building a wonder. I suggest building two more settlers, and then starting the Pyramids; if we wait much longer we risk getting beat to them.

* I think we should discourage research down the Writing -> Literature/Map Making path -- this will reduce the probability of a cascade to the Great Library or Great Lighthouse. It will, however, delay our cheap libraries.

* Here is my suggested dot map:

My suggestion is to found in rainbow order: red, orange (right on top of iron), yellow, green, blue (which probably should be shifted 1 north). Red, orange, and yellow are all fresh water cities and all claim iron for Persia's exclusive use. :satan: If I were playing this solo under these rules, I would buy the American worker, found on red dot, then orange dot, then start building the Pyramids in Persepolis; I would have red dot and orange dot produce our workers/settlers/military while our wonders complete.

Good luck to our next leader! :)

Download the save file here.

EDIT: I just realized that we should probably bump orange dot one square southwest. We'd have to build another city to claim the ivory near that lake; however, moved orange dot has the advantage of significantly reduced corruption. Red, orange, yellow, and green dots, along with Pasargadae, would then all be the same distance from Persepolis (as Civ 3 distance is not Pythagorean). Since we can fairly easily make a mini-RCP layout here, I think we should do so.

Yes, about the orange dot, make sure you make it 1 southwest. I would take he deal... for the worker. We realy need more workers so I would suggest one more worker from Persopolis and then Start Pyramids. We also realy want to get the GL but if its not possible then we will have to go for the Hanging Gardens. Di I post that if we dont get the last wonder of the age then we have to take it by force??? If not then that was the rule.

OK, how about this:

am7-2390-BC-revised-dot-map.jpg

Red dot: the Americans might beat us to this site. It's a good city site. And it has iron. If we get this site, it should build a temple first :worship:; otherwise it will be culturally pressured by Washington.

Orange dot: another good city site. It has iron too.

Yellow dot: yet more iron.

Green dot: we're going to need to claim some luxuries. This is a good spot to claim.

Blue dot: this claims us some more luxuries. And even more iron.

Purple dot: this really isn't high priority, I think. It's first ring but will take a lot of work to contribute much to our cause.

White dots: tentative sites for cities in the unforeseeable future. Chances are we'll get beaten to the dots near the Celts.

If we find the other civs, and F7 shows that no one (the Chinese in particular) is building a wonder, Persepolis can keep on cranking settlers. Otherwise, I'd start the Pyramids after it produces 2 settlers and a worker.

One problem with claiming so much iron is that it will likely irritate one or both of our neighbors ... we should consider building some barracks and cranking spears.

A newbie question: sorry this is my first saved game upload from CFC. I downloaded the save game, opened it, but then I have to open it with something (running XP). I click browse, then Infrogrames Inetractive, then Civ3, then CivPTW, then Saves, but all there is there is auto, and nothing else.........

I uploaded the save file in a ZIP file (this reduces the size of the file by about 8%, and is a good way of guarding against save file corruption). You will need PKUNZIP, WinZIP, ZipCentral, or some other unzipping program to get the save out of the archive.

If you have not used such a program before at all, let us know.

I have WinZip. I unzipped it, and then opened it. However, it needs to be opened with something and I couldn't find anything compatible in the PTW folder......
