AM7- Wonder Race-- Another Challenge

Hmm. :confused: I'll just upload the unzipped file to speed things up, but in the meantime try to figure out what the deal is -- the file unzips and loads fine on my end, so something is wrong on your end.

Once you take the file out of the archive, you can start Civ III and just load the file like any other save.

Here's the save again.

If you still can't quite figure it out, let me know when it's my turn again.

Also, with one of our players out of the loop, another player to join up would be nice, as we're currently running on only three players.

When I download the first save, I unzipped it. I had to open it with something, so I right clicked it, and then clicked browse. I opened the folder Infrogrames Interactive, then clicked the folder CIV3PTW. Then I clicked the little icon that says Civilization3x (it has the PTW icon on it). It appears to be loading, but then it just creates a new foler called ptw. It has configuration settings in text under it. I opened that, but all it said was
[Civ3PTW]
Voice Quality=0

Note: this sav file is internet form and it is only 63 kb while most of my other saves, even on tiny maps, are at least 1000kb

Argggg lost the turns. I will give the basics of the 15 turns: built 2 more settlers in Peresepolis- starts the Pyramids (can be veoted by next player). Pasargadae had around 65 turns to complete the colossus. Susa founded on red dot. We contact the Chinese, and later do a straight up trade with them: CB for The Wheel.

Hmm, since Amirsan is out of action, isn't cgannon up?

We're kind of short on players here -- another player joining up would be great.

As far as continuing to expand -- I haven't looked at the save, but I think we should take yellow dot and have Persepolis continue on with the Pyramids. We'll have only 4 cities, but that should suffice for now. I think Susa should build a settler next -- I wouldn't spend time on a granary there.

I disagree on continuing with the Pyramids in Perseopolis. I think both wonders should be discontinued and we should build more settlers and workers - we only have two workers now, nowhere near enough to start building wonders, IMO.

I think we need to wait until we have one or two more productive cities before we can build wonders. And we need more workers, enough to get our territory reasonably worked.

I got it, but we're still really low on number of players here -- maybe we should wait until we get another player or two. Regardless, I'll play this evening.

I think that we should continue both wonders (after maybe putting out another worker from Persepolis) -- we're trying to build five of the ancient wonders, and if we don't start now, we're not going to get five of them.

We might only get 6 or 7 cities, but on a small map that's plenty.

Inherited turn: I'm going to continue building the Pyramids in Persepolis, and rely on our other cities for workers and settlers. Not something I'd ordinarily do, but this variant does call for it.

1830 BC (1) -- Mysticism discovered. Susa warrior -> worker. Spot an orange border, probably the English. I'm going to begin a minimum science run on Polytheism, and try to get other techs by trading until then.

1750 BC (3) -- Contact with the English. Arbela founded on yellow dot -> warrior. Trade contacts with the Americans and Celts to the English for contact with the Ottomans. Trade contact with the Chinese to the English for Alphabet. Trade Alphabet to America for their 40g. Trade all three contacts to Ottoland for Writing and their 20g. Istanbul and London are both on the Pyramids.

1675 BC (6) -- Susa worker -> temple.

1625 BC (8) -- Arbela warrior -> warrior.

1500 BC (13) -- Celts begin the Oracle. Arbela warrior -> settler.

1450 BC (15) -- Establish embassy in Istanbul for 49g -- Istanbul is size 3 with one wheat tile, guarded by 2 spears, and has the Pyramids due in 52. Establish embassy in London for 52g -- it's size 4 and the Pyramids are due in 35, and is also guarded by 2 spears. London has very good terrain and we're not going to beat it to the Pyramids -- I swap Persepolis to the Oracle, we should be able to get that. It's due in 33. Embassy in Washington for 33g -- it's size 1, and has a warrior, settler, and a spear present.

Since we won't get the Pyramids, we should build granaries in our other cities sometime. We're pretty much assured to get the Oracle. I'd like to get the Great Library too, but we have no other cities that can build wonders (and we really would like workers and military!) If Literature shows up among the AI's before the Oracle completes, we should trade for it and swap Persepolis to the Great Library (we should be able to beat the other AI's to it).

It doesn't look like we're going to get more than about 5 or 6 cities peacefully. We should commit to building barracks, build a lot of vet warriors, then do the warrior -> immortal mass upgrade and roll over an opponent (the Celts look like the best target). We should be able to pull this off even with a small number of cities.

It looks like none of the other capitals are coastal, so Pasagardae should be a lock for the Great Lighthouse once Map Making comes in.

Download the save here.

Ok, not much has went on sinse I left, but looking good. The celts took our two disired spots... :(. We should stay with Oracle, Collosuss, Hanging Gardens, GL and the Great Wall. Thats five. We need more cities! At least two more nicely placed cities. We should get in a war around the beggining of the Middle Age when not many Wonders are available and then get back to building. Our war effort should go towars the Celts, they are realy crowding us, no good.

Yes, seven cities is good but a little more is better! Below is the amount of territory we should contain;

Not much and not to little, enough to secure. The jungle below us is vital for a future FP, we are industrious and can clear that jungle fast, looks like nice food capability under them. ;)
