Amazon Troubles

Amazon.com is impossible to decipher. It says the delivery estimate is today but it also says my order is being processed. Is this a glitch on their part? Will I get it today or in two days (i ordered with two-day shipping)?

I really want this game so this relatively trivial matter is pissing me off! Has anyone else ordered CivIV from Amazon.com?

I hate to break the news to you but Amazon's shipment got messed up somehow and they are still waiting for it to come in. If you email them about the problem they will upgrade you to one-day shipping and waive the shipping cost. But the new estimated ship date will be Oct 27th/28th with Delivery on 28th-31st.

I pre-ordered it on Oct 19th from Amazon with overnight shipping, but I cancelled the order last night after the mass confusion over the shipping date, and got in a last second pre-order at GameStop. It's gotta be too late for a pre-order by now but if I was you and I wanted to get the game quickly I'd run down to GameStop or EB games, buy a copy, then cancel my pre-order from Amazon. If you email amazon you can get your shipping price waived but they will not be able to tell you when you will get it, so I decided cancelling it was the better option.

I can't even begin to explain how furious I am at amazon right now. I emailed those lying jerks this morning, and rather than get ANY useful information out of them whatsoever, I received a form-fed write-off email stating that I should check with the credit card company (the same company whose credit card worked for 4 other shipments in the past week).

The moral is that my estimated delivery date STILL SAYS yesterday and my order still has not shipped yet. Whether that was through misfortune or deception, I'm not sure, but either way, I now officially hate amazon. I wouldn't count on anything from them if I were you.

I'm never dealing with amazon again, for anything. They are evil.

Same thing for me. Except they didn't waive the shipping and make it one-day. I immediately canceled, and will fight the crowds/cross my fingers at GameStop.

yeah i didnt get my shipping waived either. Est. Shipping date is today/tomorrow. And dont pay too much attention to the est. shipping date, as it is always subject to change. If tomorrow comes around and they still havent shipped, Then theyll just bump it back to 28-30 probibly.

My copy from Amazon reads "Shipping Soon"
I hope that means today.

So did mine, but now they've revised the delivery estimate to 10/28 (with overnight delivery). A bit late for a game that they'd claimed was shipping out on 10/24.

I'm headed to Gamestop to buy a copy (a presell edition no less!), and told amazon they can cancel my order now if they'd like, or pay shipping when I return it to them if they're too lazy. That's the last time I will ever do business with amazon.

Best of luck to the rest of you poor unfortunate souls who have been jerked around by amazon as I was.

Estimated delivery date 10-26-2005 yet telling me it's shipping soon. I'm pretty frustrated at this point...When I checked my order it says that I can't cancel it at this stage of the order. WTH:aargh:

Yeah man, it's absolutely ridiculous how badly they've muffed this one. My delivery estimate was still saying yesterday a couple hours ago, and now it says 10/28, for overnight delivery. I just sent them an email and said to either cancel my order or just send me a return address label concurrently - I'm way too angry to do business with them anymore and I won't be paying to return it either way. I'm headed to pick up a replacement now. Couldn't be much more furious with how amazon treated this.  :aargh:

Good luck with your delivery.

Yeah, I had the same trouble as you guys. I decided to cancel my Amazon pre-order, went down to Gamestop, and got the pre-sell edition right off of the shelf.

Good luck with your delivery.

Not a bad idea to pick up a replacement - I think I'll hit EB/Gamestop on the way home from work tonight. I will probably return the thing to Amazon and let them take the hit for the ridiculous way they have handled this thing. They've had weeks to prepare, and could have been a bit more proactive in managing the situation. Oh well...guess I'll take it up w/my Congressman.

Mine says it is shipping on the 29th. I e-mailed them about why it is taking so long and they said:
I have researched your order, and can confirm that we still expect to ship your order by the date listed in Your Account: October 29, 2005.

The estimated date of shipment was calculated at the time you placed
your order and is based on the availability of the items in your
order, the proximity of inventory to the delivery address you
provided and the shipping method you chose.

My order's "shipping soon" too, estimated delivery next tuesday. Looks like I've got one weekend left to finally beat civ3 deity.

Of course, "shipping soon" could just be a trick to stem the flow of canceled orders, if you're feeling cynical, which many people here seem to be.

...blah...blah...blah - looks like a nice formletter to me. Nothing like top notch customer service.

what is their e-mail, i got to get in touch with them and do some ... buisness with them.

Mine has finally been updated (from est. delivery on the 24th)- now says estimated shipping on the 27th. I haven't gotten a response to my email yet though.

@Karlhegna- I don't know the email address- i used a form that I got to somehow through the "contact us" section. It wasn't very intuitive, and I'm not sure I could easily get there, because they keep trying to send you to stupid faq pages or back to your account info.

Ditto; I just got a pre-sell edition as a walk-in (at Gamestop as well, FWIW). Rule. Amazon can [insert expletive] themselves.

@12Voltman:  on the Congressman thing. That was the first I've been able to laugh about this debacle; thanks for that. I agree with you wholeheartedly though that Amazon can eat the return shipping for how atrociously they handled this whole thing (they will be for mine). Good luck with your reserve copy.

I'm off to CIV  !!! Best of luck, all! :)

@bio_hazard: I had the same experience as you - a real pain to try to contact those guys. Almost as if they're aware that their customer service leaves something to be desired :mischief:. I still have no response to my 'cancel my order' email, but the response to my 'WTH?!' email earlier was just a useless form letter addressing credit card issues, so don't get your hopes up too much. Good luck though.

Note to all other pissed-off people: I just went ahead and canceled. I called the local Gamestop and picked up a pre-release edition a few minutes later. I recommend that people who also ordered from Amazon do the same.

Good luck! :)
