An archive of the legendary games

I agree with Flamebait potential. I find it hard to believe with 90+ LK series games that not one of them qualifies.
agree, I remember a LK AW game on pangaea without armies, a cliffhanger all the way until a great finish. i enjoyed to follow that one a lot.

and agreed, while maybe unique, Aggie's monster wasn't really legendary stuff, since it was about 'who can take 2 hours IT's' , sort of a patience test rather than unique tactics. not that I want to belittle that game, I shadow played it myself.

and I mention here again, gozpel8 is really an achievement. but it's your call, tomoyo

You mean LK76 AWE No Armies,Standard Pangaea as Dutch. :crazyeye:
He wins domination a few turns before UN. :goodjob:
Gozpel8 is also great, defeat Cathy when she owns 8 parts.
Gozpel7 Rematch is crazy, success or failure,it is always a legend.

LK76 is a great one. Also, I think LK88 was a pretty good job - of course, it was the RaR mod; but a pretty neat comeback.

But admittedly, Sirian showed us again in Magnificient 7+1 that a good team and gameplay and theme isn't enough for 'legendary' - it's the write-up that makes Isabella and the Chamber, or Scouting Sid, or 7+1 so interesting.

Yeah. Agreed.

I have been spending far[]/b] too much time recently reading through these threads. It is just so enjoyable to read the exploits of the masters. One thing I see that succession gamers need to put a little more effort into pleasing the lurkers. If they did, perhaps their games might make the legendary list...

I think my personal favourite of all time is Sid Vicious (although Charis' Christmas Celts is right up there - unfortunately the pictures have disappeared; that really needs to be fixed).

People have talked about Sirian's masterful comeback and gman's (I think it was him) circus parade. IMVHO, I think that your absolutely brilliant management of the timing of the death of... (what was the civ... ) the Babs (I think) was the highlight. You really taught me a lot about how to manipulate the AI .

Thank you.

IMO, without any of this things (not to mention your - plural - overall brilliance in this game), you guys woulda lost. I don't want to take anything from anyone else. It just struck how I had never thought that that it might be useful to protect someone from demise... or to choose the moment and the manner when he said good night.

Thank you.

gozpel told me he won on sid.

DocT, DJM Gator and Sir Bugsy all participated in Bugs3 - The Sid Virgin Sacrifice where they all got their first wins on Sid. And I would be very surprised if Sirian hadn't previously won on Sid.

Sirian hadn't previously played on Sid. (At least that's what I understand. I could be wrong.)

Bede and I are starting up a SID level SG on a panegea. ... We would like to invite you to play as well.

Eight players? That is a lot!

I've never done Sid, btw. Are you sure you want a n00b like me involved? :)

Rumor has it that Sirian hasn't yet played half a dozen (total) games of C3C and that he's been more or less retired from Civ3 for more than two years. There must be something good about Civ3, though, because he seems to revisit it now and then, for old times sake.

A lot of those games are before my time... but SV&tM7+1 and Random Deity Troublemaking get my approval. Both incredible come-from-behind victories.

I was going to put that AW game with the Dutch on the list, but it slipped my mind! Honest!

NOTE TO ALL: If you want a game to be place on the list, either post the link in the thread or PM it to me, since I'm not actively searching for them.

Yes, I had forgotten about that one. I also forgot about The Defiant Nationalists of China, too, so both are going on.

Just saw you added my game in your index. Well, i didn't ask you because i thought it was your index, and you were picking epic games following certain parameters that my game couldn't have... uh, just mental gibberish, i guess... :D

Anyway, thanx for the inclusion. I'm honoured to be cited among the best players around. Bye! ;)

For a classic SG game I'd suggest: LotR2 started by Arathorn.

As far as I know, this was the grand-daddy of "always war" games and started the whole idea. We had some good players in it (I was learning), it was an exciting game, and the issue was in serious doubt in the first half of the game.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this game helped lead to the evolution of Great Leaders into the Scientific and Military varieties. Due to constant war, we had so many Great Leaders in this game it was embarrasing. We built almost all our Great Wonders that way and even used them to build universities and factories.

I dont think the 6CC should be there. While it is an amazing variant, the game is pretty much stalled and it doesnt look like anyone wants to play it. Not too legendary IMO.

I actually agree, though I don't think it is true that no one wants to play it. Quite a few were originally scared off by the perceived difficulty of the variant. At this point, non game related issues have caused two players (one of them is me) not to be able to play, and one other player was already short on time, and didn't care too spend any more on playing as our victory is assured at this point.
