Yes, CBS is doing a made for TV movie about Enron. I saw a commericial a few days ago, all I know is that is called "The Crooked E" and its about Enron. Some clips showed a CEO asking his board, "How far do you want to go?" and a bunch of men in suits shredding documents.

This absolutely disgusted me. An Enron movie? Did Enron give the rights to this, and if so, why? If they didn't, isn't this against some laws? It shocked me also: a movie about Enron less than a year after, with little of the facts known. Why? Ugh. Made for TV movies are bad enough, but about Enron? Sheesh.

I wonder if they shot it during the scandal...

EDIT: Thanks to Napolean for the title. That makes it that much funnier...

It should be called "shameless" Its CBS after all, there only a step above Fox In terrible entertainment.

Capitalism means you make money out of opportunities. Opportunism means you exploit every opportunity you get.

I assume the term Occapitalist (from latin - Occasio Opportunity and Capitale possessions) would apply to capitalizing on failed exploits of opportunists...

The movie is called "The Crooked E," which I find hilarious.

As to the above comments, Enron isn't in a position to sue anybody for getting the facts wrong, so I CBS can do whatever it wants. I don't really care.

Hey, doesn't dell have a crooked E :mischief:

anyways it's not the righttime for a movie like that it will lower invester confidence and make the economy worse, wait until it picks up some.

Oh yeah, CBS can do whatever they want, I refer to Shameless as those who worked at Enron were Shameless.

A studio buys the rights to the story f/ someone associated w/ the event... Whoever the protagonist is, that's the person who sold out. Then the studio produces a mini-series and sells it to a network to air.

The network gets most of the credit -- and blame -- for the finished product in the eyes of the public.

Enron could sue, but they probably won't win because the scandal is a matter of public record.

THEY FIGURED OUT A WAY TO MAKE MONEY SOMEWHAT HONESTLY! Finally! Good for them! ;) :mischief:

couldn't resist...

I really can't understand why some people get so upset over this  unless they lost all their money to Enron...

Aaaawwwwww!

Poor, poor Enron.

CBS is stupid, Enron is stupid. The real idiots are the people who watch that crap.

You're right. I saw a little blurb about it when I was trying to watch the Steelers-Browns game. It's based on a book written by an intern, I beleive. They probably made a good deal of money, being a semi-mole. They probably are up on their moral high horse about it too.

CBS does have crappy entertainment ;)

Remember I said entertainment

I originally heard about this while on vacation watching CNN Headline News. Because my parents are very cheap, we don't have cable at home and the station in hotels stays on CNN. They had flashing news at the bottom and that's when I saw it.

Can't they come up with a better subject material? Even I, as an accounting professional, have no desire to watch a movie about the failure corporate governance and accounting issues...

It's a dramatisation based on real events. It has nothing to do with Enron.

It's like 'Titanic', only it'll most likely be much worse, if that's possible.
