MarineCorps has very kindly (and with Wyrmshadow's permission) uploaded a bunch of Wyrm's early work to the CFC d/l db from his now sadly defunct "Storm Over Civ" site.

As for Yours Truly, I've decided to soon begin picking and choosing what to re-upload, hopefully (i.e., hoping they're under the u/l size limit) in packs, such as all of BeBro's chariots (Chinese, Etruscan, Trojan ...)

I've received rather a bit of implicit / explicit comments about the "worthiness" of many of the oldies and, frankly, I quite agree. So I'll be sifting, picking and choosing.

Also, I've so far (now and in my last attempt to rally help for this effort) focused only on units (whose quality has indeed generally increased, often dramatically, since say, oh, 2002 ... ) but I foolishly overlooked the many high quality Buildings etc. by the likes of Bjorn/Bjornlo and Rufus T. Firefly.

... Stay tuned ...

PM from MarineCorps today: "Those units have been on my site for the longest time and with me shutting down I felt I should upload them over here for everyone to enjoy."

It might be appropriate to bumb those threads and post the new download links, or post something in the artist unit library.

We're talking about links from 2002 - July 2006 (aka "The Great Hacking.") I'm happy to re-upload, post same within a single thread, etc., and am very happy if anyone else wishes to dig up the original threads and update the Artist Unit Library accordingly :)

Wait a second, I'm confused now. StormOverCiv is shutting down? I just logged in over there, and see no indication of it, and it looks like Ronning posted some new graphics there just yesterday. I hope this is going to be gradual enough to allow for a transition if it's really shutting down. Is MarineCorps the only remaining owner? I know BadKharma was co-owner in the past. And does this mean I should start panic-downloading?

If this is about Great Hacking lost files, I'm impressed that you still have them. I'd assumed we'd reached pretty much the best we'd ever get at restoring those.

Either way, we should look into making sure all files are backed up in at least one place other than their main site (whether CFC, SOC, Apolyton, or another), even if it's just an FTP that's only used as a backup in case the site goes down. At one point (post-Great-Hacking) I'd started downloading files and keeping them in the structure they are in the downloads database as a backup, but it's too tedious to do without an automatic method.

Yes the site is closing, no it wont be sudden, I'm working on getting the mods moved over here, not an easy task seeing as it's 21GB worth of mods.

I recently downloaded a lot of Rufus TF buildings. I didn't occur to me that any of the links didn't work. But perhaps I was just lucky.

That's sad :( I hope to see all the goodies you collected moved here.
