If our goal for this game is to win via domination of the world, we need to plan for it. I used MapStat to look at tilecounts for our world, and we're way behind.

Code:
Domination Analysis - 1495 A.D.

 1614 ->Fanatika - Current
  261 ->Iroqouis
  569 ->China
+ 199 ->Russia
----------------
 2643 ->Total Western Bloc
  587 ->America
+ 478 ->France
----------------
 3708 ->Total from listed nations

 3633 ->Tiles needed for domination

According to MapStat, those are the nations we need to conquer to make the land requirement for domination; we also need 66% of the world's population (something else we need to take into consideration).

The nations listed above, therefore, are those I believe we need to go after, though not necesarily in that order. If we're lucky, we can stay friendly with our piggy bank Greece, and avoid another drawn-out conflict with Xerxes.

I think that, if we are lucky and play our cards right, we can have a domination victory under our belts in 150 turns...

Remember, America does have cities in the middle of the east. So, we may still have to take out England.

If were going to do this once we get panzers we need to mass them up... ALOT of them...

If we get Pnazers and other more advanced weapons, this should be achievable in between one to two months. I will calculate the average amount of turns played in a turn later tonight and we can see how muhc RL time is needed.

While I personally have always considered such utilities a form of cheating, I think this data raises an interesting dilemma.

I would estimate that >50% of the foreign tiles are a result of cultural expansion, which we would lose upon capturing those cities. If my estimation is correct, then we would not only need to conquer these lands, but also rush a few cultural improvements (as waste will not allow us to build them in a reasonable period of time) in every city taken during our conquest.

Considering the speed with which we are advancing towards the Modern Era, I doubt very seriously that we will have sufficient time to conquer the foreign cities and produce enough culture to achieve a domination victory before somebody launches a spaceship or calls a UN vote (assuming we don't get the UN).

I'm not saying it's impossible; more like unlikely. We should start considering another victory path - possibly Diplomatic, which brings me to another interesting insight from the data posted by Octavian. If things continue as they are, America is and will likely continue to be the 2nd most powerful nation in the world.

This is not necessarily a bad thing. If their success continues, then it all but eliminates the other nations from being included in a potential UN vote. Hence, making it much easier to rig the voting in our favor and assuring ourselves of victory earlier, rather than later.

It is not to late to choose another path to victory now, is it...
I think FortyJ brings up interesting points - let us examine the posibilities of diplomacy a little more, shall we?

(I would support any peaceful solution=victory)

Edit:(Seeing CT's post below) Apolyton could have won by the histograph, and I would still go for the more peaceful alternatives. Since culture would be a long shot, the two most interesting alternatives are spaceship and diplomacy. Just my 2,5 Fanatikans worth though

:hmm: Is this another "but, Apolyton did it!!" trend? ;)
