Thanks, that worked fine!

Finally some (very slow) progress

If you need pedias I can write some!
Also great work on everything so far!

I would love that! You can choose which parts you would like to write about, I'll give a quick rundown of the likely subsections for the Qin page:

  • Early History
  • Spring and Autumn Period
  • Mid Warring States (Shang Yang)
  • Rise to Power (Battle of Changping, Zheng Guo, etc)
  • Unification - Shi Huang up to 221BC

Since these mods are based on the Warring States period, I'm considering leaving the years out of the Qin Empire out of the pedia. What do people think of this?

Would it be good to rename the leader to Ying Zheng, in that case? (He only adopted the whole Shi Huangdi thing after the warring states period)

That's a good idea, I'm certainly not against it. I suppose it makes more sense as well, since this is the state of Qin, not the empire.

On the other hand, Shi Huang is a much more well known name.

I'm really digging the background, not as keen on the leader because of the metal armour.

I was thinking of taking Jingem from Marco Polo and using him as one of the leaders. Maybe Zhao, maybe another. Here's one image of him that would look good in a leaderscene, I could skim through the show again to potentially find others.

The music does work well. Maybe we could cut the buildup parts out?

I'll see if I can use that picture of Jingem in the leaderhead art and how that works.

Ok! I'll write this all up. I have already finished the UB pedia but I have on question: does "qu" mean canal?

Also: I'm fine if I don't need to add the unification; :mischief: less work for me!

I've created a poll on what to call the leader of Qin. There are two options, they're the same person, but he had different names before and after he unified China. The first option is his name as emperor of China - Shi Huangdi. This is the name he is most commonly known by so is certainly more recognisable. The second is Ying Zheng, the personal name he went by as King of the state of Qin before the unification of China. I'd like to know which people want me to use.

Here's the poll:

Maybe he can be called Ying Zheng, then through a Decision of some sort, his name can change to the more recogniseable Shi Huangdi. The Decision can be something along the lines of this:

Decision: Establish the Qin Dynasty
Requirements:
- Capture X number of Capitals
- Capture X number of Cities
- Some other requirements?
Rewards:
- Empire renamed from 'Qin' to 'Qin Dynasty'
- 'Ying Zheng' becomes 'Shi Huangdi'
- Some other rewards

Some other modded civs like Francia and Muscovy do the same thing through Decisions to become the Carolingian Empire and Russia respectively.

Thanks!

Alright, voting seems slightly in favour of Ying Zheng, so that's the name I have gone with. I will definitely look to introduce a decision that changes it to Shi Huangdi, I really like that. Here's two ideas for possible decisions for Qin:

Establish the Chinese Empire
  • Player must be Qin
  • Must have conquered at least 2 foreign :c5capital: Capitals
  • Must control at least 7 foreign cities with Courthouses built
  • May only be enacted once per game
Costs:
  • 750 :c5gold: Gold
  • 250 :c5culture: Culture
  • 1 Magistrate
Rewards:
  • A :c5goldenage: Golden Age begins
  • All sources of Imperial Jade yield +3 :c5faith: Faith
  • +25% :c5gold: Gold from :c5trade: City Connections
  • Free Walls in all cities
  • If China is not in the game, Qin becomes China
  • Ying Zheng becomes Shi Huangdi

Appoint Bai Qi as Commander
  • Player must be Qin
  • Must have researched Horseback Riding
  • Player is at war
  • Player has at least 2 Horse resources available
  • May only be enacted once per game
Costs:
  • 500 :c5gold: Gold
  • 1 Magistrate
Rewards:
  • Great General 'Bai Qi' appears outside the capital
  • Two Bai Qi's Cavalry appear outside the capital
  • All units gain +10% combat strength for the next 6 turns

Thoughts? In terms of both design and balance. Maybe there are better things to base a decision on that I've missed out?

First decision should cost an additional magistrate, I believe...
Other than that, seems perfectly balanced.
