AND Mega Pack

Maybe some files are missing in my installation.
There's everything in the archive, but maybe you extracted it to the wrong place. Are the fpk files in the assets folder?
Also I wanted to know if by stand-alone you meant That I can run the Mega Pack outside the ROM AND mod.
No.

  • Q: Does the AND Mega Pack work as intended with Chronicles of Mankind?
  • A: Well, sort of. More recent changes of the mod make it more and more different from AND2. E.g. with CoM1.2 MegaPack will throw many harmless but annoying error massages.
    • More music on the other hand is fully compatible.
So it works with CoM but not in a nice way. I am planning to do an update to make it work flawlessly with CoM but I don't know when that will happen.

Hi. I recently downloaded Rise of Mankind: A New Dawn and the Megapack and I love these mods so far.

I was wondering how to access to the art files for the leaderheads and civilizations from the megapack to add some leaders and/or leader art to some mods I'm working on, but they do not seem to be in the mod folders. Is there any way for me to access these art files?

You need to use PAKbuild.exe. It's included somewhere in Assets folder.

Instructions:
On Pakbuild, do the following:

1) Put your entire "ART" folder in an EMPTY folder (with nothing else in it but the "ART" folder from your mod). This is VERY important (or you'll be FPKing a lot of stuff you don't want to).

2) Open-up PakBuild... select from pull-down menu:
File
New...

3) Browse for the folder where you put your ART folder.

4) You should just see the "ART" folder in the "Raw Files" large window on the left half of PakBuild.

5) Select the "New PAK File" button in the middle

6) You should see a large empty "Packed Files" window on the right now... select the "Rename" button... name it whatever you want (like I use "Wolfshanze.FPK").

7) Just below the "Packed Files" window select "Store Full Paths" (and only that button... don't select anything else!).

8) From the pull-down menu up-top, select "PAK", then select "BUILD".

9) You're basically done... sit back and relax... if it's a small build, it could take only a few seconds, if it's HUGE (like 300 megs or so), it could take several minutes... you are DONE packing when the "Packed Files" window changes from blank to having a bunch of files listed there. Like I said, this might take a few minutes, all depends on the size of your project.

That's it... if that doesn't spell it out for you, you're missing out on something.
I don't know who wrote these instructions (Wolfshanze?) because I saved them into a txt file to always have them at hand. I suggest you do the same.

Thanks. But in what folder is the leaderhead and civilization art in? I tried unpacked them from the art folder but it didn't work for some reason.

Art files are defined in Assets/xml/Art folder files.
E.g.:
CIV4ArtDefines_Leaderhead.xml
XML:
        <LeaderheadArtInfo>
            <Type>ART_DEF_LEADER_ALEXANDER</Type>
            <Button>,Art/interface/LeaderHeads/Btn_LH_Greece_Alexander.dds,Art/Interface/Buttons/Actions_Builds_LeaderHeads_Specialists_Atlas.dds,1,11</Button>
            <NIF>art/LeaderHeads/Alexander_the _Great/alexander.nif</NIF>
            <KFM>art/LeaderHeads/Alexander_the _Great/alexander.kfm</KFM>
            <NoShaderNIF>art/LeaderHeads/Alexander_the _Great/alexander_noshader.nif</NoShaderNIF>
            <BackgroundKFM>art/LeaderHeads/Alexander_the _Great/alexander_BG.kfm</BackgroundKFM>
        </LeaderheadArtInfo>

So for Alex' model you search in the mod's Assets/art/LeaderHeads folder. If they aren't there, go for BtS Assets/art/LeaderHeads folder. If you still don't find the models go for the same folders in Warlords and Vanilla. But still, your things may be packed into an FPK file, so you may also need to extract the FPK files of Vanilla Civ4 too.

I'm looking for the custom leaderhead and civilization art for the Rise of Mankind mod and the MegaPack that goes with the mod, but I can't find the art even with the PakBuilder. What folder do I have to open with the PakBuilder to find this art? Sorry if there's something I'm not understanding.

You have to unpack MegaPack fpk files. There are 3 of them. Than you can search the extracted folders as the art defines explain.
Thanks for the info.

I've tried building the Megapack but it hasn't worked so far. I'll try again and figure it out later.

I may have another solution. If I wanted to add the civs from the Megapack, like Slovakia for example, to another mod, how would I do so? I've tried with some other civs where copying and pasting the megapack files worked, but for some civs the text didn't work. Where's the file that has the text for the civilizations?

Would be so much easier if the mega pack was included in the mod itself.

I am now trying to play Chonicles of mankind, that is a mod mod to new dawn,, but also can be played standalone mod :) I have never really gotten the new dawn launcher to work properly so this is great.
I got Chronicles to work standalone, with and without using and2_checker.exe.
But then to get the civ mega pack to work is not easy... not easy at all. I have tried to use the and2_checker.exe file to install the module packages and then run. Only alot of pop ups and then it crashes.
I also tried to fix the problem my self, and yeah. I got parts of it to work. But only for one country in "AND_MP_12_Europe" and that is Sweden.
Spoiler Summary of getting sweden to work :
This with first adding so that AND_MP_12_Europe is loaded in. In MLF_CIV4ModularLoadingControls.xml. Then by changing in modinfo.xml that the fpk files should be loaded. Changing to <file default="1">assets/MegaPack1.fpk and </file and <file default="1">assets/MegaPack2.fpk</file> in the modinfo.xml file.
And then only having sweden in "AND_MP_12_Europe" folder.

For some reason it only works with sweden. Swedens special units etc loads and the mod works fine. But when I have the other nations, that are originaly included, in "AND_MP_12_Europe" folder it dose not work. There are several problems when starting up the mod.
Please add more nations to Chonicles of mankind, so that the mega civ pack becomes redundant.

I will. I will, just I have other things on my to do list as well, that takes a lot of time and dedication to finish. Updating MegaPack is also a lot of tedious work. And than there is real life too :crazyeye:
