And the next patch is...?

I have waited for enough patches in other games to realize that it would take months of waiting when they mention weeks.

Hope they fix the worker stealing exploit and don't allow captured workers to move on the same turn. Mainly because I'm addicted to this and it's making domination/conquest too easy.

AHHHHH.....

hopefully they will fix the bloody peer issues on gamespy; opening port whatever in your firewall not withstanding :crazyeye:

The only thing i really hope will be in this patch it that it signifently increase the game's preformance on not so good computers, like mine...
Any news on when its coming?

The last patch allready did wonders for my non TNL graphics card. No more hovering eyes and teeth, but fully fleshed opponents. The only thing I cannot see are the resources. They're just shadows. Everything on the lowest settings offcourse.;)

I didn't start getting horrible graphics UNTIL the patches. I just had stuttering in-game movies. :bitter:

I can't wait for the SDK and the patches. Didn't know about the latter.

What about that slo-mo fighting, just like matrix, so cool.

I hope they fix the Cultural Victory in OCC.

(Sorry for being childish now. Seems no mature approach has helped yet  )

Btw - its february the 22 - exactly two months since patch 1.52

The childishness or maturity of the community will have no effect on the speed of the patch. (Except, of course, for the very possible negative effects of childishness. ;))

The patch will be done when it's done, and no amount of "input" from the user community will change that fact.

I'd rather wait and have a good patch and SDK instead of them releasing it and me wanting a patch for their patch and SDK! Man, it would have been better if I didn't know about this. I've lost my blissful ignorance on this topic..

I just hope when this patch comes out i can still play the game as v1.52 started off my ATI problems again. They need to do some thing about the end game performance too its like watching paint dry only slower

Windows xp sp2,
Athlon xp 3000+ 2.2GHz MMX, 3Dnow,
1GB pc3200 (400MHz) ram,
ATI radeon 9600pro 256mb vram,
sound blaster live 5.1 surround sound.

And Padma told me :old:

Don't get me wrong. I like civ4. In my oppinion its the best civ game since civ1 which totally amazed me on my 16mhz 386sx back them. I just so much hope and wait for a patch, that enables me to play games on larger scale than "tiny" and "small", as I can't do that today. If I try, the game slows down to a crawl in the end-game, causing me to give wrong orders to units and mess up build queues.

In short, I'm waiting for the upcomming patch in hopes of a playable game - and its like - waiting for christmas without knowing when christmas is, or if it ever arrives (well, sort of, anyway).

My childishness won't affect the release date, I just had to let out some steam :-)

I really hope they do something to improve performance. Having way beyond required minimum specs but still lagging like heck on just standard size maps is incredibly annoying

Oh yes pretty please! Opening a bazillion of ports just to play MP was a bit annoying.

Do you have the recommended specs though?

I suggest people email Firaxis staff directly, the relevant email addresses from their website appear to be dbriggs@firaxis.com and kgilmore@firaxis.com. Here is what I just sent them:

I like everything about Civ4 and so do several friends, and yet we are about to delete it from our hard drives. The game's strongest advance over previous titles is its multiplayer play, but unfortunately you released it apparently without bothering to test whether online play would actually work worth a damn. I just spent yet another frustrating hour on GameSpy attempting to get an online game going, listening to the frustration of dozens of other players who can't get past the "bad peer" bug, or whose games freeze up due to the "retire" bug, etc. All of us can play any number of other games online just fine, including via GameSpy; we all know how to disable firewalls and open ports on our routers. We've played LAN games of Civ4 so we know how much fun multiplayer can be -- but since trying to play Civ4 online is such a complete waste of time, we're giving up on it. A damn shame, you had a great game here if you'd just supported its best feature reasonably. For confirmation just spend a little time in the gamespy lobby or on the fansite forums.
