Android apps on a pc

Yes, I have an old pc but am currently running Windows 7. No, I do not have any mobile devices.

I know it possible to run android apps on your pc. Is it advisable? Any potential problems or concerns? What software do you use or recommend?

I've used bluestacks before, it's generally functional.

The experience is overall pretty poor, for various reasons. (No touchscreen, etc.)

Second Bluestacks, I used it briefly before buying a cheap used Android phone off ebay.

I have used android running on VirtualBox. It worked, but I did not try much.
