I'm more or less new here (part of the Scenario League immigration), so I don't know if this has been discussed to death in the past, so pardon me if it was settled years ago.

What are the chances of enabling animated avatars? I had one over at Apolyton and rather liked it (my avatar has paddled around the world six and a half times so far). Any possibility?

I've heard they can be distracting.

They're indicative of a low quality site as with massive signatures.

This is my avatar at TrekBBS (another vBulletin forum):

(for the non-Trek folks, it's a "tractor beam")

Now we have privileges they don't have there - we're allowed to use colored fonts and non-default fonts. That forum isn't.

None. Staff hates the idea.

Good for staff. Animated avatars are like half a rung above marquee scrolling text on the classiness scale.

(on edit: D'Oh! That's rung, not run. I don't know what the heck a "half a run" is)

But they're cool. :cooool:

Its one of Thunderfall's fundamental preferences (and one I agree with, actually): A view that they're distracting / annoying.

The use of the escape button has increased 25%.

The most important part of your post, should be its content.. not its frame.
