Looks like I have the start of a new fledgling Republic. So units will be at a premium, which is okay with me considering I won't be going to war with the Vikings any time soon (hopefully).
When do we want to plan on taking on the 'zerks? (Reminds me of the Myth series, saying, "'zerks.") Probably not til we get 3 muskets in every coastal town, huh? So cavalry or maybe knights? It depends on other things, too, I know.
Anyway, let's take a look at that game now...
Inherited Turn, 510BC
To improve our empire, it looks like Baghdad needs me to drag some irrigation over towards it.
Mecca should hit 20spt with it's next growth (very good)
Damascus needs to grow a few more sizes before it hits 10spt.
No other city has shield production greater than 4, which isn't so great, but will change.
Khurosan needs irrigation, and the worker is currently mining. Looks like he's got a ways to go on that mining, still, so I'm going to switch him off of it.
Hey, look at that. 0g and -9gpt for our treasury. You guys love me, huh?
Well, considering we are a republic, my guess is unit costs. Yep -44gpt on our hordes of slaves and warriors.
Oh, that's right... PTW means we don't have any support for Republic troops. But at least they don't cost 2gpt either.
Let's see... dropping the lux doesn't really help... it makes a bunch of towns less productive and only saves us 5gpt. And I don't want to kill our 10% research, cause we'll get Mono in 12.
Oh man, tax men only give 1gpt now, too. Too much C3C for Pindicator lately.
Where to begin?
Yamana switched from Warrior to Temple. Town MMed to work maximum currency.
Warrior fortified outside of Khurosan is disbanded in town.
Entertainer in Kufah changed to tax man.
MM Najran to max commerce. Production changed from Barracks to Market. As a low shield / high commerce town, it's more of what we need.
MM Basra for commerce. Will stick with the Barracks for now.
MM Anjar for commerce. Will need to build a harbor here soon, as well.
Budget is now balanced. (Don't you want to hire me, Bush?)
But that's not good enough, we need some cash coming in, too.
Let's see what diplomacy will net us:
Trade world map to every civ for 1g. Should do this every turn, if I remember to.
Vikings didn't even want our WM for 1g. So I only netted 6.
Scandinavia already has Monotheism... Here's to hoping they don't like trading.
In 19 turns, we will have 8gpt back from India and 6gpt back from Spain. It's something to look forward to. They are our only active deals, too.
Spain will trade 1gt + 14g + WM for Horses. I really would like a better deal than that. I mean, we may be broke, but we're not desparate (yet).
America will only trade 8g + WM for Horses.
If we had a trade route to China, they are in need of Iron.
Medina has 4 warriors... time to axe a few of those. If the Vikings ever look like they will attack, I will abandon the city.
Okay, with 6g and 3gpt, I think I'm ready to continue now.
IBT-
Indians want to talk.
They want to trade for our money, too. Ha, what money?
Mecca builds a swordsman. I'm going to disband a warrior for every sword it produces. Call it the long version of upgrading.
Turn 1, 490BC
Disband warrior in Damascus. But that town's also building swords... which is good and bad right now.
Trade WMs around for 7g.
Spain will trade 1gpt + 19g + WM for horses. Well, they also are the only civ without horses, so I think I'll wait a little for them to stockpile some gold before trading. But not too long (we do want Chivalry, do we not?)
Turn 2, 470BC
MM Madrid for Commerce after it grows. We're up to +6gpt now.
Switch Anjar from Barracks to Harbor (still want to emphasize commerce and growth).
Ah, I should have tried it earlier. Putting the discontent Baghdad citizen to work on a +3 commerce square makes them both content. Go lux!
Change Khurosan entertainer to a tax man.
WMs for 7g again.
If Spain would just hook up another of their spices, I'd trade the horses already.
IBT-
Mecca: Sword -> Sword.
Medina riots. I thought I check the towns.
The town is too corrupt to even get a lux.
Turn 3, 450BC
Disband a warrior in Basra to make up for Mecca's sword. Basra has no defenders, but it is not a border or coastal town.
Switch Medina from walls to galley. It takes up a gpt, but the exploration may net us some gold as well.
Turn 6, 390BC
Somebody reminded Mao that he has a coastal town! He built a harbor. I hope this isn't bad, but I trade him Iron + WM + 61g for Dyes + Feudalism.
We can't drop the lux rate without pissing Mecca off, so I guess we'll just have to have some extra happiness. And no iron.
Everybody else except India and China has Invention. China doesn't have Mono yet, so we may be able to pick up Invention when Mono comes in. Spain doesn't have Feud, but I won't trade it for only 40g.
IBT-
Mecca builds last sword for a while. Will build cats and horsemen in the meantime.
China builds Great Lighthouse.
Turn 10, 310BC
So now that we're 2 turns from it, Mao decided he'd get Monotheism from somewhere else.

I sold our WM around, but haven't done any other diplomacy.
As far as money goes, we're doing better: 114g and 14gpt.
Sell WMs every turn for an additional 7gpt.
The galley in Medina is for transporting the worker somewhere he'll be needed. I don't want to piss off the Vikings yet. Also, I've heard that if you can get somehwere we haven't yet explored you can move-sellmaps-move1-sellmaps and so on. If someone is feeling monotonous enough to do this, be my guests.
Otherwise, feel free to veto any of my builds; this is usually the point in a diety game where I find myself as being forever behind. However, with our Iron supplying the Chinese, we can get tech from them every 20 turns.
