Load up the save, and review Bede's write-up.
We are currently at war with Ragnar, but so is everyone else besides Mao and Isabella.
Goal for the war, as Bede put is: "We need Ragnar's silks and elephants and technology." I'll try to get at least the silks in my 10.
No MMing needed that I could tell -- and at 30spt in 2 cities, we're gonna give Ragnar the hurt with ansars.
Taking a look at the diplo menues:
China: up Mono, Theo, Invent; we have 6 turns on a dye deal with them
Egypt: up same 3; we have 6 turns on a incense deal with them
Vikings will not acknowledge us.
India: up same 3; we have 13 turns left on MA costing us 28gpt
Ottoman: up same 3; we have 17 turns left on a gem deal costing us 15gpt
Spain: up Monarchy, and we can trade for it... but what's the point?
America: up same 3; we have 13 turns left on MA costing us 33gpt
Anjar is undefended? As a coastal town, I'll have to trust Bede on this one, but I am going to throw pikemen in it as soon as i can.
IBT-
'zerk from Stravanger dies to pike, but redlines it
'zerk from Copenhagen dies to pike, but redlines it
'zerk from Copen kills Ansar, -2HP
China and Egypt sign MA against Scandinavia. Free is a good price

Culture expandings abound.
Quell 2 resistors in Bodo.
Turn 1, 280AD
Cats go 1/2 on Copen. Looks like 2 elite muskets at least... no good.
Wounded pikes make trip back home.
Ansars pillage, 1 cuts road off all the way to Stravanger; the other cuts a road E of Copen.
Put Bodo on starvation diet.
Would like more cats before I attack Copen, so I will be at least as timid as Bede

Upgrade sword to MI for 20g
Advance Elite Ansar from Kufah to front lines (hopefully will net us a leader!)
Try to reposition backline troops to cover coast effectively.
MM Khurosan to max commerce as cat is due next turn.
MM Yamana to max production, and get that Harbor online quicker; since we're starving Bodo it doesn't need the tiles.
Ragnar will speak with us, but will not give us anything worthwhile.
IBT-
Spanish want to talk. I already told you Isabella, we don't want your monarchy!
Viking galley looks to be heading right towards undefended:
Kufah riots; I just checked that city--it was good; well, now it is again.
Basra builds market.
Resistance in Bodo ends.
Ottomans build Copernicus.
Turn 2, 290AD
That galley could be just heading home, but I can't risk it. Our galley redlines theirs before losing.
At risk of exposing some Ansars, I isolate Copen with pillaging. Time to attack soon.
Upgrade another sword to MI for 20g.
With all the ansars we have lined up, the attack looks good for next turn.
And with the resistance in Bodo done, I move 2 pikes out to help defend other cities.
India will offer us Theology for 34gpt. Will pass for now, but it may be worth it to buy off another civ before we extort from the Vikings.
IBT-
Vikings want to talk. They won't give us anything for peace, so screw them.
Sure enough, the Vikings capture Baghdad via amphibious zerks.

Will retake with ansars next turn (was prepared for this).
'zerk kills redlined pike (cause I forgot a road was there), but he's exposed now.
Chinese building JS Bach's.
Turn 3, 300AD
MI loses to 'zerk in Baghdad, -2HP.
Ansar flawlessly mops up; Baghdad is ours and the resistance is over. But I do notice some WW.
The RNG is hating me in my SGs lately. Ansar loses to zerk, -3HP. MI comes from Mecca and finishes the job.
All four cats miss... so far that makes them 1/9.
Am I stubborn enough to continue the attack? You bet I am!
Ansar loses to musket, -1HP -- do these guys ever retreat?
MDI loses to musket, -2HP.
Okay, a third musket is now showing. This is bad; we need to bombard the city -- I'm not that stubborn i guess.
MDI loses to musket, -1HP and promo -- that's enough; I'm not that stubborn. We may not be able to take this town without a huge SOD or cannons.
Turn 4, 310AD
War weariness is starting to get up there.
Pillaging is going wonderfully; Scandinavia has no troops to take out our pillagers.
IBT-
And so what didn't I do after noticing the WW? That's right, up luxuries... so we get rioting.
Ottomans building Smiths.
Turn 5, 320AD
Cat knocks Copenhagen down to 7. Oh please, just one more pop gone. Sadly the other 5 cats miss.
Hereid is now isolated due to pillaging.
China's price for an MA against the Vikings keeps dropping; soon it may be them paying us.
Up lux to 30%
IBT-
zerk kills pike near Stockholm and redlines.
zerk appears from Stravanger.
zerk kills ansar near Hereid, -1HP. Do ansars retreat or am I just cursed lately?
Turn 6, 330AD
vet Ansar kills zerk, -3HP but we get a promo.
Cats destroy the barracks and colesium in Copenhagen. Sadly, no pop drop.
IBT-
India and Scandinavia sign peace treaty. Our income doubles.
Renegotiate incense for 13gpt, up from 9.
Renegotiate dyes for 11gpt, up from 7.
China building Newton's.
Ottomans building Magellan's.
Turn 7, 340AD
Cats go 1/7, destroying temple.
ansar redlines zerk and dies... i hate ansars right now.
Upgrade a host of warriors to MIs in Damascus. This is going to be our big push, I think. Probably for the next player, too.
IBT-
Ottoman's want to talk: they want an MA vs. India. Well, they won't even tempt so, so I dismiss em.
Ottoman's building Newton's.
Turn 8, 350AD
Cats go 1/7, hitting a musket.
China has taken Molde, a weak Viking city in their far east.
Turn 9, 360AD
Cats go 3/7, hitting a musket each. This looks like it's the turn.
MDI dies, -1HP off musket.
MDI dies, -1HP off musket.
MDI dies -- they do that well.
MDI dies, nada.
MDI wins

, only -1HP and promos.
Ansar redlines musket and dies.
Ansar dies fruitlessly.
Ansar redlines musket and dies.
Ansar kills musket flawlesly.
Ansar kills musket, -2HP and we take the city!
5 resistors, production set to barracks and citizens set to starve.
Move remaining troops to Hareid, my next target. Culturally, it is the one to hit, and it has already been pillaged and separated from the rest of their empire.
Rognar will now give us Theology for peace.
Turn 10, 370AD
Pillage the iron near Stockholm. An egyptian musket tells me that I wasn't the only one with that plan. This also cuts off the towns of Stockholm, Vadso, and Karasjok from the rest of the Viking empire.
Move troops and workers towars Hareid.
Vikings will give us Theo for peace; not much else. I think we need to convince them otherwise.
Final thoughts:
High cost on taking Copenhagen. With muskets on a hill, we can expect the same from Hareid -- maybe less if we can keep those muskets as vets before we commit. Reykjavik and Karasjok are also on hills, but the rest are not.
May want to change Damascus to FP like Bede mentioned.
Did not MM or diplo this turn.
Do not attack Hareid until you decide to fully commit to it. At the current technology level, expect to lose about as many troops as I did, even though I had bad RNG.
Good luck to the next player; you'll need it.
