Anno 2070

The reason 1404 (or Dawn of Discovery) is dropped from Steam at the moment is because of a security key issue. Apparently, when it was available, Venice would work, but you couldn't access the original game (and therefore the campaign which doubles as a tutorial) as it tries to use the Venice security key to authenticate the original game. Therefore they decided to simply make it unavailable.

I purchased the "Gold" set from Amazon for £6.49 and only had to wait a couple of days and it was well worth the money. Brilliant game with lovely visuals, and to me, an evolution of the Caesar/Pharoah/Zeus city building games I used to love with very similar mechanics.

I've tried the 2070 demo and again it looks and plays awesome (although the light bloom seems a little over the top), but after playing a couple of levels it just seems to be 1404 with different graphics and I'm not sure it's worth the expenditure...

I bought Anno 1404 Gold Edition for 10€. I don't have much time playing that game, though, for Anno 2070 swallows that time up. ;)

Bought the game at a local store for 49,95€, installed it, watched the intro and off we go to the first chapter of the campaign. Then I noticed that all the units, buildings and islands were plain gray. Actually, EVERYTHING but the water was plain gray!

Does anyone know what's the cause for this? I'm guessing it's the shader as the game requires a 3.0 shader and I'm not sure what I have. I'll probably buy a new computer if I can't fix this as I've been yearning for one for a long time already.

There is a way: get a crack.
If you buy a game and the DRM and copy protection annoy you, you can always find a crack on the internet.

Better idea: Don't buy the game, because if you do then Ubisoft counts you as another customer who is completely A-Okay with the DRM, and if you crack it and Ubisoft looks at the download count for that crack (assuming you torrented it anyway) they assume that there is yet another pirate and they must further strengthen their DRM.

I bought them game and I simply love it. Been playing many many hours already, and I think it's affecting my sleep...thinking about the game while trying to sleep, lol, just like when I was playing Civ V a ton. Not good.

The entire Anno series is PC only. However according to wikipedia Caesar III is available for Mac, you may also be able to get other city builders and the older Anno titles to run in Bootcamp.

I got this game in the most recent Steam sale. Does anyone else think Strindberg sounds a lot like David Sarif from Deus Ex? I'm not sure if they're the same VA but I can't help but think of it.
