I'm interested in starting a new succession game. I realized that since my laptop isn't upgraded I could compete in both a European and an American team on my two different computers, so that is what I want to do- would anyone have an ethical problem with that if I left it to 10 terms per team?

Having seen the glory of the Berserkers in Monarch level I thought I'd approach monarch level with the much-later UU American tribe at Monarch level, with the unusual combination of expansionist and industrious. To make the most of the former trait, I'm thinking of making it a large world with full land mass continent or Pangea configuration.

First player (me) does 20 turns, then 10 from then on with the usual fudging around important moments or laggard players. I'll take four version 1.14 players to round out the rotation.

1. Antonius Block
2. Banzai
3. Stapel
4. Col
5. Control Freak

Alternates:
1.
2.

I will start the American thread now; I think I will play the first twenty turns on version 1.14 to start both teams off, the first American player after me can then open the game in 1.21 and continue forward.

Count me in Sultan ;)

Why do you want to participate in both teams btw? You want to sabotage the EU efforts? :nono: !

Reg,
FIAT

Thanks Padma, I did mean succession. I'm through with PBEMs mostly! I will rewrite the first post to include the players that have signed on so far.

EDIT: Welcome Banzai to CFC. And Stapel, no it wasn't to sabotage anybody but to see the differences (if any noticeable) between the patches and between the way both sides of the Atlantic handle long term campaigns (I set the game up so it will probably take a long time to knock down). If you guys on the EU team don't want me to keep going with it, you can vote me out after I post the first 20 turns (but you risk becoming irrelevant! ;) )

Col has signed on. With his addition, I feel comfortable releasing the game on to Banzai (plays next) and Stapel (on deck).

Here's how it all begins:

(Please note, if you don't like my naming of any cities or units, feel free to change them).

1. 4000 BC Beautiful starting location; Scout #1 (Louis) climbs mountain NW of settler to reveal optimal setting; settler builds Capital City on the Capital River, citizen at work irrigating a grassland, when our borders grow we will have irrigable wheat! First build set to Scout. Offturn: Our president chooses to pursue Ceremonial Burial to give us the proper somber tone; 36 turns away…
2. 3950 BC Scout moves around city perimeter, worker to irrigate.
3. 3900 BC Scout spots a hut.
4. 3850 BC The Anasazi or “Old Ones” Native American tribe teach us Warrior code. The field is irrigated and a road is ordered for it. Ah, industrious!
5. 3800 BC The Scout finds the Coast, and the first American sets sight on the sea. Offturn: Scout #2 (Clarke) is built>a warrior is commissioned.
6. 3750 BC Clarke discovers quite nearby, silk worms and a lush river basin.
7. 3700 BC Clarke finds the Inuit tribe, who give 25 gold as a gift to the President. Our treasury is at 47 and growing minimally. Having moved to the other grassland, the worker is mining it.
8. 3650 BC Louis enters a hut and finds a Teotihuacan settler. He moves one space to the side of the Mexico River where he’ll found a city amid cattle pasture. Clarke discovers “The Other Coast”.
9. 3600 BC Teotihuacattle City founded, first build: Scout.
10. 3550 BC Clarke locates the Capital River delta amid jungle in the north. Offturn: Capital City Watchmen 1st Precint built>scout in 3 more turns.
11. 3500 BC All is well.
12. 3450 BC Teotihuacattle City scout build changed to warrior when it becomes clear that the scout wont be needed.
13. 3400 BC All is well.
14. 3350 BC 66 gold, 3 gpt, Ceremonial Burial in 8 turns. Offturn: Capital city scout #3 (Sacajawea) built>settler is next.
15. 3300 BC Louis finds 25 gold treasure in a hut.
16. 3250 BC All is well.
17. 3200 BC Clark finds a Saxon hut utterly deserted. L Sacajawea gets maps of a huge, horrible mountain range to the south.
18. 3150 BC All is well. Teotihuacattle granary turned to warrior instead for escort for Capital city settler. Offturn: Teotihuacattle Warrior>Settler.
19. 3100 BC All is well.
20. 3050 BC All is well- you are about to learn Ceremonial burial, 111 gold +4 per turn, lots of great land around to fill with settlers; I’d consider alternating settlers and warriors/spearman when we get bronze working from the two initial cities for at least 3 more builds before moving to granaries. But my work here is done, let’s see how y’all handle it…

Got it! Will play tonight.

edit:  I got an error posting this message, but when I closed and reopend IE my reply was here but the main thread didn't show my message. Oh well. :crazyeye:

Barbarians: sedate.

Opponents: half of what was possible.

0: 3050 BC.
Teotihuacattle? Are we playing the Aztec? Wow. It is on a river and has three cows in range!
Switch settler to worker to improve those tiles. Ready in three.

I notice that The Capital City has three (!!) irrigated grasslands. One with the wheat, one to bring irrigation to the wheat, but why the third?
Irrigated grass will not give additional food in despotism!

I also notice five floodplains to the north! This is a good site for a settler/worker factory.

1: 3000 BC.
Ceremonial Burial researched! Bronze next at max in 12.

2: 2950 BC.
Some recon reveals more jungle. We'll need lots of workers!

3: 2900 BC.
The Capital builds a settler. With less then max opponents and (soon to have) two cities being capable of building lots of settlers I think the Pyramids will be very usefull.
I start the Capital on this great project. This can of course be changed.
Teo builds a worker and starts a granary. It can build the settlers much faster with one and I don't think there are many opponents nearby to steal our land.
The settler, being escorted by a warrior, heads for the floadplain site while the worker walks to some cows.
Our first worker starts mining a BG tile.

4: 2850 BC.
More recon shows more jungle!

5: 2800 BC.
Settler arrives safely at the floadplain site!

6: 2750 BC.
Boston founded on river! Three floadplain and silks in immediate range. Two more floadplains more silks and a hill in range after the border expands.
A warrior is ordered.
The workers finished mining and irrigating and starts building roads.

7: 2710 BC.
More scouting reveals some fertile land hidden behind the mountains to the south.
There seems to be no end to the jungle!

8: 2680 BC.
The roads are finished. Workers are send to another cow and a BG tile.

9: 2630 BC.
Worker start irrigation the cow.

10: 2590 BC.
Worker stars mining BG tile.
Scouts reveal more jungle.
Teo grows to size 4. Lux raised to 20% to prevent riots.
Teo can switch to barracks, whip it for 18 shields and switch back to granary if you want.
It can also switch to settler (ready in 2).
The granary will finish in 10.
Bronze will be researched in 2.

I have not seen any signs of life, nor popped any huts!

Stapel is next. Good luck!
Banzai!

Teo can switch to barracks, whip it for 18 shields and switch back to granary if you want.

If this isn't considered an exploit, I'd love to see this happen.

Hey, I'm signed up and I didn't even post here yet.

Before I say OK I have some comments and questions.

Comment, This is my second SG and the other one was LK33-Regent best-ball shadow. I have won on Monarch and Emporer in the last few GOTMs but I'm not the greatest player. If you don't mind, I'm in. I look forward to following Col, whose exploits I follow in the GOTM threads.

I'm online at work and play at home so can we get some screen shots and stuff? I'm assuming the usual 24hr got it, 48hr post it. I'll have to be careful if my turn is coming up near a Friday as I don't usually get online over the weekends (warning:o ).

Did you go with large map? Panagea or Continents?

Anyway, that's my story. Hope you'll have me.

ControlFreak

P.S. Are you going to assign a three character code like AB1 or SSS to shorten filenames?

@Antonius Block: An exploit? no.. It's a feature!

@ControlFreak: Welcome! If this is your second SG then you have more experience than me! This is my first.
I have played several epics at Realms Beyond though and have lots of monarch, several emperor and one diety victory on my 'CV'

Banzai!

@Banzai
Well then I guess I'll have lots of experience to learn from!

I'm from the camp that likes to have a lot of premove discussion. I hope you all are the same. My interest is peaked and I would love to see map. Can someone post a screenie?

I am going to look at the tutorial and try to post a screenshot Control Freak. Yes I am sorry everyone that I did not write out the full specs for the game, kind of felt embarassed that I'd gone with large continents, normal weather, sedentary barbs, and half of the normal allotment of civs.

0. 2590 BC. Check. We have 3 cities. Ok. One is building a wonder  2 will become settler factories. They will also have to produce warriors and:
LOTS OF SCOUTS! 3 is not enough!
So we have a problem. Our cattle city is a fine production and growth city, so it will have to build scouts too.

Who the hell is so fond of irrigating? We need mines!
As we will go for pyramids, and our cattle city has high growth, we do not build a granary there, but barracks.

Lux ans science is fine.

1. 2550BC.
2. 1210 BC. We know BW. Gon with the wheel, so we will leran alphabet from a goody hut. Science to 60%
3. 2470 BC. Lux to zero. 1 entertainer in cattlecity. Switch production to temple. We see pink civ….
4. 2430 BC. Te call themselves Arabians. They know how to roll things and they are ?mystic? They ask high prices for sharing knowledge…. We find a warrior. Boston switched to granary as the warrior will go there.
5. 2390 BC.
6. 2350 BC. I decide to switch Boston to scout. We are expansionist!
7. 2310 BC. We meet the Koreans after popping Alphabet from a hut. The Arabs already know alphabet.
8. 2270 BC.
9. 2230 BC. Cattle city starts settlers. We pop nothing from a hut…..
10. 2190 BC.
