Any local slang?

Earlier this year, my sister went to Washington DC to do this thing where they got to meet congresspeople and pretend to be the House. She met people from across the country. While there, she noticed that no one outside of northern California knew what hella means. It means "a lot of" or "very." I never even knew that only we use it until my sister told me. Does your area/city/state/region/whatever have anything like that? We probably have a few more local slang words, but I just don't know what they are (a few are probably local and the rest are national, though I do not know which are which).

You probably use fat as an adj. but not a noun, as convention dictates.

For example on the slang, if you see a group of overweight people walk into a restaurant you can say: "Oh God, look at all those fats that just came in, I hope they dont sit next to us."

I've never heard of that word before. I feel uncool . We call them trendies or wicked bro's or claaaats (taking the cue from your avatar) (with that nasal Caaaaadiff accent, or just a generic Newport accent).

Blad's another welsh (valleys) word, meaning "friend", as in "ar-right blad?" (that's "alright" with no "L", and sometime no "r" either, as in "a-ite".)

"boss" and "butt" are other welsh words I used to hear in da Port, "butt" meaning "friend", and "boss" just being some generic phrase you add onto the end of a sentence, like "mate", as in "I'll do it in a minute, boss", or "aww yes boss, new alloys!". I don't think people say "boss" anymore.

"bangin" refers to music, or just a general good thing, like "aww yes boss, them speakers are bangin".

I looked "minging" up on dictionary.com, and it gave me "mince" somehow, so I guess it's slang, even though it's used all over the country, meaning "disgusting" or "ugly", depending on whether it's a thing or a person it's referring to. It's normally pronounced "mingin", without the g. "minger" is the noun. "The Ming Dynasty" is also used to describe a group of ugly girls.

dis- that's like an insult. some other people call it a burn, or a zing.

then we just make up nicknames, like Forest , the Pimping Pope , Greene, shorty, super asian , ghetto-man , and french horn

My girlfriend teaches in a rather nasty north London school and often tells me the incomprehensible patois that is spoken by "da kidz" there. I can't understand any of it. In fact I can't understand most London slang. For a taster of how kids here speak, have a look at http://www.azlyrics.com/r/rascal.html I should mention that the spelling in this site is substantially better than that found in the semi-literate exercise books I find lying around, too.

The worst thing in London, which really, REALLY annoys me, and which appears to be universally used (especially by the burgeoning chav population), is "innit". This replaces not just "isn't it?" but "don't you?" "haven't they?" "shall we?" and any similar expression. Thus, it is like "n'est-ce-pas" in French or "desu ne" in Japanese. So you hear things like, "I dunno boss, innit?" or "Don't diss me, blood, innit bruv."

At first when I heard this I thought it was simply being used by foreigners who didn't understand English grammar, and who thought that "isn't it?" really was equivalent to "n'est-ce-pas". Then I realised that those strange mumbling people with incomprehensible accents aren't foreigners, but Londoners, born and bred here.

Now when I hear this I want to kill people. Someday soon I will.
