Anybody else playing civ4 on a low end system?

I would like to test it on my 'low-spec' machine:AMD 1.0, 512 ram and ATI 9800pro(!), but it doesnt load and produces a dll. error. I am pretty sure that it is because I am on Windows ME.

Anyone able to run CivIV on Win Me since patch 1.52?

Game still lags and bogs down in the late game stages. What's strange is that I borrowed an IBM Thinkpad from work and loaded CIV IV on it to try:

Pentium M 1.8
512 RAM
Intel Graphics card 64MB

The game runs like a champ!!! Lightening speed, no lag! What gives?!!!

the thinkpad is built for better performance, the components function better together, plus it might have a cleaner registry

Civ IV runs on my DELL Inspiron 510m with a 1.4 GHz Centrino, 512 MB DDR-RAM and a Intel 852 On-Board-Video Chip. Everything on lowest settings of course, but for the higher settings I have my Desktop . It's pretty cool being able to play Civ IV during free hours at University...
