Anyone playing Civ3: Complete (mac) right now?

You could have a look at www.lowendmac.com and www.xlr8yourmac.com for ideas. I did see some discussion on clocking the eMac CPU once.

I believe you have a Radeon 9600 with 64 MB video RAM, so your graphics are just about up to the task, and your RAM sounds OK. But unless you can get well over 1 GHz CPU performance I imagine you'll have problems running Civ4. However, all this is speculation, based on hints from Brad and the experiences of PC players. We'll have to wait until Aspyr has done some optimisation and testing before we know what the min specs are.

...Over the past 4 months, I've become addicted to E-Bay.

I bought a copy for 20.51 which came to 27.27 with shipping. (If you're thinking of doing the same make sure that it is the December 2005 version from Aspyr)

I'm running a G4 iBook. [goto the apple menu, select 'about this mac', select 'more info'] with 1.07GHz, 512k cache, 133MHz Bus, and 768 MB ram. [select graphics] It has the ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 graphics card (32MB VRam).

I'm not worried about C3C (I never played huge or even large maps on my PC, so it shouldn't be a big deal), but from what Brad has said I will not be able to play C-IV on it. Major bummer, but I should have a good time playing C3C outside or wherever my (almost) 4 hour battery takes me... pretty excited. Hope it doesn't get me fired! ;) [that's was running joke about getting C-IV on the laptop, but since that won't work I'm transferring it to C3C]

I'd wanted to buy a new desktop machine once C-IV came out, but as it stands I think I will wait for the 2G Intelimacs to come out and see if I can't get a deal on someone's used 1G. (Assuming that the 1G Intelimacs run C-IV fine, that is!)

I have about the fastest 15" powerbook (G4) you can get (1.5Ghz, 1gb ram, 5400rpm toshy HD) and C3C runs fine, but playing on a huge map I'm definitely noticing the lag between turns. At the mo (I'm playing Americans on a world map, totally dominating both Americas, 13 civs in europe/africa/asia) and the please wait takes maybe 30 seconds. Not worth browsing!

Worth noting here, and I know the sep thread is closed, but I do some travelling, and I'm seriously dark at having to drag my CD wallet around with me to pop in the DVD every time I want a hit. Not to mention what it does to battery life on a plane or in the lounge. Not happy Jan.
Piracy, sure, I understand why you'd shut down the thread. But I'm a legit customer whose DVD is getting scratched, with no way to protect myself. THAT's not helpful.

Eject the DVD once the game has started and the battery hit is minimal.

Keep your receipt. Aspyr will replace DVDs that get scratched if you contact our support.

I didn't know you could eject it after starting the game. I wasn't so concerned about scratches, as data cds are generally less vulnerable than audio, but it is refreshing to hear that Aspyr will replace them.

I had no idea you could do that either, a few days ago I tried to make a copy of the disc but the game refused it and wanted the original.
