While I have Civ 4 and 5 and have played 4 for quite a long time, now after just trying Civ 3 once again, I feel it to be way more playable and don't play the newer ones anymore.
Civ 4 is too much micro-Management with all the upgrades on each individual unit. Also the graphics are really meh.
Civ 3 sure had a bunch of things I didn't like, like corruption for example, but I've modded em all out and now have a perfectly enjoyable game.
The things I miss a little bit in Civ 3 are "fortify until healed" and the trade overview from civ 4. Everything else is just better.

Glad to see you coming back!I've played IV and V but still prefer Civ3, Conquests of course. Haven't played it for a long time but felt like giving it another go so dropped in here today to find the patch. Interesting to see so many still seem to be playing it.
BTW I've long since stopped working for BreakAway (work for a different game company now) so if anybody could change that please
I loved Civ 3, and I knew it backward and forward. I feel I maxed out my ability on that game, playing thousands of hours. It's a great game, but Civ 5 is 100 times more complex. Military tactics are so much more challenging in Civ 5, where you cant stack 20 Modern Armor on one tile. I could conquer the world at Emperor level in Civ 3, I don't think that's possible in Civ 5
The entire flaw in Civ V is that it is an eternal rental. That was the deal breaker for me. why throw away $50.oo and never be able to play the game. (I will never do any business online and certainly not extortion payments)

Does a new player count?![]()
