howdy y'all,

even tho i vaguely recall seeing something on the subject many moons ago, i've tried searching and found nothing. [*sigh ...*] so here i am asking ...

has anyone here tried more than the two standard traits for civs? something like "sci, ind, com" for instance?

if so, what are the pros & cons & gotchas?

take care,
lee

Try looking over in the Creation and Customization forum - some of the mods there have done that.

As for the pros and cons, I've not played enough with three trait civs to appreciate having extra traits. I would think that it would add some uniqueness and strengths, but at the same time, turn them into a group where traits don't matter a whole lot, and players would start playing them all the same. As it is now, two-trait civs require different playing styles for most of them, and I'd say they're fairly balanced in most regards.

I'm sure the more experienced players can give differing views on the subject, tho'. :)

howdy CivAgamemnon,

thanks for the info. i can see the problem with making civs too lacking in contrast. good point - it never occurred to me. [*grin*]

i'll wander over to the customization section and ask again there.

take care,
lee

The only thing that comes to mind is that it is harder to get a golden age via wonders since you need to fulfill an extra trait.

howdy Fugitive Sisyphus,

is that how it works? i thot that any trait-matching wonder had a roughly equal chance to trigger a GA. hmm, musta misread that in the manual.

take care,
lee

You must build Wonders that match the traits of your Civ. For instance, if you are Militaristic and Industrious, you must build/possess Wonders that have the appropriate attributes: e.g., the Hanging Gardens (Industrious) and Universal Suffrage (Militaristic). If you have a third trait, you must also build/possess a Wonder that matches that trait. So, Militaristic/Industrious/Expansionist might be Hanging Gardens, Universal Suffrage, and Copernicus' Observatory. Of course, a given Wonder may match more than one trait, e.g., Great Wall = Militaristic and Industrious. So Great Wall + Copernicus' would match the M/I/E Civ.

Whenever you complete a Wonder, Civ looks at all the Wonders currently in your possession, and if any combination of them matches your traits, you get a GA, if you haven't had one yet.

howdy y'all,

i goofed up and failed to make it clear that this thread has been replaced [or perhaps superseded?] by another thread in the creation&customization section. as recommended by CivAgamemnon, i made a new thread there. lookee ...
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=313294

the answers here and there have been very helpful! my thanks to you all. [*grin*]

please, would you not post here anymore? you're _more_ than welcome to follow along to the other thread. i don't wanna get gigged by the forum gods for duping stuff! [*grin*]

take care,
lee
