AP-2 Suleiman's conquest (RFC)

Seems good. :)

Our vassal Persia is Unstable currently. We should prioritize capturing Delhi from Khmer and liberate it to them to boost their stability. This would also get Perisa a Sugar resource which we should promptly demand to increase our health.

Since Trynthlas is busy, he said I should take up his moves.

0. 1866 Um, this plague has us in a real mess. Unhappiness is rampant (+5 for each city without a troop). I rapidly send our troops back to ensure the citizens' safety, and I buy some new IAs and SBs, while other cities which can produce hospitals and cannons (hey, cannons are troops too) will do so in 1 turn. We cannot afford to build wealth anymore at this time until things stabilize.
I liberate Fort Albany to the Americans (not a particularly productive city, and it will help with our stability).
I export our coal for nearly all our vassals' health resources (don't worry, I'll give it back to them when the plague's over).
I send half our fleet of destroyers towards the Far East, and I pack some workers (sitting in New Orleans?) towards the Old World since we need railroads in nearly all our European and Middle East holdings.
(so why did we not research medicine earlier as I suggested?)

1. 1868 Tampico is captured. We have another Great General (Khalid ibn al-Walid) who I send to Gaziantep.
2. 1870 Our troops approach Coyuca and Tenochtitlan.
3. 1872 Since we have our 2/3 UHV, a golden age starts, but at the same time, Vikings declare war on us. Mt. Rushmore built in Gaziantep. I start Red Cross there. I recapture Kostroma which doesn't have any revolts. I sell rifling to Spain and Medicine to Persia. Since we don't really want to build any more cities, I start National Park in Duluth (2 turns). We're just barely stable.
4. 1874 AP election comes up, Bismarck and us are the only candidates. Leningrad is captured by the Germans. We capture Coyuca which we keep but raze Tenochtitlan. We burn Kalinin (since it's too close to Moskva).
5. 1876 Of course we win the AP election. Plague is done. Industrialism comes, I research fission. The stupid Spanish get their Buenos Aires captured by the Incans. Our ships arrive in the Far East, wreaking havoc on poor fishermen and whalers. I notice Persia loses Jaipur to independence, and so I sell rifling to them cheaply as a Khmer stack is approaching Kabura. Our stability is declining rather rapidly (due to the large area we occupy in Russia), so I had no choice but to switch to police state and nationhood now.:(
6. 1878 Indian cities declare independence (flips Kabura). I give them a world map and open borders with them. (When we have eradicated the Vikings, we can come back and get India). The Aztecs cease to exist. I raze Copan but keep Oaxaca (a good bridge for troops heading west. I liberate Coyuca to the Americans but keep Tampico and Oaxaca. As long as we're stable, if we control at least one city in their spawn areas, they (Mayans or Aztecs) won't respawn.
7. 1880 I send our troops and ships towards Inca and hit them in the back. The procedure is capturing all their cities start with the capitals and working our way back to Spanish land, then liberating most of them to the Spanish.
8. 1882 Vasa is captured. A great scientist is born, I use it to shave a turn off fission.
9. 1884 Lulea is captured. I liberate Oaxaca since our stability is going down again. I make peace with them, getting Oslo in the process (they're willing to capitulate but I decline), because the next turn they...
10. 1886 ...collapse. I capture the newly independent Wonderstrand, and liberate to America. I liberate our Vikings cities to Germany, boosting our stability to solid (28) and their (in)stability to stable.

To do:
1. Finish off the Incans and liberate all our South American cities to Spain.
2. Remember to use our destroyers to bombard (even if the computer doesn't remind you because they're blockading right now) and kill stray enemy ships.
3. New Orleans should build more transports while other cities should build lots of tanks.
4. Direct the Americans and Germans to research artillery so we can steal it from them. Then we research rocketry, unless we get flight first (both are prereqs for rocketry).
5. Next research should be flight (I'm sick of these useless airships and we need airports to boost our economy and be able to fly troops to newly conquered cities.
6. Need to liberate more cities to our vassals, because next turn our golden age is up. Good indy cities to liberate are Vancouver (some indy troops are heading towards us in Canada), Vinland, Arguin, Trondheim, Inta, Brjanks and Nizhnij Tagil. Even if our vassals won't accept them, see if India will want them.
7. Do not move the stacks in Rome, Paris and Mediolanum away, in case France, Rome or Greece decide to respawn.
8. Between troops, build a missionary to spread religion since it'll help with happiness and they next turn you may be able to build a troop in 1 turn from the overflow hammers. Europe can use a lot more Islam while the Middle East can use Christianity. America and England can use a lot of more of religions other than Judaism
9. We should declare war on the Indians soon before they build up too much more, but DON'T KILL THEM (at least not now). If they capitulate, fine, because we can then liberate lots of cities to them, if not, then we should make peace when they're down to 1 city, and give them all the crappy cities we don't want.
10. No matter what, please don't automate workers. We need to build some directed railroads to facilitate troop movement across Europe. Also, some of the oil in Arabia isn't connected yet with forts, and Kostroma isn't improved enough.
11. In general, capture capitals first, then other cities.

Blizzrd, why don't you play next.

That's a very good set of turns :) All we need now is an army big enough for China and Japan.

Again, it's not whether we can build that army or not (Gaziantep, Denver and maybe Chicago can build a tank in 1-2 turns, and all we need are about 10-12 tanks), it's whether we can buffer our stability with liberation and poison pills (if you know what I mean). Anyway, once we have nukes, the larger their armies, the more losses for them. :)
Remember also we have to avoid domination (right now the land limit is 32%, but if a respawn happens it will be 30%). The Dutch are about to make a comeback soon, hence the small stack in Paris.
Try to conquer as many indy cities, hold them till the end of the turn, then liberate (it's better than liberating them one by one).

Don't update to the new patch (1.184) until we know whether it's compatible with the previous one.

How do you know the Dutch are about to make a comeback?

Because there's an exception in the respawn code that specifically states that Amsterdam can respawn by itself, whereas most of the other civs need 2 or more cities. Portugal is gone for good since there are no cities in their spawn space, while Mali still has a chance (hence we should raze it rather than give it to somebody). And since the Germans have to be very solid (not just solid) to avoid a respawn of a capital, the Dutch are very likely to be next in line unless we seriously screw up.

Oh I see... So if we say raze all cities on the Japanese island then there's no chance of them respawning? (except if someone founds 2 or more cities there).

Earlier, I hit "end turn" a few times from my previous save and a few turns later the Dutch respawned (as opposed to Arabia as happened when Burnemdown played the next turn set). The Dutch had Amsterdam but also respawned with their former city on the coast south of the Mali spawn zone. Did we raze this independent city at any stage?

No, I was too busy saving the Spanish's asses in South America. I thought about sending a convoy there, but now we just have to go declare war against the Dutch. Might as well happen now. We should probably keep Amsterdam but make sure it doesn't eat into Paris's workspace.

You misunderstood my meaning AP.

I meant that many days ago I continued from the last save that I posted (at that time) for a few turns and saw a Dutch respawn - which included them respawning with a city on the southern coast of West Africa. When Burnemdown then continued our turns (prior to your recent set of turns) it turned out to be Arabia that respawned and not the Dutch anyway.

I only mentioned all this because you were getting excited about a Dutch respawn at the end of your recent turn set. AFAIK, the Dutch have not actually respawned (yet?).

Well Amsterdam is in German hands, so they must have done something different during your play which enabled the dutch to respawn.

I wasn't playing, I just hit "end turn" a few times.

The RNG came up with Arabia for you and Dutch for me, that's all that was really different. It happened on exactly the same turn each time.

On another note, I was playing the turn set tonight and I unfortunately won a Domination Victory in 1902 (the 8th turn) by mistake. I was basically too fast in conquering territory before eliminating civs. I took down Inca and Ethiopia and vassalized India. Domination required 36% and I had 36.41% of land area.

I will have to try again tomorrow.

Yes, the Incans have to be eliminated first (and we divest all our South American holdings), then the Indians (who only have 3 cities), then the Japanese or Ethiopians, and lastly the Chinese and Khmer. Otherwise we already own too much land. Raze a city or 2 in Ethiopia.

That's one side effect of Turkey's UP that we have to be aware of. You get instant cultural conversion when revolt is done, but it raises your territory a lot, unlike other civs which I can usually adjust by giving away cities or just razing them.

Turn 0: 1886AD
We are at war with China (and their vassal Ethiopia) and Japan (and their vassals Khmer and Inca). The only other civ that isn't already our vassal is India.

I renegotiate our deals with America, returning their health resources and demaning just their surplus goods. Gift Iron, Footballs, Singles, Dye and Wine to America. Sell Communism to America for 200g + WM.

Gift Physics to Germany (which they were trying to research themselves) and tell them to start on Artillery instead. Gift Cotton, Footballs and Singles to Germany.

Sell Steam Power to Spain for 30g + WM. Gift Fur to Spain. Persia is really backwards. Gift them Philosophy and Steam Power. Trade Fish to India for 2gpt. Sell Liberalism to India for 30g.

Steal 28g from Berlin. We still have many turns before Germany will learn Artillery and more than enough espionage points to steal a tech from them without any discounts.

Remove forced specialists in a bunch of cities. Our cash isn't particularly helpful to us just now so I spend some of it upgrading a few obsolete units.

We are Solid (+28).

Turn 1: 1888AD
Fission is learnt, choose Flight next (9 turns). Our Golden Age ends and I scale back our Science to 60%. Turkish revolt in Dalmun. Start Manhattan Project in Gaziantep. As we come out of our Golden Age we are Very Solid (+40).

Capture Ullytaytanpu and destroy the Incan civ. Spain won't accept this city at the moment. Capture Buenos Aires and liberate to Spain, who becomes Solid (was Shaky). Spain still won't accept any of the Incan cities though.

Capture Trondheim and liberate to Germany. Kill 2x Japanese Frigates and 1x Independent Galleon. Capture Nizhnij Tagil. No civ will accept this city at the moment so I think we should put capturing the Siberian cities on hold for now else our cultural area gets too big too quickly.

Capture and raze Dashur, an Ethiopian city within Egypt's spawn zone, to prevent any Egyptian respawn possibility.

Capture Vinland. America will accept, but for now we can keep this city and liberate it when our stability needs a boost. We finish this turn Very Solid (+55).

We have no Bananas, but America does. Demand Banana from them. This alleviates some of our health problems in a few of our biggest cities.

Turn 2: 1890AD
Start this turn Solid (+22). Chinese send a stack of cavalry towards Samarkand just as our first tanks arrive in the area. Our troops unload next to Kyouto and our destroyers continue their bombardment of the Japanese capital. More troops are crossing the Pacific currently.

I decided that Japan is our next target. If they don't Capitulate it will at least release their vassal Khmer from servitude which means that Khmer might start accepting our trashy cities. If Japan does capitulate, they can keep their Incan cities for us. I don't think Spain is ever likely to accept them unfortunately - Spain currently thinks that they should Liberate Buenos Aires to us and is not interested in accepting anything.

Sell Liberalism to Germany for 200g + WM. Our economy finishes 70% Science, 395g -92gpt.

Turn 3: 1892AD
Start this turn Stable (+5). Sell Communism to Spain for 60g + WM. Kill 2x Japanese Frigates and 1x Galleon. Remove 5 defenders from Kyouto. Kill 2x Chinese Cavalry near Samarkand. Kill a Chinese Frigate in the Indian Ocean.

Persia is now Collapsing. Declare war on India. Capture Kabura and liberate to Persia. Persia is now Stable again. Our stability finishes the turn Stable (+9). Keep spreading religions throughout our European and Middle Eastern cities. Our economy is 70% Science with 411g +41 gpt.

Turn 4: 1894AD
On the defensive, one of our Destroyers near Japan kills 6 Japanese Frigates before eventually being sunk by the 7th.

We start this turn Solid (+20). China has dropped to Unstable/Collapsing. Sell Communism to Germany for 100g. Kill Independent units (Maceman and Knight) approaching Denizli.

Capture Kyouto. We have no Gems so I also capture Brjonkis on the Arctic coast of Russia. Capture Jaipur and liberate to Persia, who now becomes Solid. Capture and raze Fort Apollonia to prevent Dutch/Mali from respawning with this city. We finish the turn Solid (+31).

Turn 5: 1896AD
On the defensive, our Tank kills an Independent Redcoat near Vancouver. Our tanks defending Samarkand (Persian) kill a Chinese Cavalry and Rifleman for the loss of one Tank. We start the turn Stable (+10).

Capture Matsuyama (Japanese). Capture Dilli and liberate to Persia. Capture Vancouver (Independent). America will currently accept Vinland and Vancouver but I keep these for now as our stability is OK. We finish the turn Solid (+20). A Great General is born in London.

As infrastructure is completed in some of our minor cities (those that cannot produce Missionaries) I switch them over to Wealth because they take too long to build Tanks. Our economy is now up to 80% Science and we have 1551g +21gpt. I return Incence to Persia as we have plenty and it was their only. Upgrade minor gpt deals with Spain, Germany and America by 1gpt each.

Currently Germany and Spain are Solid, while America and Persia are Stable. We have 26.37% land area and Domination kicks in at 34% (until India dies soon, when the threshold should rise to 36%). India would Capitulate to us, but they are of no use to us with one city in southern India.

I guess the only way Persia can become stable is to accept a shrine which will boost their economy, namely, Patna.

If we capture Cuzco maybe Spain will accept them. Arguin should definitely be theirs.

Divest Vinland ASAP--it's a drain on the economy and if our culture is too strong, sometimes the Americans can't get it.

Turn 6: 1898AD
Start at Shaky (-3). Japan won't vassalize to us because they "are afraid of our enemies". So I make a ceasefire agreement with China/Ethiopia. Now they won't vassalize to us because they "are doing fine on their own". I think they need to lose Khmer as a vassal before they can vassalize to us?

Capture the new Japanese capital of Aomori. Then capture the new Japanese capital of Toukyou. Then capture the new Japanese capital of Kisi. Capture Ariqipaya. Capture Qusqu. Liberate Kisi to China.

Capture and raze Mbanza Kongo. Capture and raze Arguin (Spain doesn't want it). We don't want to have to come back to these cities, they are a long way from anywhere else.

Eliminating India was a mistake. Instead, I weaken Chennai and then sue for peace, forcing them to accept 4 cities on Japan's home island, 4 former Incan/Japanese cities in South America, Vinland, Vancouver and Brjianks.

Our stability finishes on Very Solid (+65). With lots of gold now (2.5K) I pump research to 100% so that Flight finishes next turn.

Turn 7: 1900AD
Japan collapses. Ethiopia loses Kobbe to independence (this may have happened earlier, but I didn't notice until now). Flight comes in, start Rocketry next. Manhattan project completed in Gaziantep. Begin constructing airports in most of our cities. Drop research to 60% while we haven't any cities building Wealth. Rocketry in 10 turns at 60%.

India will now accept almost any city from us, should we need to raise our stability again. Not for a while though, we start this turn Very Solid (+81). Time for some healing/consolidation and then to take up the war against Khmer.

Trade Hit Singles to China for Silk. China would take up a Defensive Pact with us, but we couldn't get a 5th vassal if we did this so I decline. Footballs to China for 11gpt.

Capture Inta and Nizhnevatovskij (independent cities in Siberia). India will currently accept these if we needed to liberate something. We finish Very Solid (+83).

Turn 8: 1902AD
Capture Mombassa from the Natives. Capture Fukuoka to establish a city on the Japanese home island. Redeploy some air units to Fukuoka.

We finish the turn Very Solid (+63).

Turn 9: 1904AD
We start the turn Very Solid (+42) but falling.

Chop through jungles in Bangladesh to enable our tanks to reach Khmer lands.
Capture Kaosung (Taiwan) and Dabao (Phillipines). Capture Ostrov Bolshevik on the Arctic coast and liberate to India to boost our stability again. We finish the turn Very Solid (+51). Our vassals Spain and Germany are both Solid while American and Persia are Stable.

Turn 10: 1906AD
Turkish revolt in Manchester (again). We start the turn Solid (+32). Capture Norilsk and Novosibirsk in eastern Siberia. Upgrade our Airships to Fighters. Cancel our Aluminium deal to Spain for all of their health resources.

(Why did we have this again? Unless I am mistaken, health resources aren't cumulative when counteracting the plague - have I got this incorrrect?)

Time to invade Khmer lands. Capture Jayakarta first. We finish the turn Very Solid (+41).

I'm going to play one more turn to finish off the Khmer and the former Japanese cities.

Turn 11: 1908AD
Mongolia respawns, taking a bunch of Chinese cities but none of our Siberian ones. They are Unstable/Collapsing currently. Steal Artillery from Germany, tell them to research Corporation next.

Capture Rockhampton (Independent, former English city). Capture another independent Siberian city Anzhero Sudzhersk. Capture the last two former Japanese cities Toyohara and Raoagu.

Capture Pagan and Mandalay from Khmer (how convenient that Khmer has removed most/all of the jungle within their home area). Khmer Capitulates to us as our 5th vassal. I open borders with Khmer and liberate Mandalay, Pagan and Jayakarta, raising them from Unstable/Collapsing to Solid.

We finish the turn Very Solid (+52). Screenshots, final to do list and save to follow.
