AP-3 Lu Bu the Flying General

1. Jan. In December I advanced some troops further north. Switched cities that can build advocates in 1 turn (with the aim of switching back to strong next turn). This turn I switch back to Strong, Noble School and Legalism (we don't have any windmills or watermills yet, and we do need more great people. Later on maybe we should go back to Daoism and Ranking Classification). Liquor control in, we go to Improved Silk Loom. Ping Yuan captured by Zhang Liao.

2. Feb. Sun Ce asks us to declare on Liu Yao, I figure we have enough unhappiness as is, so no for now.

3. March. Improved Silk Loom in, go for Wooden Ox next. I take a gamble and start Tongque Platform in Pu Yang. We can now build Forbidden Palace, and either Luoyang or Xu Chang would be a good place, so I start it in Xu Chang. (I didn't do it in Xia Pi since it isn't really close to the center of our empire in the future, i.e. Xiang Yang, Shang Luo and Chang An are all closer to Xu Chang) Ju Lu is captured with no losses, and we capture Zhang He!

4. April. Unfortunately a Renowned Strategist is born in Pu Yang, so I send him scouting in the south while waiting for another GP to do a GA. (We need Ranking Classification). Otherwise we continue to march north. I switch our espionage to our next target, Li Jue.

5. May. Our Light Galley kills 2 Five-Floor Galleys. Nan Pi is captured with the loss of our 2 crossbows and 2 catapults, but we captured Gao Lan.

6. June. Sun Ce builds Tongque Platform, so we switch Pu Yang to Minor Military Bureau for more experience. Wooden Ox in, we go to Chain Pumps next (Summer Palace would certainly help our economy). We have quite a bit of unhappiness, so if Yuan Shao is willing to give me a tech, I'll probably make peace after Yi Jing is captured.

7. July. Le Ling captured, we also captured Ju Yi who's A in melee and archery!

8. August. Yi Jing is captured by (who else) Zhang Liao. Lu Bu is becoming jealous of him. :pYuan Shao only has Dai and Ji left, and he's willing to give us State Education and his map. I figure our unhappiness is becoming intolerable (places like Guan Du has no production at all because of this), and Zhang Yang is looking rather menacing west of us, and we need some vassals before we go hunting again, so State Education (which is precursor to Laws of Wei, enabling vassals, is a good tech. We can easily declare again on Yuan Shao in 10 turns.
Dian Wei now has Honor (50% plot defense) in addition to Guard.
Yikes, our spy was caught by Li Jue.

9. Sept. Uneventful, moving troops towards Zhang Yang (who now has Xianbei Horsemen (16 strength!).

10. Oct. I start the summer palace (world wonder) in Ye (can't build in our capital, and no point building in Qiao or Xu Chang, which are the only cities potentially building it in time to beat the AI).

11. Nov. Still uneventful

12. Dec. Same.

To do:
1. Note that the hills west of Ye has 6% our culture while Zhang Yang has 8%. I turned up the culture dial so that we can surpass Zhang Yang's culture (it's still nominally 80-something% Yuan Shao's, but whoever has more local culture wins). Turn it down after we get some production.

2. Gongsun Zan may not be such a bad guy to go after next. If we declare on him, Yuan Shao will OB with us (while he's busy fending off barbs from the north). Once we get Quan Zhou (with Thoroughbred horses!), we can always come back and exterminate Yuan Shao.

3. If Zhang Yang does not want to vassalize, he should be the next target. I would not declare war until Laws of Wei is learned (so we know who will vassalize, saving us some unnecessary detours). Gongsun Du just declared on Liu Yao, maybe he'll want to be our vassal (which would be perfect, since we don't want his land). We also want some his warrior camps to boost our production near Ye and Pu Yang.

4. We actually have enough espionage generation to steal a tech or 2 from our neighbors. I set all espionage to Sun Ce just to see what he's up to, but Gongsun Du has Secretariat which would be doable in with 1000 espionage after a spy is in his NE corner city for 5 turns).

5. More units are needed down south and west. Luoyang, Shou Chun and the rest of former Yuan Shu cities are looking rather precarious, and Cheng Pu is sitting in the river with some Danyang armies. Once Pu Yang finishes Minor Military Bureau, I would build at least 10 straight units to head for Luoyang. My great spy's journeys tell me that Xiangyang is sparsely defended, so maybe now's the time to eliminate Liu Biao as a threat.

6. Next GP should be from Luoyang, use him and our great spy (who's out west scouting) to get another GA for civic changes (Mohism/Normal for 5 turns, then switch from meritocracy to Ranking Classification and back to Strong). We do not have enough buildings in our cities to warrant the use of State Schools (1+ free specialist) which is high cost anyway, so I would stay in Noble School for now. (Some cities just have elders (i.e. citizens) working since they don't even have schools or courthouses).

Well, should we give Kenjister another 24 hours (usually the limit for getting the save)? (I emailed him)

Sorry guys, alot of stuff was coming up and I really don't think I'll have it sorted out that soon... you'll have to skip me for this turn. Sorry I didn't manage to tell you guys earlier.

Turn 0: Dec 202AD
Our economy is 186g -22gpt at 60% science. Some trading to improve things slightly is in order. Trade Fish to Yang Feng for 1gpt. Trade Cow to Lin Zhang for 1 gpt. Upgrade Cow to Sun Ce from 5gpt to 6gpt. Upgrade Wheat to Zhang Lu from 2gpt to 3gpt. Cancel Rice to Zhang Yang for 1gpt and trade Pig for 2gpt instead. Switch our espionage from Sun Ce to Gongsun Du. We have enough EP in hand (2K) to steal a tech from Yuan Shao also.

Turn 1: Jan 203AD
Spy production started in Bei Hai. Spread Unification in Yi Jing. Trade Wheat to Ma Teng for 1gpt. Our spy arrives in Ji, but needs to wait before we can steal from Yuan Shao. We have closed borders currently with Yuan Shao and can't reach Gongsun Zan's territory at the moment.
Spoiler :
attachment.php
Need to wait for either borders to expand from Yi Jing or open borders with Yuan Shao before we can think about attacking Quan Zhou for the Purebred Horse resource nearby. Keep building many watermills with our workers, replacing workshops or farms.

Turn 2: Feb 203AD
Ye Jing is pacified. Renowned Craftsman is born in Luo Yang. Start a Golden Age (also using our Great Strategist who was wandering in the west). Switch civics to Mohism/Normal/Ranking Classification. Start production on a bunch of advocates while we are in Normal. Sun Ce is pleased with us so I ask for his available 50g which is gifted to us.

Turn 3: Mar 203AD
Le Ling is pacified. Laws of Wei is learnt, start on Neotaoism next. Our new spy heads for Dong Lai. Drop our cultural slider back down to 0% because we can now work some more tiles around Ye. The next tiles to the west though have 26% foreign culture compared to our 6%.

Turn 4: Apr 203AD
Liu Biao offers to be our vassal - yes! We declare war on Li Jue as a result of this and Liu Biao is now friendly. I ask for and receive a gift of 140g from Liu Biao. Adjust our trade agreements with our vassal and demand all of his excess resources. Open Borders with Yuan Shao and declare war on Gongsun Zan now that we can reach his territory. Keep spreading beliefs amongst our cities.

Turn 5: May 203AD
Our population (345 or 43.9%) is now about the Domination threshold (326 or 41%). Our recent wars enable us to sign open borders with Han Sui. Zhang Liao's cavalry legion take apart Gongsun Zan's troops which were positioned outside of Quan Zhou's walls.

Turn 6: Jun 203AD
Neotaoism is learnt. Choose Military Agro-colonies as our free tech. Start researching Ship-hamlet next. Trade Chain Pumps to Liu Biao for Ranking Classification and 130g. Capture Zhao Yun outside of Quan Zhou.

Turn 7: Jul 203AD
Ship-hamlet is learnt, start General Medicine next. Steal Noble Music from Yuan Shao in Ji. Quan Zhou falls and Gongsun Zan capitulates.

Turn 8: Aug 203AD
Open Borders with all of the barbarian/backwards tribes: Yan Baihu, Sha Mo Ke and Zhang Yan. Our troops approach Liu Bei's city of Xin An.

Turn 9: Sep 203AD
Renowned Craftsman is born in Chen Liu, use him to build an Academy in Qiao (our best base-commerce city). This is the last turn of our Golden Age, so I switch back to Strong and also take State Education. We've built enough infrastructure during the GA to justify this and it only costs us ~12gpt in civic upkeep costs. Upgrade our Wheat deal with Liu Zhang from 5gpt to 6gpt.

Turn 10: Oct 203AD
Our GA ends. General Medicine is learnt, start Beacon Fire next. Quan Zhou is pacified. Steal Secretariat in Dong Lai from Gongsun Du. Switch our espionage to Liu Biao, who has Military Area Commander that we could steal or trade for. With all the espionage coming to us from the Force Shrine, why not just steal it?

Turn 11: Nov 203AD
Uneventful. Upgrade our Cow deal to Sun Ce from 6gpt to 7gpt. More bombarding of Xin An.

Turn 12: Dec 203AD
Summer Palace is built in Ye. Start on some cultural buildings to push out our borders to the west, firstly a Theatre. Xin An is captured.

I didn't go nearly as aggressive as I could have during the turn set. We have large armies in Yuan Shao's former core territory which could be used to subjugate the White Wave Clan fairly easily. We could also finish off Yuan Shao without any problems if we DOWed him again. We can or soon can (next turn) start production on most of the National Wonders. I didn't choose to start any of these during my turn set and focused on production buildings and then Military Mints. The spread of beliefs for our many shrines went well during our period in Normal.

Very nice. Remember Yuan Shao needs to be eliminated as part of our goal. Also, Lu Bu needs more combat experience! Don't rely on Zhang Liao or Guan Yu.

I think Gongsun Du would be an excellent candidate for vassalization if you spread unification to Dong Lai and induce him to change state religion by a spy. He's actually our neighbor so if he becomes unruly we can declare war on him (normally you can't declare war on him if he's not your neighbor).

What happened to Zhang Yang? Are we still going to get him to vassalize voluntarily (unlikely since is furious with us) or strike preemptively?

Liu Biao being a peacemonger is actually good for us, I'm glad we didn't declare war on him. Be aware that Sun Ce will eventually declare war on him (and thus us). We should eliminate Sha Mo Ke and Zhang Xian so that we, not Liu Biao, actually have borders with Sun Ce, assuming that Liu Yao will die soon from Sun Ce's assaults.

But of course the main thrust is Chang An, then Ma Teng/Han Sui if they won't vassalize, then down to Shu country though Hanzhong. We need the emperor back in Luoyang too.

Our generals need some better equipment to work with, so maybe upgrade our most experienced units and send the other veterans back home for garrison duty while building new units from Pu Yang (should give really expert units now with Minor military bureau)?

Can I also suggest a 5th criteria? The barb city of Wu Yuan up north (you can only get to it via galley or through desert) was Lu Bu's birth place, we should definitely capture it. It needs a lot of garrison troops though because it's the focus of barb attacks (includes danyang troops which really shouldn't come from the north) once you capture it. (I think 3 longbows and 3-4 pikes will do)

If Kenjister can't play after Xenoborg and me, I'll open up a slot for any lurkers out there.

TODO
Spread Unification to Dong Lai and send spy
Move through toward Chang An in the south.
In the north finish off Yuan Shao, then move toward Wu Yuan. Do we want to capture or vassalize Zang Yang and the Bandits?
New units in Pu Yang start with 16 exp, so I will start to make some to replace current units (who often have lower exp, and take 100-300 gold each to upgrade)
Not really sure on next techs, but I like War Preparation for faster roads. Not sure what else.
For national wonders:
Royal Reference(National Epic): Lou Yang
Fengyi Pavilion(National Theatre):
Taixue Pagoda(Oxford): Xu Chang for beaker shrine
Royal Mint(Wall Street): Wan for shrine income
Iron and Salt Bureau(Ironworks):

Also is this right for Cavalry? Other units are 50-100 hammers.

I would probably build Fengyi Pavilion (no unhappiness) in a potential big city like Ru Nan, Chen or Chen Liu. Qiao would also be a good choice.
Iron and salt bureau should be in either Qiao or Ye (probably the latter would be more productive, but once the north is pacified, we will need more production down south to help with troop production). From now on, except for major buildings, our capital should just build straight troops.
Purebred horses double the speed of producing cavalry, and unless you have a horse in that city, cavalry will be much more expensive. In the north, Ye is unmatched in that respect in the game (got pop growth potential, production and horses), with possible exception of Quan Zhou late game after ancient compass. In the south of course you have Mo Ling, but no Purebred horse for the southerners.

(Dong Ping also has a horse, but not Pu Yang, my bad)

Very nice. Remember Yuan Shao needs to be eliminated as part of our goal. Also, Lu Bu needs more combat experience! Don't rely on Zhang Liao or Guan Yu.

In my other start as Lu Bu (I'm playing solo) I gave him all the light cavalry at the start and he is easily the most experienced of my heroes. I think the mistake in this game was making Lu Bu an infantry hero. This misses his unique ability to cause cavalry troops in the legion to cause collateral damage. I've been kicking butt bigtime with this ability throughout my solo game.

Incidentally, Lu Bu did just get some experience in the battle of Xin An. But yes, he is currently lagging. I suggest he should be given some (new) cavalry units to use.

What happened to Zhang Yang? Are we still going to get him to vassalize voluntarily (unlikely since is furious with us) or strike preemptively?
He has been Furious with us throughout that recent turn set. He has very large horses. I didn't want to open a new war here while we were building so much infrastructure. I don't think he is going to vassalize voluntarily, ever.

Good idea, I think it is worth going for. I'd like to see us take the Pearl city on the island in the far SE corner too. We are not going to be headed in this game, so I think we can afford to try for these sort of goals.

I would probably build Fengyi Pavilion (no unhappiness) in a potential big city like Ru Nan, Chen or Chen Liu. Qiao would also be a good choice.
We can't build this National Wonder yet, and are a long way off just now (I think we only have 1/7 Theatres).

Well, Theatres are relatively cheap, so that might available pretty soon.
Zhang Yan's horses are killed nice and easy by some spearmen in the hills, he will get favorable odds, but if you are on a hill without roads, they'll be easily eliminated by your counterattack.

I don't think I'll be able to play my next turn either, so as AP suggested, perhaps a lurker would like to try out the mod and give it a shot when my turn comes around!

Rather than enumerating all of them, Ill just say that builds were mostly economic. Pu Yang built swords, Dong Ping built Cavalry (highest production city with horses).

Declare on Yuan Shao, and move our stack at Quan Zhou to him.
Move stack in Yuan Shao's old land to position to attack Zhang Yang.

Jan 204
Beacon Fire in, started on War Preparation

Feb 204
This happens at Xin An, I redirect the group going to Zhang Yang to go and finish Yang Feng.
Spoiler :
attachment.php

Start the Yellow Crane tower (Colossus) in Bei Hai.

March
Ji is captured with no losses.

April
Troops moving up, not much happens

May

War Preparation in Specialized Medicine Book started (A few cities could really use chain irrigation)

June
Bandits try and steal our food, I send the archers out after them.
Spoiler :
attachment.php

A spy destroys a farm near Wan

I notice now that Gongsun Du is in strong, so we need to convert him before we can spread Unification. I put him to sleep, and send a spy over.
Spoiler :
attachment.php

July
A great craftsman is born, I send him to Xu Chang to probably build an academy.

Great luck, we kill a suicide ballista and proc a golden age off defeating an enemy hero (Zhang Liao has a promotion that gives a 5%*hero level chance to start a GA when killing an enemy hero).
Spoiler :
attachment.php

I swap into normal and start building advocates.

We capture Dan and finish off Yuan Shoa, getting rid of a massive amount of WW in our cities.

August
Medicine Book in, start on House Arrest.

We steal Military Area Commanders from Liu Biao

September
The council wants to give Xin An back to Li Jue. I vote no. Even if it goes through we can take it back easily.

Our army finally reaches Yang Feng, and we declare on him.

October
House Arrest in, started on Buddhist Chants
The vote to steal our rightly stolen city fails.
Start on Center Jail (Mt Rushmore) in Lu Xian.

A renowned Talent (Great Artist) is born, I move him south in case we want to pop border there, but he will probably be used for a GA.

November
Not much, more spreading and more army marching

December
Buddhist Chants in, select, but nothing in it.
We complete the Yellow Crane Tower, fishermen rejoice.

Another Renowned Minister born, hes in Lou Yang, not sure what we want with him.

We still have 3 turns left on our free golden age, be sure to swap back to strong and the end to restart unit production. Puyang can nearly build cavalry in one turn despite not having horses.

Our army in the north is heading to Wu Yuan

The army in the center in outside of Ping Ying, and might be able to take it now.

The army in the south is moving on Hong Nong.

I ran out of good techs to pick, so I just chose something that looked useful. Cities like Lou Yang are making a ton of GPP (110 atm, but thats in GA), so I thought a building adding another 25% would help.

Its also the tech before Scholarhood, which lets us build the Jinachu Temple (Statue of Liberty).

I would probably use the Great Minister for building the Jianchu Temple (SOL), which is easily the most expensive wonder. Another GA probably won't do us as much good as a free specialist in all our numerous cities, especially now that we will build Buddhist Temples all over.

0. Dec. 204 (You know, Xenoborg, I notice you don't usually play your last turn for Dec, so I played it for you) Converted cities, sent our stack further into barb country up north but sent Xiahou Yuan back towards Ji (later on there will be a lot of barbs coming that way). In fact I started builds in Ye and other closeby cities of some defensive troops like archers and halberdiers. (Nothing beats a barb danyang better than an archer).

1. Jan. Hydraulic Ministering in, choose Seafaring (Sun Ce likes this). The barb Sha Mo Ke wants blades, I say no. Yan Baihu declares on Sun Ce. Eventually we'll declare on Yan just to appease Sun Ce. I notice some cities are about to expand, but still don't have granaries or cellars, so I try to build them before they pop.

2. Feb. Start Silk Road on the Sea in Qiao (4 turns). I notice we have plenty of cash but still have siege swordsmen, so I move some troops back to upgrade them. Choose Book of Burial Ceremonies (upgraded troops retain 25% of experience). Our spy reaches Gongsun Du, but we don't have enough espionage to convert him to normal before we convert back to strong, so I just give the Uni advocate to him (maybe this trick will work too in this mod).

I'll play more when I come back from work.

3. Mar. Yang Feng suicides some units on us and is now willing to capitulate, which we take, Xin An's culture expands to include the iron. Sun Ce, the predictable AI, asks us to declare on Yan Baihu, which doesn't cost us anything, so I agree. We also exchange some gifts (his Tea for my Liquid)...wait till it's his turn...:mwaha:
Book of Burial Ceremonies in, switch to Scholarhood, and start building Emperor Teaching Palace (2 free Craftsman and improves cottages around area). Our Royal Mint is done in Wan, and since I see some Li Jue Swordsmen coming our way (DID I MENTION I DOW'D ON LI JUE AGAIN??), I start a colosseum there.
So even though Gongsun Du is in strong, he spread Uni in Dong Lai, so I devote 1 turn of espionage to him.

4. April. Induced Gongsun Du to convert to Uni, but he's still annoyed at us and won't vassalize. (He's at war with Liu Yao and says he's got too much to do).

5. May. Scholarhood in, waiting for Qiao to finish Silk Road before starting Jianchu Temple. Go for Blade Ballista next (gives a free great strategist).

6. June. Our troops get closer to Hong Nong. I notice that Zhang Yang has quite a stack in his capital right next to Ye, so I start build some troops there (I had built a stable and colosseum there before).
Wan actually can produce 1 prof. cavalry in 1 turn! (It's got horse next to it) So I start some there, planning to do a 2-pronged attack. We also have some unused heroes sitting around, and Pu Yang can't do all the troop building.

7. July. Emperor Teaching Palace done in Xu Chang. Hong Nong is captured with no losses (just in time since a Mei castle (inner walls) was just about to be built). Li Jue is ready to capitulate, but we want the emperor! :king:
Something fishy is going on next to Dong Lai...it seems Gongsun Du might just attack us any time soon. Just in case, I gift blades to Gongsun Zan so he can protect himself better.
attachment.php

8. August. We capture Lu Bu's birthplace, Wu Yuan. (I can't imagine why we have so many generals exiled to the north when we should be attacking Zhang Yang next, but I'll send most of them back with horses.
attachment.php

9. Sept. Blade Ballista in, we get a free great strategist. Choose Advanced Riding next (need some better cavalry). I direct Liu Biao to research Mail next, while we stole Wei and Jin's Grace from him. (Useless tech for us since we don't want culture)

10. Oct. Li Jue has a stack from south of Hong Nong so I retreat some troops back into it. He's about to learn blades. I build some more 5-floor galleys from Luoyang and Chen Liu so we can get troops to Chang An quicker.

11. Nov. Lu Bu was defeated! (not killed though) We mop up the rest of the stack that dared to attack us and capture their ringleader, Ge Yue. We also capture Shang Yong. I unloaded some troops near An Yi. Li Jue just needs to die, now that he's angered Lu Bu!
attachment.php

12. Dec. I loaded some spies and a great artist onto a 5-floor galley. The artist should be saved for culture bombing when we capture Chang An so we have no revolts. An Yi has 200% walls, so send some spies there to knock them down.

To do:
1. Book of Self Care will be done next turn, build it in Xu Chang (gives +2 gold and + science from all Unification buildings, more likely to generate great craftsman) or Qiao (doesn't really matter at this time and Qiao is 1/3 more productive than Xu Chang).
2. Completely annihilate Li Jue and then secure our northern front by capitulating Zhang Yang and Zhang Yan. (If they are willing to declare on each other or bribed into doing so that would be good)
3. Most cities now have military academies, use them to build more troops. (We don't really need more econ or science buildings)
4. Theaters are actually useful, because we need them to build Pavilions which then allow the Fengyi Pavilion. Anger is kinda mounting due to the long war.
5. Keep an eye out on Gongsun Du. I reinforced our neighboring cities with some archers which he won't be able to surprise us with cavalry.

If we're short on a player, I propose that we each take 24 turns (2 years) starting with the next player (blizzrd).

Turn 0 Dec 205AD
Upgrade deal with Sun Ce from 7gpt to 9 gpt. Ask for 270g from Sun Ce and receive the gift. Upgrade deal with Liu Biao from 5gpt to 6gpt. Demand his spare Fish and Copper. Trade Seafaring to Liu Biao for 130g and map. Upgrade deal with Zhang Yang from 2gpt to 3gpt. Trade Fish to Wang Lang for 2gpt. Demand 60g from Wang Lang and get it (with 10 turns of peace treaty). Trade Fish to Liu Yao for 2gpt. Sell map to Zhang Yan for 15g.

Turn 1 Jan 206AD
Wu Yan is pacified. Book on Self care is learnt, start on Ancient Sanitation as a precursor to Recording Book. Start building the Tomb of Hua Tuo in Qiao. Upgrade Lu Bu's cavalry to Tigers. Upgrade deal with Gonsun Du from 4gpt to 5gpt. Trade Wheat to Zhao Yan for 1gpt.

Turn 2 Feb 206AD
Renowned Merchant :( is born in Luo Yang. Hang Nong is pacified. One of our spies in Chang An is caught. Another spy arrives in An Yi, which we have surrounded.

Turn 3 Mar 206AD
An Yi is captured for the loss of one Ballista. Our troops are unloaded next to Chang An and also arrive at the gates of Shang Luo. Start a Golden Age (forgot to last turn!) but drop our science slider down to 50% to bring in some major cash during the GA for lots of unit upgrades. Micromanage some specialists to ensure that a Great Minister is our next GP in Qiao.

Turn 4 Apr 206AD
He Lei suicides a Siege Ballista into Cao Cao, who defeats him and refreshes his strength. Ancient Sanitation is learnt, Recording Book next. Steal Mail from Liu Biao. Chang An's defences are reduced by our spy from within the walls and 5 defenders are eliminated.

Turn 5 May 206AD
Chang An is captured along with the Emperor. Load the Emperor onto a waiting Galley and head for Luo Yang. Culture bomb Chang An, but we are still going to starve once or twice as not all of the tiles immediately surrounding the city come under our cultural control (only about half do).

Turn 6 Jun 206AD
Shong Luo is captured for the loss of two of our Repeating Ballistas. Many unit upgrades and some healing.

Turn 7 Jul 206AD
Recording Book is learnt, start on Notebook of Astronomy next. Begin construction of the Yue Yang Tower in Xu Chang. More unit upgrades and healing.

Turn 8 Aug 206AD
Uneventful. More unit upgrades and healing.

Turn 9 Sep 206AD
Liu Je is eliminated as we take his last city of Ping Yi.
Spoiler :
attachment.php
Settle the Emperor in Luo Yang. Ask for another 70g from Sun Ce and again he gives it to us as a gift. Upgrade our deal with Liu Zhang from 1gpt to 2gpt. Upgrade our deal with Zhang Lu from 3gpt to 4gpt.

Turn 10 Oct 206AD
Notebook of Astronomy is learnt, start Folks of Wu Region next. Begin building the Imperial Court in Luo Yang. DOW Zhang Yang with three stacks moving on one each of his cities.

Turn 11 Nov 206AD
Renowned Minister is born in Qiao, save him for the Yu Gong Map (the most expensive wonder remaining, about 1.5 times more expensive than the Palace of Honor which we should just build normally for ourselves). Spread Unification in An Yi. Another Unification advocate is heading for Wu Yuan but is still a couple of turns away. We surround Yan Men and Shan Dang. I notice that we have been asked to complete the Horse Whisperer Quest at some point earlier. We only have a few Stables currently, but I line up 9 new ones in cities that can build them in 1 turn.

Turn 12 Dec 206AD
Big turn. On the defensive we kill a Zhang Yang cavalry at Quan Zhou who was previously wandering in the northern desert. We finish the Horse Whispering Quest, I take +1 food and +4 hammers for each of our Stables as the prize.
Spoiler :
attachment.php
Finish the Yue Yang Tower in Xu Chang.

Demand Liu Biao return our hostage to us (not sure which Hero this is, but I will be interested to know what this means?) with our diplomatic vote choice.
Spoiler :
attachment.php
Le Ping is captured for no losses (properly promoted Tiger Cavalry are GOOD). Yan Men is captured, but along the way we lose Cao Ren in a 97% odds battle and he betrays us! Which means that I can't accept capitulation and capture Yan Men also to finish off Zhang Yang and recapture Cao Ren.

I have our espionage currently set against Sun Ce and one of our spies has just arrived in his city of Lu Jiang. We can steal On Enmity from him (it would only take us one turn to research it but the espionage is free!).

We have two stacks of troops in the west who could each probably take out any one of the minor tribes on their own. If Zhang Yan's Heishan bandits don't want to voluntarily vassalize to us (which they probably won't) then they should certainly be the next target for our other three large stacks (which each just captured one of the former Zhang Yang cities).
