Thanks in no small part to Buboes slaughtering things here and there, my AC hit 100, and half the world died. Chalid Astrakein and his ragtag band of mages, hill giants, berserkers, airships, and centaur archers, have completed their quest to hunt down and slay the four horsemen, one by one (buboes ran like a little baby. I chased him for about 15 turns), and the Avatar of Wrath, who had the misfortune to spawn on my doorstep, was defeated handily in single combat with my giant gold dragon.

So, end of the world averted. What function does the Armageddon counter serve now ? It's fallen a little down to 97, but I imagine it will be rising again. Are there any farther consequences ? Will anything happen if I go rampaging around the world murdering things with the War sword ?

If you keep the AC at 100 for a long time, it will switch to 101, which summons Kael, the god of FfH, who takes over your pc and threatens to make it explode, if you won't play Somnium with him and listen to his FfH tales 24/7, which will eventually drive you crazy.

Now you know what the new enraged promotion does!?
You better warn your neighbors next door :D

In my experiences with the AC hitting 100, and having slayed the horsemen (and hyborem) as you did, nothing happens when it shoots back up to 100 as the horsemen and avatar of wrath have already died.

Oh no, not hyborem.

The infernals never entered my game. In fact, at turn 600, Ashen Veil has only just been founded, by me. Since nobody else seemed to be doing it.

Turn 550, the only religion in existense = CoE (I founded). Religious victory was easy as pie (I wanted to end that dumb game).

That doesn't sound so bad, how many turns does the AC have to stay at 100 for endless somnium and ffh tales to happen?

However you must end every turn within 6 minutes so no cheating allowed.

If 100 Ac is maintained for 50 turns, everything explodes (Akin to a giant ring of flames that hurts the whole world). This continues happening every 50 turns, then decreases to every 25 turns after 3 times, then 12 turns, then 6, 3, etc...

It does seem there should be something more...

Such as apocalypse mk2 or something?

Considering it's not likely to go to 100 unless you set out to do so (by lots of razing or something), I don't believe there is much point in adding more. Maybe for every time it hits 100 (with a turn gap inbetween, maybe 30 or so minimum), it repeats the last event?

But hmm, are Sheaim out to cause Armageddon to destroy the world or just everyone else? If it's the first it's clearly not possible in the epic game.

Yea I always felt that the 100 AC was a bit anti-climatic. It needs one last and lasting last hurrah. I suggested when it first came out that when the AC hit 100 the entire world irreversibly become Hell terrain (including good civs). At the moment good civs don't get hell terrain at any level of the AC, I think that should be looked at again. If they let the AC get to 100 then I feel that all bets are off. Good lost Erabus to Agares, now they must fight to survive and hope that their gods can save them... (or better yet conquer hell itself, IIRC Basium already assumes the world will go to hell and he wants to be summoned so that he can fight hell directly)

Maybe... but it just seems that preventing or causing the apocalypse can be the epic finale and yet it isn't in game mechanics.

That's a good idea. At 100 AC, Hell terrain should spread to good civs as well. Maybe its spread rate could be increased too.

Well, this is likely impossible, but I share my musings anyhow. I think it would be neat if at 100 AC, all good civs merge with the Mercurians, while all evil civs merge with the Infernals, so that there are the two diametrically opposed super powers fighting the last war of the world. This would spawn either civ if they hadn't been summoned yet in that game. Neutrals would either be left alone or slit between the two or something. Then it would just be a fight to the finish i.e. apocalypse.

I like this. Neutral civs should be given an event where they have to pick a side.

agreed, that would be great.

And the sides would be fielding the leaders as heroes in the war as well, so you could take your leaders and charge the otherones, hehe. Alexis vs that snotty little huriotes boy, hehe...
