[NFP] Apocalypse Mode

Wow so your response to my opinion is “why are you even here”.... real nice.

It’s a game, have fun with it.

Yes, my response to you feeling the need to say you don't care about what I have to say, is to ask you about your reasons.

I was commenting about a problem in the game, in a discussion about the game. Excuse me if telling me to ignore the problems you dont think are important is not a valid response to me.

I had three aid emergencies trigger on the same turn:

With a WC session in between, it was a DV 30 turns later.
However, it feels like cheating, like you're supposed to run a marathon, but take a shortcut half a distance.

Is such a cluster of aid emergencies supposed to happen at all? Devs seem to have said that they tried to space out emergencies.
Or maybe it would be worth to halve the DV points from aid emergencies, from 2 to 1 on Apocalypse mode? Now for the second time out of two my Apocalypse game ends midgame, or so it feels.

yes I've always felt that this is the main problem with Apocalypse, or mainly with the fact that disasters are set to max with Apocalypse.

The Send Aid project will send equal aid to ALL concurrent emergencies at the same time, for the same cost. That's a major problem because there always comes a time when you'll get 3 or more at the same time. I've taken to disactivating Diplo Victory on games where I set disasters to 3 or more. It's just too easy ;-(

I was thinking about the possibility of being destroyed by an apocalypse event when you've already won the game (and kept playing with 'just one more turn'), and I then realised I wasn't even sure how that works if you get defeated after winning usually (e.g. you win a culture victory and then get conquered). Can either of these things happen? And what happens if they do? Can you get a defeat screen even when you've already won the game?

I'm really not too keen on the diplomatic victory in general because it seems to be the easiest victory, and that's only worsened by apocalypse mode. I think they really need to work on that to make it less easy.

It's only this easy now because everyone complained in previous patches that it was too hard or almost impossible. Getting the balance exactly right probably isn't going to happen.

They could probably tweak something. And I'd rather it be too hard than very easy. It's the least interesting victory option I would say, but since it's the easiest to achieve early it reduces the incentive to go for the other ones.

I feel like surely the overwhelming majority of people must find diplomatic victory too easy now though?

Going back to the original question I asked about what happens if you get destroyed after you've already won the game, I take it no one here has experienced that then?

I've been wondering the same thing myself! The first time I played Apocalypse mode and got to the end game I went with the "One More Turn" route just to see what would happen, but the problem was that the map I was on was huge and it would have taken forever to get completely wiped out, so eventually I lost interest. Might be easier to check on a smaller map...
