Apocalypto

I don't know if anyone has considered this, but that Spice tile is actually pretty important. It's our best production tile for a very long time, other than cows. I'm thinking more SIP at this point. 1E may be worth it, but any move that loses a turn has to be worth it and I'm not seeing it.

Umm, yes?

didn't you meant 1SE? the 1E tile is grassland riverside, so should be settlable T0.

I really don't know where to settle best... realistically for workers/settlers 1H=1F, infra can be slaved and the capital will probably run cottages/specs anyway...

we should probably think more about maxing food then anything.

I'd prefer max food over hammers, hammers can be gotten from food through slavery, the reverse isn't true. If we really want, we can always move our cap elsewhere later in the game.

1SE is an option as well, AFAICT it trades a FP for a GH, but gets a bunch of riverside grass as well. Wouldn't mind either way.

I vote 2E

I vote SIP

there's no tangible benefit of losing a turn with this start

I can't vote - I've glanced at the map and can't comment on settling until we have Animal Husbandry and Bronze Working.

The round is played

As voted by team members we will settle 2 E.

Nice one vranasm. :goodjob:

Shouldn't be too hard to spawnbust the south and the north west by the looks.

I guess we irrigate the Floodplains to the immediate east, then down to the Wheat and then Floodplains across the river(?). Team thinking on Cottages?

Ooooh ... Marble ... well I guess we tech' to Math's, put a Fort on it, and Oracle slingshot Civil Service? :mischief: ...

We could also just settle our next city on the Marble...not bad really and can help work cottages some.

I'm torn between BW now or TW>Pot. BW would help with the whip, but I think we can slow build our first settler. TW> Pot would help with worker turns though as that will shortly be limited, except for putting up a bunch of farms. I expect we will cottage just about every tile in the cap at some point, but some farms early will help with production.

My plan would be to grow to size 4 before starting a settler and build warriors in between. I would settle on the marble as mentioned, if I get that far.

Oracle may be a long shot, but we could certainly try for it.

I"m sure it is cool with Cam - he still has the slots listed as open and we only just started. Good to have you back, NOrv.

Hey Norvin!

Never too late.

Only semi-serious about The Oracle - settling on it could work however ... with two religions going quickly, would we also need to drop Worker tech's for Priesthood? :dunno:

If we don't pursue the Priesthood beeline, I'd probably find out where we stand with Horses, and go for The Wheel if we have them, or Bronze Working if we don't.

Oh crap...I meant after AH...we definitely want AH

hmm as I see it we need couple of fogbusters. We need to look around ivory a bit.

Not hot on oracle, but we could decide once we see Stonehenge date. And we don't have production for the Oracle anyway!

To me much better spot is 1 NW of marble since it gets rice and gold 1st ring.

As for tile improvements, i guess going wheat (is quicker up then fp farm), fp then cows

I wouldn't go for the Oracle, without chopping/mines, we don't have enough production to pull it off, even with marble. I like vranasm's spot for the marble city, as it gets the gold online quicker and has an easier time growing.

Getting a bunch of warriors for fogbusting is good, it looks like we got a peninsula (or island?) to ourselves.
