Are You Ready For No Hank Williams Jr. Starting Monday Night Football Games?

Last time I checked, the 1st Amendment did not give a has been the right to have his song played as an intro to a game on ESPN.

The First Amendment protects against an employer from firing a bigot for his remarks made in front of an audience of perhaps a million people, and later seen by hundreds of millions? I had no idea that Hank Jr. was such an advocate of non-original interpretation. And I'm sure he and all his "rowdy friends" will now stop watching NFL football on ESPN as a result.

He's being punished for making a political statement, if thats how this country operated at every level (but govt) the 1st Amendment would no longer serve its purpose as a guiding principle.

This isn't a 1st Amendment issue. This is an "embarrass your employer" issue.

He lost a gig for being a drunken fool. I'm sure he will be able to find a way to once again pull himself up by his Daddy's bootstraps.

And he's still being punished for making a political statement, the 1st Amendment wouldn't be worth squat if everyone got fired for saying stupid stuff... If ESPN fired him, they didn't gain my respect.

He's not being punished. He said he quit.

But he's not being punished by the government. The Constitution doesn't say a word about making an ass of yourself and pissing off the general public or your employer.

When you're in the entertainment business, your public image is related to your job.
