Are you sticking with civ4?

You'll need a device driver for that.
Why? Firaxis didn't use any. None that work, anyway. :D

Btw, I have a friend in r/l that still can't use Crossfire in DX11 when running Civ5. Sad, when you find out that AMD/ATI is bragging that they helped develop the graphics rendering routines for Civ5. Pathetic, actually. It took a patch to make my $700 card work properly with the game. Hard to get into the game when you can't see it.

There's nothing to be seen in there, Lemon Merchant. You're not missing anything. i bought myself a new computer for this, and whatdo I get? The map looks like it's made of plastic; it is totally dead and there's nothing happening on it. I was expecting people working in the streets of the cities, animals in the forests, trucks travelling the roads, I was even so bold as to expect the trees in the woods waving in the wind. And what do I get - something just as living and breathing as that board game they're making.

I didn't need a new machine for this. Luckily I can play Oblivion instead with all the graphics settings maxed. Yay!

have civ V ... back to playing IV - well here is to another 5 years of IV  (unless a miracle happens and they somehow fix V, but the chances are slim there... )

CIV has trees moving in the wind. Not to mention the coast having waves crashing. Heck CiV I has waves crashing on the coast.

Yes I shall be sticking with IV. The many bugs, 1UPT, the lacking of any substance to the diplomacy, and the nutty AI's have made me not buy V. And unless all of the above (especially the lack of substantial diplomacy and 1UPT) is either patched or an expansion fixes the above (@ the very least make 1UPT optional) then I will never buy V and instead play IV until they make a Civ VI that is good or until the end of time.

Ewww.. red text! As an Evertonian, I am offended. It might also annoy people who change the CFC colour scheme.

Yeah! Another Oblivioner! Lets hope TES V isn't as dissappointing as Civ V eh!

Happy Hallowe'en everyone! x

Blimey! Am I missing something? On my screen the trees are absolutely still, and I even have the zoom-level at max in the .ini, but I've never seen a single tree move. The waves are there though. I will play around with the graphics settings. That might help.

Oh yes. I've been waiting for Elder Scrolls V for years. Seems like they're putting their efforts into Fallout instead, sadly. I've played the Elder Scrolls since old Daggerfall, actually.

Well Oblivion was the game that (temporarily) stopped my Civ-ing (if 4 years counts as temporary). I contemplated getting Fallout before getting BTS this summer.

It actually does really concern me how games are heading, seemingly away from these indepth, complicated masterpieces like BTS and TES3-Morrowind, and going for the console market where pretty graphics are all that matter.
I worry, I really do

You may have to look at all the graphics options but you zoom all the way in on a forest you can even hear wind rustling the trees. The jungles don't sway but the forests do.

I have no clue as to why red text would offend someone from your area of England. Though the reason for my font + red text is to show allegiance to my favorite sports team. I do this on any forum I'm on.

God! I thought you had red text to show solidarity with the oppressed proletariate and to hold the fluttering Red Banner of the coming Communist Worker's Paradise high as a beacon for the masses suffering under Capitalist slavery. I thought you were a good Socialist.

Sounds like I should graduate to Oblivion. Morrowind is the only RPG I've ever tried, and I play it whenever I get tired of having my a** handed to me by Civ 4.

I have CiV, tried several games, and found it to be singularly unrewarding. I'll stay with Civ 4 for now, thank you very much.

Red text doesn't bother me at all - I'm color blind:)

While Oblivion is a bleedin' good game, Morrowind was the best one yet in the series. Morrowind started me on computer game modding. I made and released my first mod ever for old Morrowind back in 2005. It was called the Alcoholics Guild and placed three drunks living in a cabin out in the woods. Nothing more, nothing less.

Please tell me they gave out quests to go buy more booze...

While this is going ever more off-topic...

Both have the usual TES vices: being big for the sake of being big with repetitive landscape and static copy-paste characters, a clunky skill system and easily-breakable mechanics.
Every new game moved a little closer to the industry average, trading scale and lore for polish and plot; which one to go for depends on how much you're willing to give up to get what makes the series memorable in the first place.

I am back to civ4 bts since civ5 is so unbelievable boring. My last civ4 game was so awesome... a 2000 years war with shaka, finally able to conquer my continent. Nuked one city of Pacal to deny culture victory. Then nuked one city of Suyavaraman to deny HIS culture victory. Then Bismarck exploded: He got Sid Sushi and Mining Inc and i lost space elevator, gorges damn and internet to him. Finally my minimum space ship with one part each was two turns ahead of his fully equipped spacecraft. Eventually lost because my space ship mission failed (20% chance :)). Man THIS was one of the greatest games i have played so far and this is the gaming experience i desire. I am looking forward to test some mods (rise of mankind or base)...

greetings Knightly_

Yes, I am staying with Civ 4. I find it much more enjoyable to lose in Civ 4 at Emperor level (which, he boasted, I very seldom do) than to win in Civ 5 at Deity in about 10% of the time.

The word 'irony' springs to mind!

Morrowind love +1
