Arioch's Analyst Thread

Some other details from memory... (not sure how useful this is though, as it's from the one preview build and this kind of thing changes... but some like barracks probably stay):

Barracks gave +15 xp to land units, just like armory
Watermill gave +2 food, has 2 gpt maintenance
Forge gave +25% land unit production
Workshop gave +20 building production
Hospital gave civ iv granary ability
Medical lab requires hospital, adds another 25% food storage on top of that

Iroqouis UB (longhouse) gave +1 hammer/forest
Paper maker gave +1 science/2 pop and +4 gold

Chivalry allows defensive pacts

Lower left social policy of rationalism gives 2 free techs, sort of like piety's 2 free policies.
Adopting rationalism itself gives a 5-turn golden age.

Stonehenge in this build just gave +8 culture.

Just played some at Pax. Switching to an incompatible tree costs one turn of anarchy. Once you switch back all the policies you had there become active again.

When you lose your cap a new city becomes your cap temporarily until you reclaim the old one.

That's very cool info!

Finally someone managed to find that out, thx! Funny you had this in your build, which according to your report seemed rather outdated. After Shafer said that switching SPs would be allowed in Polycast, I believed they only added it in a recent build.

The capital stuff was somewhat known, I guess what is still unclear is whether ALL other victory conditions (apart from conquest) could be achieved with the replacement capital (spaceship?).

Thinking about the anarchy mechanic, I wonder how viable it will be to invest in two opposing trees? It's a lot of culture "wasted", I'm curious if anybody will find strategies where this is useful.

Thank you ! It seems the one I was previously using disappeared. Now, I will tell you about the mighty Kremlin.

This WONDER increase the effect of defensive buildings by 50%

Moderator Action: *snip* that's not allowed.

The implication of the presenter (demo guy who took questions) and the civilopedia was "yes". However I certainly didn't manage to test that case in a game, and the presenter didn't seem super confident about the corner cases.

It's a four page issue of the French gaming magazine Canard PC.

For those who don't want to mess with capchas and .7z files, here's a Moderator Action: *snip* not allowed. . Most of the images in the article are known.

It has a picture of the manufactory. Which translates to +3 production. Unfortunately not proven by the screenshot. The text also says that the Pyramid gives a free granary, so no idea on the accuracy.

Spoiler :
Moderator Action: *snip* not allowed.

Thebes has the Pyramid, Stonehenge, the Hagia Sofia, a Palace (new) and Ankor Wat (new).

Not the one with the Kremlin hover text. I suppose the Pyramid was originally intended to work like in civII but it has been long gone now.

THE KREMLIN

:hammer: Cost : 800
:culture: : 4

-----------------------------

Defensive buildings in all cities are 50% more effective.

+4 :culture: , +1 great scientist point

Ah, indeed. Had to check every pixel of the article twice to find it in the screenshot.
Moderator Action: *snip* not allowed.

they also said that we can liberate foreign civilian units in order to gain an AI friend.
Specifically it says that barbarians don't kill civilian units anymore, but that they're brought back to the camp (it doesn't say whether this happens automagically or whether they walk there). When you disperse the barbarian camp, you get the diplomatic "Best Friend Forever" status if you liberate a foreign civilian.

They also say that clearing a forest yields 20 hammers.

So Barracks + Armory give you 30 XP?!

Approximately how many XPs do you need to get a promotion?

Those two things will make a lot of people here very happy I think, probably even deserve their own thread, especially the SP thing as there has been a lot of speculation about it.

How can you switch back? Can you do it anytime or do you have to wait until your culture is high enough to be able to choose a new SP and then instead of choosing a new one you switch back to your old SP tree?

Agreed. I'm sending you a PM with the source as it's also against forum rules to discuss moderator actions on the forum ;)

Just post the (valid) source and go on.
Did not see any indication, that it is free by the mag itself.
