Art of the Possible: Backgrounds

Yes, the Philippines are owned by Spain.

Take 2 of the map:

Notes:
-Little bit more of the Parana basin (can't find what its actually called lol) added to Paraguay as discussed prior
-Virginia greatly improved. All credit goes to TheLizardKing who's Virginia border from another map I literally copypasted
-Territory in Germany shuffled around a bit. Prussia loses a bit of Silesia in keeping with EQ's map. (Soz Prussia) Bavaria looks significantly less like garbage.
-France is back to gold. Spain is now bird poo green, though I'm not happy with that colour and any changes people can make would be good. I can't find a decent colour next to Golden france
-Sonora border marginally better, though I still don't like it much. I can't find a map to crib of it either, all of TLK's maps from The Six Month War part 1 are gone. :p

The only way I will accept a Big Blue Blob is if the USA colors are changed to something that isn't dark blue. Otherwise, I have become emotionally invested in Golden France.

As pointed out above the Andamans and Nicobar islands are indeed Danish.

Judging by the borders of the Russian Far East, the Treaty of Aigun (1858) and the Convention of Peiking (1860) did take place in this timeline. Should I assume that other terms of these treaties (such as the statement that the Amur and Ussuri rivers can be navigated only by Russian and Chinese vessels) exist as well?

Yes, I think you can assume that those exist as well, in some form or another, though possibly signed in different years and places.

Goa should be Portuguese. (EQ's map had this but the current one doesn't.) Sikkim should also be independent if we're strictly speaking following OTL India (with the exception of Pondicherry; Britain occupied all of French India in 1793 and only returned it after Napoleon was removed in 1814; it's safe to say, i think, that this didn't happen here)

Yes, Goa needs to be Portuguese on the map. As for Sikkim, I'm just going to say it should be British because reasons.

Because who wants to model the complex cultural politics of a subcontinent with hundreds of millions, right?

On that note, what is the status of Andorra?

it was annexed into France along with Catalonia, because that enclave in the middle of France just didn't look cool.

Sikkim in 1900 would qualify as a British protectorate, and as you may notice, protectorates in Asia and Africa are technically under the colors of their relative imperial masters.

As for Andorra, it was historically annexed by France under Napoleon, so there's no reason for it to be independent here, even if I was inclined to include mini-states. After doing some quick research, if there is any tiny nation that should exist in this timeline it is San Marino. It was supported by Napoleon, and the coalitions, and was kept out of the hands of the Pope and Italy. Liechenstien and Luxembourg were not so lucky with the former going to the Confederation of the Rhine and the latter to France.

Of course, we can only speculate as to mighty Sealand, which won't exist for another fifty years.

More American backgrounds + Bohemia have been added to the front page. Tomorrow I should have the first sample stats ready for your perusal.

Goa is actually on the map, its just one pixel in size. Might be in the slightly wrong place though. Will fix Andamans tonight, might do something with the colours of Siam.

The French player likes the golden France! :D

Venezuela owns Venezuela, Prussia owns Cameroon.

Also Reus's map is good. Maybe Oman's colour is a bit close to Denmark's and the Dervish State is a bit close to Westphalia's but other than that its good.

All for golden France! :p
