Artifacts

I have looked at platyping's implementation of Artifacts. I could implement it in C2C, the only problem would be the script data which I would need to talk to AAndy about.

However it could be simplified if our proposed Equipment promotions also had the concept of a world unique equipment promotion. @TB does it? How is it implemented? Or can I just have a bWorldUnique and bNationUnique promotion tag? You would have a better idea of how to have these as unique and how that would fit with similar ideas for other promotion types.
 
Interesting idea... iGlobalLimit, iTeamLimit (which may not be truly necessary) and iNationalLimit is how units are setup. Could it be done? Sure. Wouldn't be too tough either.

And yes, they could be equipments that fit in with the rest of the equipment lines. Interestingly setting it up as equipments could also have the side benefit of being able to re-equip a unit that has one so that it selects something else of a comparable value and type, releasing the item for use by another unit. Certain wonders could unlock access to these and then it would be auto-assigned to the first unit that could get it OR if we wanted a more careful process we could have it NOT auto-assign as usual equipments would - and thus only available on a re-equip action.

hmm... you maka me think... this could really be a cool way to implement artifacts ;) (Would work even better if and when I eventually setup an ability to steal equipments off of vanquished opponents!)
 
In platyping's version once you have an artifact you can't transfer it but you can loose it to someone who kills the unit with it. I think I prefer the not transferable bit otherwise you may end up with one unit with all the artifacts.
 
The transferability would be an ability we derive from the mechanism implementation. What he does to enable those that kill a unit to take the promo is quite interesting and could apply to a lot more than just artifacts.

What we could do to keep one unit from hoarding artifacts, or at least keep it in a sort of balance... we could give a promotionline of skill promos that give your unit artifact slots and he's limited to carrying only as many artifacts as slots he has. Units could be given a base value of one on this number. Or we could simply limit to one but that doesn't seem quite right either... The extra artifact slot promos could be given to heroes and those units led by an attached commander.
 
Not hard to add an action button to transfer though, after my adventure with enhanced gp.
But I agree it will be op, especially as only humans will do so.

I was thinking more of adding movies to them since they are world promotions.
However, besides Excalibur, decent pictures for the others are too hard to find
