Ten questions. Here goes : -

1) This country only becomes independent in 1984.
2) This country, apart fr Japan, was never 'colonized' or controlled by the West. 3) This country has a ruling line purportedly going back to 660 BC.
4) This country is composed of 13 states and 2 Federal territories.
5) This country produced the first armor-plated ship in the world.
6) This country reportedly has the best airport and airline in the world.
7) This country is the largest Christian nation in Asia.
8) This country was known as Dilmun in very ancient times.
9) This country burned its entire naval fleet, its maps and records and turned its back on the world once.
10) This country had been a Soviet satellite since 1922.

Shld be pretty easy. Good luck, folks. :D

1. have to think about that

2. Thailand

3. Japan (?)

4. Malaysia

5. Hmmm, I'll come back to it

6. Singapore (I think that statement is debatable)

7. Phillipines

8. Don't know

9. China

10. Mongolia

Q1 is very tricky

I have checked maldives, bangladesh, Bhutan and various other unlikely options like cambodia in case this is a trick question.

One clever guess is Khalistan - the Sikh Nation which declared independence in the mid 80s but I don't think exists.

Another clever answer is Sri Lanka (assumming its a typo and its 1948 not 1984)

Here goes:

1) This country only becomes independent in 1984.

Papau-New Guinea? (From Australia?)

2) This country, apart fr Japan, was never 'colonized' or controlled by the West.

Thailand

3) This country has a ruling line purportedly going back to 660 BC.

Nepal?

4) This country is composed of 13 states and 2 Federal territories.

Russia? (If ya don't count the autonomous oblasts...)

5) This country produced the first armor-plated ship in the world.

Japan

6) This country reportedly has the best airport and airline in the world.

Malaysia

7) This country is the largest Christian nation in Asia.

Australia

8) This country was known as Dilmun in very ancient times.

Bahrain I think, or Qatar

9) This country burned its entire naval fleet, its maps and records and turned its back on the world once.

China

10) This country had been a Soviet satellite since 1922.

Mongolia

Good quiz Knight-Dragon - except for a couple questions, I just went on a guessing spree...

Nope, <shakes head> I am surprised you don't know it, considering that you're Singaporean. :) And nope, it's not a typo. It's 1984 if I remember my long-ago school textbook correctly or whereabouts.

1) This country only becomes independent in 1984.

Papau-New Guinea? (From Australia?)
Nope. At least not what I am thinking about.

2) This country, apart fr Japan, was never 'colonized' or controlled by the West.

Thailand
Correct!

3) This country has a ruling line purportedly going back to 660 BC.

Nepal?
Nope, it's Japan. Andycapp had already gotten it. The Japanese imperial line was purportedly from the lineage of Tenno Jimu (spelling?) who was said to begin his reign in 660 BC. But this is only a legend.

4) This country is composed of 13 states and 2 Federal territories.

Russia? (If ya don't count the autonomous oblasts...)
Neh, we Asians never consider Russia to be an Asian country; no matter what comrade Stalin thinks. Correct answer is Msia as had been answered by andycapp.

5) This country produced the first armor-plated ship in the world.

Japan
Nope.

6) This country reportedly has the best airport and airline in the world.

Malaysia
You must be joking. I'm fr Msia and even I think our airport and airline are a joke.

7) This country is the largest Christian nation in Asia.

Australia
We Asians also never consider Australia to be part of the neighbourhood. It's the Philippines and they got more ppl than Australia. ;) As had been answered by andycapp.

8) This country was known as Dilmun in very ancient times.

Bahrain I think, or Qatar
Bahrain, as answered by Julien.

9) This country burned its entire naval fleet, its maps and records and turned its back on the world once.

China
Correct! Too easy, this one.

10) This country had been a Soviet satellite since 1922.

Mongolia
Correct! Another easy one.

I must set a harder one ...... :crazyeyes Questions remaining - 1 & 5.

The first armored ship?
5) Turkey? Not under that name, maybe the Ottomans?

Nope. And I think Turkey is considered European. Or at least not Asian.

I seem to miss your quizzes when you first post them :(

1. Brunei
Correct! :goodjob: I was about to give the same hint as Vrylakas gave for the Romanian connection in his East European quiz, namely oil. But I think that'll throw off the tracks to the Mid-East.

I have only posted this quiz recently and a lot of ppl probably miss it cos it's so easy so mostly had been answered in a short time.

Question 5 remaining .....

Fancy that, and I've been on Lancer twice (and Starlight once).

Oh and before I forget; the answer for 5) is Korea! Yep, the Koreans built the world's first iron-plated ships and used them to harass the Japanese invaders during the late Middle Ages.

I think so anyway. :)

I think 5 is Korea, too. Those Turtle Boats. I remember from playing Age of Conquerors. :)

6)It should be Hong Kong,Hong Kong'airports are way cooler than Singapore's and is the best in the world!Cathay Pacific is the best airliner in the world with their nice foods and nice plus pretty air hostess:goodjob:Cathay Pacific has no record of crashing before:goodjob:

If you'll note my original question, I did say reputedly. And I'll have to disagree with you about Cathay Pacific being the best airline in the world. At least, cost-wise. Haven't you heard about the problems the airline is having with their pilots regarding compensation?

Apparently Cathay pilots are too well-paid compared with their regional competitors (incl SIA). So the mgmt was trying to cut back their pay. The pilots responded by 'go-slow' activities and mass taking of medical leave, resulting in many grounded or delayed Cathay flights. Some passengers were rerouted using SIA planes even. ;)

Cost-wise and reputation-wise, Cathay can't compare with SIA. Due to 911 which severely hit airliners' bottomlines, the mgmt of SIA began by cutting their own pay by up to 20% IIRC. You don't see that happening anywhere else. That's how aggresive SIA is with cost control esp during bad times.

I don't even think I want to go into comparing HK's new airport with Spore's Changi airport ....

This should be called the south east Asia quiz. You only putted one country not from that area.
Also, I believe Nepal was never taken over.

Russia and Turkey might not be considered Asian by you, but I'm just as asian as you are and i do consider them a part of this continent. People always forget the Asia is much larger then Japan, China and the countries around them.
