It is still called the Theory of Evolution, not the fact of evolution.
Evolution, Big Bang... neither of them are incompatible with intelligent design.
I really don't understand why some people, on both sides, get so fired up if you believe in all three... but they do.
Personally, I believe it.
There is however, one problem with those who think the Big Bang/Evolution are incompatible with a creator, and this is the last I will say...
THE MISSING LINK.
The missing link between what made inanimate objects, like gas and rocks, suddenly become living objects, like amoebas, etc?
To me, this proves a creator.
Well, for my side of it (And I can explain why I believe in a Young Earth in a PM) I don't think its a terribly huge deal if someone wants to believe God used Evolution to create the world. I do think its a minor issue, since I think there are logical inconsistencies with it (Death before sin, man coming from apes being inconsistent with "According to his kind" exc) but I don't make nearly as big of a deal as some people do. I certainly believe it is possible to accept both.
What I WAS aggravated about was people trying to use the thread to PROVE evolution, which is blatantly off topic. My beef wasn't that people believed in it, but that an atheist was basically making this his thread to prove evolution (And in his mind perhaps to disprove a Creator.)
But my point is what your first comment was, its a Theory, not a Fact. Personally, I don't care if someone believes in it. If someone is a genuine Christian, believing in Evolution isn't going to make any difference, and if somehow an atheist rejects evolution, that will not save them. In fact, I make far less of an issue of it than some people I know.
What DOES bother me is when people claim its an absolute fact and anyone who rejects it to believe something else is stupid, especially in a thread that's supposed to be about Protestants (Many of whom, though obviously not all, do not believe in Evolution.) Its NOT supposed to be about Evolution and its CERTAINLY not about atheism. THAT was what I was aggravated about. People using Ask a Protestant to prove Evolution. Not that some people believe in Evolution.
