New rule
If you want to use your invention that isn't ship related,spend an economy and it's almost the same rules as upgrading equipment with the industry times a thousand,but you must put in your orders "Equip x soldiers with y" x being amount and y being the invention (Gunblade,Vandal musket,Double Barrel Cannon etc...)And instead of time 1 thousand,it's your industry times 100 per economy level.
