Greetings,
This is another Deity Fractal map and I would need ideas going forward :scan:
Leader is Asoka.
T0.png

Obviously someone :groucho: would automatically recommend SOPH where the warrior is...
But I didn't and maybe you shouldn't :groucho:

After a few dozen turns, it looks like we might be
Spoiler :
Isolated :run:

So what is the TECHNO PLAN ? what should we be bee-lining ?
Spoiler T37 :

T37.png

Settled on T2, quite happy with the trip :smoke:
Next settler is bound to 1NW of the corn (essentially to fogbust) but IDK if that's the smartest of ideas.
1N of Marble is a nice city location as well.

We've researched Agri + BW + TW so far..
Then what ?

Pottery
is a nice goal because of cottages on floodplains.
A detour through Fishing would seem logical in that case.

How about AH ? Seeing 3 of those cattle makes it a strong consideration.
Do we need the production AH might provide or is it just silly in the context of isolation ?

Are there any potential alternatives ? How hard should we beeline Monarchy ?

Obviously we plan to defend with warriors only :please:

Thoughts ? Drews ?

Settling on the warrior's PH would make the capital impossible to build a workboat for the crab. SIP or moving inland is certainly a decent choice.

Not an expert of isolation and never played Deity myself, so I don't know about what people should tech/where to settle the cities in Deity isolation.

@ BiC's suggestions at #2 are certainly worth considering. Usually we don't bother to self-tech Fishing in Pangaea maps, but in isolation, Fishing is something people have to self-tech, if they don't start with. And Fishing also speeds up Pottery.

The only thing I can say is, judging from your screenshot of T37, I'm more worried about the barbs than the potential techs path. The tundra area on the north west and some fog tiles on the east are not fog-busted. Barbs are indeed aggressive on Deity. If 2 or 3 barb Archers come out of the fog and move towards your cities, that would really mess things up. It's already T37, some barbs warriors or archers might be wandering around.

Maybe send that warrior near Bombay down south, to check if there is some ocean seafood around that Marble.

So I did forget the dream about island horses and went fishing > pottery.
@bic you have not lost faith on sea horseman people have you ?

Also forgot about the SOPH city (again) and followed the yellow brick road.

Archer invasion was contained due to :
Probably no imperialistic civ in the game, few AI cities overall => late invasion.
3 warriors spawned on the island, attacked our own wawas and lost. Luck but we had enough production for a few spares.

Now it's full gear toward monarchy (I guess). Inspiring ? :groucho:

Nice map! I would definitely throw in animal husbandry -> writing before monarchy, you have lots of nice animals and you need to get libraries up for the bulbing.

I don’t like your city 4 spot however - it basically adds no new tiles? Why not north to crabs / cows?

I'm not sure if animals and libraries are more urgent than monarchy. I also like city 4. Most important thing to me seems to be to work every cottage asap!

^ Hence the truth in BIC statement : sad life building a monument in Bombay. Wasted 15 hammers on a useless warrior (deleted)

T58: Temple Of Artemis (under construction) :bounce:

Workers need a mission : what is the superior ?
Moar cottages or Failgold / Wonders ?

It's 1600 BC, only Stonehenge has been built so far.

I don't want any increase in maintenance.
Cities can't grow until monarchy and by then AH / Writing should be a couple of turns researching.
Fishing detour was counter productive in retrospect.

Edit : Any smart Oracle target?
MC would look good 760:science: (and... Forges... ya know...)

If you can get the Oracle i would take Mona (CoL would be better but no time for writing?).
By taking Mona you could focus on Literature faster, must have with marble and plenty forests imo.

Oracle Fail (-1400). But juicy gold

Maybe time to chop out a couple of extra cities?

Aesthetics + Literature + Masonry (1000:science:) surely might yield some good GS points / failgold.

Wouldn't it be more efficient (in terms of Astro date) to beeline Optics after Monarchy ?
70-t-tree.png

It's 4000 :science: overall (non including AH + writing).

Hmm if you consider failgold hopefully funds some of Optics research, can easily afford an Academy with Glib too.
Running scientists for double Astro bulb is painful without early founded high food cities.

With SPI Caste switches also become a good option (and you get some cheap CH which are worth more in Iso), maybe you should decide between CoL and Lit.
But i would certainly take one of those 2.
