Assorted N.P. Team News

I'm waiting on one more guy who might be interested in joining. If he doesn't join by tomorrow night or maybe Tues. I'll just start it w/o him. :)

Edit : He joined and I started it. We're outgunned by around 8,000 rating points (anyone with too much time on their hands feel free to count :D) but by God, lets give 'em hell. :spear:

Make funny comments here :D

Let me see...1185 vs. 1930...:eek::eek: I am definately going to have to make my decisions very carefully in this game!:mischief::nuke:

My opponent in the new match went for Bird's opening. Haven't played it since the early 90's, but if the idea was "try something different on the 1500 player", it could be a rude awakening.

On second thought, maybe not. Looking into my opponent's history revealed 29 games using the Bird, with a 62% win rate.

Good luck! I won't make a move in any of my games until tomorrow afternoon or evening, because I open tomorrow morning (means I am up by 4am MST) and do not know when I will be home from town. ;) At least we have a mod here in our group. :D

And an ex-mod ;)

Yeah, I forgot DaveShack was a mod so actually my pipe dream of becoming a CFC mod really is no longer important (though it would still be cool :D). And Thunderfall is wise & correct that there's not really a whole lot that needs modding around here. I still wish he'd promote this sub-forum & I believe I laid out a pretty convincing argument here.

In our sling match, my opponent has played the Four Pawns Attack against my King's Indian.

I've never had to face this against anyone who knew what they were doing... let's hope the theory I know helps a little... and hopefully all those games he's playing means he'll spend less time on mine in a very sharp position.

My games are looking interesting, but I am still waiting on my 1930 rated opponent to make his first move.

PS. I went and added CFF to the Featured Links at a directory I run. I am planning to PM Thunderfall and let him know as well. ;)

Please don't mention anything to him about me being a mod, that case is closed, but do mention you think it should be a real subforum. :)

I started another team match (for players currently under 1600) and accepted a team match against "The pi memorizers" (you can't make this stuff up :D).

Both can be found here --> http://www.chess.com/groups/matches/narzs-people

The pi match game is 3 days a move (and both games at a time instead of the usual one) & the other is 5 days a move.

Out and out. I have enough games for now, and with a tournament that I'm hosting coming up soon, I need to keep my games to the bare min.

In and In (unless I end up having to play significantly better people, at which point I'd bail on them)
I wouldn't worry about that in the Pi matchup. It will probably be the first team match so far where we'll be outgunning our opponents on every board.

As for the "Chess Unlimited" not so much. They're another mega-group so they're match'll probably consist of all 1500+'s & everyone else will get crowded out.

Hopefully you won't get crowded out of the Pi tourney. The Pi team is the opposite of Chess Unlimited, they only have six members total.

I wonder what would happen if you tried to play for both sides. :D

BTW Sahsie, I locked the other one already, I'm gonna withdraw myself also so more people can play. Hopefully the other side can get their whole team on board.
