FREEDOM RIDES ON THE HORNS OF THE BULL

==Chinese War (formerly the War of the Two Dynasties)==

India has declared itself the arsenal of democracy and sovereignty in Asia. Rather than accepting the Korean casus belli that Jiang China has caused issues with the Korean bloc in the past, India has authorized an armed excursion into Taiwan and China in support of Jiang independence.

Indian war plans called for a massive assault on Taiwan and a large bombing campaign of Yi China, but these plans have fallen through due to lack of sufficient troops and hardware (most of which are still undergoing training and construction, respectively). The assault on Taiwan, however, goes through.

The result is a massive battle in the South China Sea. Korea’s bombers attempt to shell the Indian carriers; as the Korean bombers fly without escorts, they are still easy prey for India’s lone pair of fighter squadrons. At the same time, however, Indian fighters are poorly-equipped, the Indian industrial base hardly up to the task of arming such a massive military force. Despite this setback, Korea’s bombing run fails, and one Bomber is lost.

At this goes on in the air, on the sea ships are engaged in a brutal struggle for supremacy. 2 Carriers, 5 Battleships, 6 Destroyers, 2 Submarines, and 1 Yi Submarine engage the Indian fleet of 5 Battleships, 2 Submarines, and 6 Destroyers. While the submarines had been tasked with engaging the carriers, the Indian carriers have sat the battle out, while the submarines are also being pegged by the Indian destroyers. Even so, India’s poorly-armed forces are also at a disadvantage in training, solely having numbers to rely on.

2 Indian Destroyers and 1 Korean submarine are destroyed in the battle. The Indians suffer far more casualties, however, and are forced to retreat. With their shipyards constructing a huge array of new ships, the Indians are sure to try again in the coming months. However, Indian advisers are quick to mention that without a strong industrial base, India’s soldiers will be ground up like hamburger.

In the occupied Jiang territories, a clear leader has made itself known among the insurgents: the Qinghai Communes, under the charismatic Mao Zedong. Originating around the lake of the same name, the Communes have seized control of many outlying towns, while also allying with or deposing virtually all alternative leaders in the insurgency. While drawing on Marxist influences, the Communes’ ideology is known for espousing the place of agricultural (rather than industrial) workers in bringing about revolution, while also holding magic in high esteem, unlike the Jiang elites. The Communes have rejected the feudal system of the Jiang Emperor, who is considered a traitor to the people, and Korean rule/suzerainty.

The Communes have seen a surge in enthusiasm in the aftermath of the Indian invasion, seeing an opportunity to take power and establish the independence of their state; they have already purged thousands of collaborators as well as waged guerilla warfare on Korean troops in the country. Consistent reports of missing equipment and AWOL soldiers indicate that they have also acquired hardware and personnel. With the uncertain legal status (Korea has neither annexed the territory or placed it beneath a puppet regime) of occupied Jiang China, it is a mystery where the insurgency will go.

Provided one has established espionage in Jiang China, it is now possible to arm the insurgents via espionage.

Losses:
Korea (-1 Bomber, -1 Submarine; -800 troops)
India (-2 Destroyers; -1600 troops)
Jiang (-4000 civilians)

==Cumulative Losses since 1950==
India (2 Destroyers; 1600 troops)
Korea (2 Infantry, 1 Submarine, 1 Bomber; 5800 troops)
Jiang (1 Armor, 1 Infantry; 7000 troops)
-54,000 Jiang Civilians

Apologies for the delay, but here she is.

The Indians launched a failed offensive to take Taiwan against the Korean Empire and its allies, motivated by the war against the Jiang. While the Indian offensive was a failure primarily due to insufficient numbers and poor industrial provisions, the manpower reserves of both powers, as well as their military buildups, foreshadow that this war could go on for some time.

The Zulu have smashed the Cape Commonwealth’s military, citing abuses against Africans as justification for the conflict. The United Arab Republic showed solidarity with the Zulu by deploying forces outside its homeland to prevent reprisal.

The Amazon and Benelux have seen new improvements in healthcare, while better armaments have been developed by the United Arab army and Solan navy. Sol’s low regulations and taxation are assumed to be assisting its technological lead.

Free State Biomass has formed in the Congo, with a specialty in energy production. The Pacific has also seen the rise of Pacific Energy in Tondo. These new energy giants are sure to pave the way for cheaper energy in a world that has been seen a surge in prices. As revenue flows into the coffers of the states they reside in, they have each put up shares for sale; they are some of the largest companies in the world as of their formation, with only the Tet Bank, Arab Petro, and Ryker Shipping capable of rivalling their size.

Economic hiccups in Cherefe have caused some bankruptcies, though nothing disastrous. Despite this, some small protests have forced a concession out of the government, resulting in a small tax cut. The wider world economy shows no signs of an end to prosperity.

How, precisely, is resource demand calculated? I ask because since last turn everyone's deficit in tertiary resources has reduced approximately six-fold whilst across the board surpluses for pretty much every other resource have become deficits, often pretty deep, for everything except organics (and the organics surpluses have been cut massively as well).

OOC: Tani, it appears that pretty much none of my orders regarding the stock market were processed. Namely:

-$80 for the Gulag Prom branches (10 Branches)
-$64 for the Arab Petrol branches (8 Branches)

-1 Branch for Siberia ($21), in exchange for $20
-2 Branches for Tibet ($42), in exchange for $40
-3 Branches for the Republic of China ($63), in exchange for $60
-4 Branches for Sol ($84), in exchange for 5 Tet Shares

Please tell me I'm wrong.

@ NinjaCow:

Didn't see anything on Thor and Mech's ends, but you've been given the branches retroactively.

@ filli_noctus:

I restructured the demand for one's domestic resource so they lined up with the international demand indicators. Shortages seem apocalyptic, but it's supposed to represent how there's technically scarcity even in a top-tier economy.

@ Everyone else:

It occurs to me that I need to fill in the gaps for free trade due to non-responsive nations auto-confirming trade.

Thanks Tani, phew that's a relief. :)

Will you update the spreadsheet with the new stuff? It doesn't matter if you don't, I don't mind. :)

New Incomes/Summits posted in the spoilers, while the spreadsheet has been mostly updated. The extra branches are missing off the stock market page, but they're on my personal spreadsheet, so don't worry, they're accounted for.

Now, everyone try not to kill each other over the new stocks. :mischief:

We offer you a miliary alliance and we should coordinate against Korean imperialism.

We ask you to join us against Korean imperialism. If Korea is not defeated now, all of East Asia will become their colony.

Have anything more productive to contribute?

In the interest of Tet management, we are assigning (Mosher's Country) as manager of Gulf Fishing. As management, that government would be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the company, including branch building. Dividend and stock option control will be retained by the Tet Corporation.

To Normandy and Alsace Lorraine

The Papal States proposes defensive pact with corresponding non-aggression and free trade (2.0) with your nations, in order to continue the endeavour of promoting harmonious economic and political relations within Europe that we have to date attempted to establish via the Congress of Europe.

With regards to Normandy's particular relationship with Sol, we note that we do not see good relations between this as precluding a good relationship between the Papal States and Normandy, seeing as the belligerence in our relationship with them is entirely on the part of Sol and we remain open to a normalisation of relations with them the very instant they desist from their hostile policies towards us.

ooc: Speaking of the Congress of Europe, you seem to have excluded it from the treaties section of the stats sheets. (for the record DP's have been announced and agreed on the thread with Castille, Navarre, Asturias, Occitania, The Swiss Empire, Genoa, Venice, Hungary, Scotireland, Savoy, Poland and Fortschritte). All these nations likewise have free trade and non-aggression with the Papal States and presumably each other.

Tany why did the global economy crash?

Cape Commonwealth, you gonna surrender yet?

West India Man has confirmed to have dropped as Somalia. Somalia will be open to be taken over next turn and will run under the same basic rules as the Aztecs in the meantime.

Normandy is open to relaxed trade restrictions (1.5) and non-aggression, but must decline an alliance, with its commitments being to the Liberum Solis first and foremost.

Alsace-Lorraine accepts the provisions of the Papacy's treaty, fearful of both German and French irredentism.

Ah, I forgot to unhide part of the Treaties sheet. Remedied. :p

Tany why did the global economy crash?

I restructured it. There's a difference!

Cape Commonwealth, you gonna surrender yet?

Zulu experts state the rough translation of these longwinded remarks is, "No."

The Communes are more than willing to join India in its struggle against Korea if the latter does not withdraw from the former Jiang territory immediately.
