Autumn 2017 Patch General Discussion

The new religious beliefs look fantastic. Stupas are going to be a go-to for myself, and I love the burial grounds and religious idol boost. Even for non-religion players, city-patron goddess is nothing to sneeze at.

Adding religious pressure to both ends of a trade route:
  • Destination city gets 1 pressure per turn of the origin city's majority religion (if it has one). This is the same amount as if that city was close by.
  • Origin city gets 0.5 pressure per turn of the destination city's majority religion (if it has one)

Good thing to add from Civ 5.

  • AI will no longer commit to battles they cannot win
  • Improve AI city and district placement
  • Improved AI’s valuation of great works

Will just have to see.

Removed some of the least useful Gossip messages to improve signal to noise:

Hope.

Fix player being able to make peace with city states while at war with the suzerain

Ouch. Well, now I'll have to care.Told you guys it was a bug.

Archery tech boost earned by a Slinger on defense
Amazing.

Corrected an error that made the AI very unlikely to agree to alliances

Good.

EHHHH..... nothing that groundbreaking really.

Something might be borked with the CS placement. Or did this happen before (random map)?

Spoiler :

This is my second turn seeing the settler and he moved, so he didnt spawn there. He might still be searching for a spot.

Update! Next turn, the settler settled in place. Maybe it's a feature, not a bug! Late spawning CS!
I've seen that in TSL games where CS spawn into game with two close major civs(ei: Persia, India and Kabul). The settler wanders until it finds a valid city spot. Pretty easy turn 2 capture by Persia.

According to a /r/civ post:

The 9 Religion-avoiding leaders are Gilgamesh, Gorgo, Pericles, Qin, Trajan, Roosevelt, Victoria, Alexander and Curtin

Additionally, Gandhi, Philip, Saladin, and Jadwiga are defined as being particularly religious (TRAIT_LEADER_RELIGIOUS_MAJOR_CIV).

THANK. GOD. I was so sick of Curtin spamming apostles at me, I swear he was worse than Philip when it came to religious spread. Every single game I had with Curtin he would ALWAYS go for a religious victory and it was getting so boring.

I just had a complete hard crash (first time ever on this computer after 2 years) after stepping down to immortal and seeing an encampment send out a unit every turn for 11 turns (then the crash). Good thing it was just slingers and warriors 4 tiles from the capital....

Turn 26 was the crash.

Maybe that will change now that I've rebooted -- just gonna try a new game.

And for those who close the game down at the end of their session, please state if you are still getting the exit to desktop bug still.

welp, I have rebooted numerous time, but I still don't get the new Civs :(

It says I have the new content but for some reason, no SEA. Any ideas?

Is the DLC enabled in the "Additional Content" menu?

okay major bug. Couldn't start my game.

When I set everything up, and hit start game, I was kicked back to the main menu? Anyone have this? Sigh, I'll have to re set everything up and try again.

You need to enable them on the 'additional content' screen.

Tried to verify your files? Using mods?

my bug repeated again, I can't start a game. :( what gives?

Tried to verify your files? Using mods?

I did verify my files since I did some adjustments last summer. And that updated fine (I re verified and it came up with no problems the 2nd time). No mods enabled. hmmm.

Only thing I can think of is it can't find enough starting positions for the extra civs I added. Will try with less civs (I usually add 3 civs to the default).

Can anyone who's played please confirm if the tech quote bug is fixed? I know its not mentioned in patch notes.

New pathenon and beliefs seems good, but still far from Goddess of Harvest and Papal Primacy.
Indonesia with +2 Faith per turn is really great to ensure Goddess of Harvest, and this makes it possible to purchase lots of 120 prod boats and upgrade to Jongs. It can have a huge Jong army of about 6~8 Jongs at T75 or so, fantastic.
