I swear by all the salt in the sea, I've looked up one side and down the other of Central America, and for the life of me I can't find this one. Can someone give me some pointers on this? I've attached a map that I'm trying to follow.

I can't help, but I gotta say that is worse than any map I've gotten yet. Obviously the only useful landmark is too far inland to spot while sailing. Did you try the obvious and just start hiking ?

The lake with the Skull could be a good indicator. Altho, if you cannot see the lake from the ship ... ?!

When you are in land mode. Can you change the view. Like changing the view when battling ships.

i guess, being the incan treasure, they wanted to make it hard for you. :)

You can use your spyglass.

Yes, I have literally walked from one end of Central America to the other, checked all the spots that looked like they had lakes on them, had my spyglass out the whole time, etc. This is starting to ruin an otherwise fun game, because I've had to waste so much time pointlessly wandering around.

Does Cutlass Isle not refer to a named Landmark on the map?

You should be able to see this mark while sailing.

Then simply head STRAIGHT inland - this way I found Gran Granada, hard to find even if it is on the map, too.

Oh, it's a landmark, all right. But it's NOT visible from the anywhere you can sail, and since you don't see landmark names when you're walking, that bit of information is almost meaningless.

Here is the solution, in case anyone else is ever unlucky enough to get that thrice-accursed map. In the strictest sense, it IS 'northwest of Gran Grenada', but that's rather like saying 'Los Angeles is west of the Mississippi'. Not very accurate at all.

If you go to the southwestern corner of the Bay of Honduras, there's a little pirate outpost on the southern edge. If you walk just slightly southeast from there, you'll find the spot (almost straight south, just ever so slightly to the southeast). The body of water doesn't show up on any of the maps, which is rather stupid. I basically found the spot by blundering into it after a loooooooooong search.

Wow, Gran Granada...I don't think I've ever been there in any of the Pirates games. Its just too damn far away!

Its a nice place. You should visit. Don't forget to check out the water fountain ;)

Yes, I did find it...thanks for asking, Valamas.

You want to know what's really funny? I've actually BEEN to the modern city of Grenada, in Nicaragua. This time last year, matter of fact. And the size of lake Nicaragua on the map is no exaggeration...that is one HUGE place...there's actually what amounts to a small separate nation of people who live on the islands within it and make their living fishing or driving visitors like me around.

...That reminds me of a Montalban map I had once.... NO Shore line and like a pair of indian totems Nowhere near the hide out. 'Search South east of campeche' my left eye. Thats like... alot of Mexico there!

yea i've been searching southeast of campech for the last 2 weeks im starting to hate the game.

Try the other side.
search from the Bay of Honduras, not from Campeche

I had a map 'Search southeast of Campeche" to find Montalbans hideout. No landmarks, and the water I couldn't find anywhere on the western side of the Yucatan... Maybe I should search west of Santa Catalina...

Ha.

I've got the Lost city "in the vicinity of" gran granada. Supposed to be southeast of "Captain's Stone". There's a Captian's Stone north of GG. Searched all over, trekking back and forth. Gave up. A year or so of sailing later, I came across two other Captain's Stones; one near Pto Caballo and one near Eluthera.

You'd think the landmarks would be unique.

And was the $$ of treasure commensurate w/ how hard it was to find?

I will say the treasure hunting is probably my least favorite aspect of the game just for the sheer awkwardness of it all.

In regards to Montalban's hideout, search on the other side of the peninsula. Land north as close to New London as possible, and walk straight, try and find the landmarks, there all clumped together so you might have to return to your ship a few times and walk in a slightly different direction.

Edit: Sorry didn't realize how old this thread was.
