AVS3: Nuclear Winter

I wish I had the time to tear myself away from Half Life. But now that its handed in, consider this my "got it", unless Gyathaar wants to take it. I'll play it ASAP

1655AD(1)
Sink the Russian fleet with no loss and move a tank army towards the Spanish city of Salamanca and the completely bombed out French city of Orleans.
Clean up some units that are littered about our border for no loss.
Continue the Japanese offensive by moving troops south and bombarding the target cities.

IBT- France and China signa peace treaty.
Persia and Babylon sign an alliance against Japan.
The Babylonian Navy and Airforce are busy as several Korean cities are hit, no significant damage or troop movement to follow up however.

1660AD(2)
Kill 2 French TOW’s to capture the city of Orleans and Barcelona falls the to might of a tank army.
The Japanese city of Tlatelolco is bombarded by the Korean Air Force and a lone tank is able to wipe out the two dazed Infantry defending the city to capture it.
A Nuke Sub in the far north, near Spanish territory spots a Chinese fleet, so I dutifully sink the transport and run like fun.
Notice a Bab settler pair. Nice of them, 2 new slaves.
Rush libraries in Paris, Dover and Lyon and temples in Leeds and Eulbar to prevent flips.
Wipe out 3 TOW’s, what are now precious to France as the numbers of their armed forces dwindle.

IBT-America and Spain sign a peace treaty.
Babylon and Persia sign a MPP.
Unfortunately the sub which sunk the Chinese transport is sunk by an obviously pissed off Chinese Destroyer.
Babylon and China declare war on each other.
Loose a tank to a French TOW.
Notice a lot of French fleet movement
Babs want to talk. Refuse. As a result they capture the city of Hastings and land a TOW next to Suwon.
Some Japanese troop movement but nothing concentrated.

1665AD(3)
Recapture Hastings and scold myself for the lapse. One of the good things however is that it has drawn Bab units out from their defences, 3 TOW and a Mech Inf which should come under severe bombardment shortly, capture another 4 slaves.
Launch a nuke at the Bab city of Shuruppak and Ashur and capture both with no loss.
Move three tank army to the French cities of Rheims and Chartres. After that, with only the capital Dijon left hopefully I can finish off the French before I hand over the torch. Take out the Bab fleet and sink the French carrier near Pusan.
Riflemen are no match against tank armies as the Spanish learn, shaving two defenders off of Zaragoza, leaving only an antiquated longbow man to defend the city.

IBT- France and Japan sign an alliance against Babylon.
Spain and France sign a peace treaty.
Japan move 2 Guerillas against Tlatelolco
A French Cruiser attempts to attack the Korean fleet forming west of Suwon, but fails miserably.

1670AD(4)
Capture Rheims with little fuss unfortunately the city of Chartres is more difficult and will not fall this turn.
In Japan I continue the assault on Nara, loosing a tank but capturing the Ivory city.
Accidently hit the wrong button and as a result the tank army outside Zaragoza wastes a turn moving south, which results in only killing 2 rifleman and not the last (and annoying) Longbow man, so the city remains Spanish for the time being.

IBT- America and China sign a peace treaty.
Persian bombers attack our forces at Tenochtitlan.
Persia and England sign a peace treaty. The world is almost at peace…… well…….almost
Japan move away from Tlatelolco, cowards.
A phone call from my mum resulted in me missing the French and Babylonian turns but I did notice the French landing a lone units near Suwon and we shot down a Babylonian bomber near Ashur. I wish there was a pause button.

1675AD(5)
Nuke the French capital of Dijon and Chartres and take the cities with tank armies to end the reign of the “Glorious French”.
Finally capture the city of Zaragoza. I’ll leave any more conquests to the next player. It should be possible to do a leap-frog manuver with the two tank armies in Spanish territory, take one city with one then leave to heal, then take the next city with the other army, and progress on until the Spanish are finished.
Rush libraries in Oxford, Ashur, Ellipi and Hastings to prevent flips.
The Babylonians are being incredibly generous by sending settler pairs past Hastings. Grab another 2 slaves and see another pair in the distance.

Summary- I think we’re slightly light on defensive units. We’re starting to have more cities than units to defend them with. I have tanks defending some of the newly captured French cities.
In Spain, there is no danger from Isabella’s armed forces, the occasional rifle is sent out or maybe a Longbow man but that’s it. I have two tank armies up there but one could do if the next player would like to send another army to help mop up Babylon
Babylon are still a nuisance, occasionally they send units out (like the capture of Hastings) but nothing in any real significant numbers. Any units which enter our territory are easily mopped up by our overwhelming superiority in artillery. I’m not sure what our risk of flips are. With no more France there is no scare there and it seems like our culture is on par with Babylon so that “shouldn’t” be a problem.
In Japan the attacks are moving nicely, this is where the fiercest enemy troop movements have been but they have been to scared to attack. I moved the bombers south slightly to the city of Teotihuacan. This was to put them out of range of Persian bombers.
The fleet outside Suwon is coming on nicely, I added to it slightly some transports, destroyers and Cruisers and added 2 bombers to the Carrier.

I believe that’s about it. Nothing else much to report. I still don’t have a spy in Babylon so I am unaware of their potential strength so that might be a good idea to keep trying there. Unless something major happens the continent is pretty much ours.
