AZS-01 - The British Empire - OPEN

I won't be able to take this until tomorrow (I have a Kanji test tomorrow to study for) so someone else feel free to take it if you wanna have it in the next few hours. Otherwise when I jump this most recent hurdle I'll return and work on it.

This was a pretty interesting game.

Preturn - up lux to 20% and I can fire a huge amount of entertainers. Now most cities aren't starving, and we're making MORE money than we were before. Gotta keep watch on cities so there's no unrest when they grow..

1) 1305 - London cav-cav, steveopolis cav-cav, chrth's folly cav-cav, influence expands in new hisopolis, west chrthilvania Man-o-war-man-o-war, jobocaster starves, barracks-market. I MM jobocaster so it won't grow and now we have a scientist there to give us minimum research.
This one rifleman in rome WORKS our cavalry hardcore. We lose like 4 cavs to him and he only went down to 2 life.

2) 1310 - hottown cav-cav. Move lotsa cav around. I'm gonna amass a large force before assaulting rome again.

3) 1315 - York goes into riot. Doh! St Steveville starves, cav-market.

4) 1320 - Hiwatha offers music theory for 10g. What the hell, why not. I remind myself to make the tech rounds at start of our turn. New riots break out that shouldn't be, I did the rounds last turn. Guess War wariness is hitting AGAIN. We finally get that blasted rifleman. We then take out a legion, 3 conscript riflemen, an army consisting of just a cavalry, and a spearman. They now have a wounded legion defending, and I think that's it, although they'll probably draft preturn. I expect rome to be ours next turn.
I decide that instead of tech, luxuries would be better. I trade 810g+22gpt+WM to Xerxes for Dyes and Incense. I can now lower lux to 10%, and then I make the rounds. Even after the 22GPT penalty, we're making 65 more gpt! sweet! Now incoming is up to 260, and our civ's much more productive to boot. God bless Xerxes and his excess lux. :)
Now I only have 8g though so no tech trading this turn. Instead now that we can hit 1000g in only 4 turns I start wall street in london, ETA 14 turns.

5) 1325 - Hiwatha wants to end alliance vs. romans. He wants 5gpt,8g,+WM to continue... I wait until our turn when we get some money in the bank to renew it.
ChrthLake cav-market. Goodstuff cav-market. We manage to take rome but I lose a grip of cavalry. I raze the city, of course, then retreat to heal. ErMaCAttack founded N of Steve's victory. Cumae razed. I make peace with Zulus for their world map in exchange for 14gpt. Now we have a complete picture of the world practically, and I think we're much better for it. Still making 250 a turn. It also looks like the Zulu's don't have long to live, and so we may get out of the deal that way. I don't worry about the reputation hit, it seems that everyone but the Iroquois hates us already, anyways. Hiwatha's still at war with the romans so as long as they are I'll keep from entering into an alliance. York and new Hispalis changed to make settler.

6) 1330 - London riots. Whoops! Fixed. Erik's Whales cav-cav. Chrth's folly riots. hmm think war weariness is hitting agan. I make the rounds in the city screen from ChrTh and fix places that would be going into unrest. York settler-musket. Westwines Manowar-market. Kill a legion in Veii. It seems like these last roman cities are poorly defended.
France and Zulu make peace. Neither hiwatha nor Joan will trade us Democracy yet.

7) 1335 - Delta Forse cav-cav. Wineville cav-cav. Leeville cav-bank. Horsey cav-cathedral. Stev's Castle can't grow w/o aqueduct. Decide to switch it over instead of mkaing galleon. Cav takes out rifleman in Virconium, but down to 1 life. Cav dies to pikeman in Pisae. We kill last spearman in Veii, raze it.
No one wants to trade us tech even at last civ prices. WTH?

8) 1340 - Rome and zulu embargo. boohoo. steveopolis cav-bank. ChrTh's folly cav-settler. hotTown cav-Palace (to rebuild for something, I dunno what yet, but once we catch up in tech we should be able to compete for ToE or Hoover or SOMETHING atleast). Floodlands cav-cathedral. Longbowman dies to elite pikeman in pisae. We lose 1 cav to legion in Virconium, raze it. Once I kill Pisae I plan on making peace with the romans - let them rot on their little island. Meanwhile we need to get a forbidden palace up somewhere, maybe even move the original palace further west and build FP in the east.

9) 1345 - New Hispalis settler-settler. Brighton cav-bank. ChrTh Heights library-cathedral. Steve's Cove riots. Cav takes out that elite pikeman in pisae. with our only other cav in range this turn we almost kill off vet legion, he's at 1 health but I bet they have a barracks. Next turn we have like 6 cav in range so it's dead meat.

10) 1350AD - Pisae falls, we lose a cav in the process. Somehow they got a rifleman in there in between turns - probably rushed him or something. I make peace with romans and get Democracy and Theory of Gravity for 480g in process. Sweet deal! Now I just have to keep him off our continent until we can settle it. I switch a buncha cav producers over to settler.
Holy COW was war weariness bad! Now all our cities but 1 are tweaked for WLTQDay. We're now in Indistrial Age. I call revolution so we can get to Democracy.
BigMaC founded east of ErMaCAttack.

11) 1355 - All the extra settlers I had prepped next turn before calling revolution come online. Erik's Whales settler-bank. ChrTh's Folly settler-University. Wineville settler-bank. Egyptians start Shakespeare. Iroqoius start it as well. ErMaCintosh founded. I end the embargo vs. the romans to get our 20gpt back.

12) 1360 - zzz

13) 1365 - zzz

14) 1370 - Interstingly I cannot find a single Zulu city on the world map. They're still alive though, probably in a fogged part of the south-central island.

15) 1375 - Egypt and Zulu sign peace. We FINALLY emerge from anarchy and the Great British Democracy is formed. Yay! Egyptians start Newton's.

16) 1380 - Rome and France sign peace. Chrthilvania manowar-market. Our palace gets trees.

17) 1385 - Steve's Castle aqueduct-bank.

18) 1390 - Steve's Victory settler-temple. Steverado temple-market.

19) 1395 - Mactastic! founded, builds temple.

20) 1400 - Joan suggests trading world maps w/us for 50g. I accept since we're not exactly short on money and for some reason she's furious with us! I don't know why. Palace gets a roof. Persians start ToE. MacJagger, MactionJackson, and SpiceOfLife all founded. With 2 more spices online from SpiceOfLife, I trade Spices for Gems with Persia straight across, which lets me drop lux to 0% and still have WLTQD in the vast majority of cities. I get Steam Power from Joan for 2035g+WM, she's the only person who would trade it to us but I had to donate wines to her to get her to Annoyed instead of furious, then she'd trade. We're down low in money now (really low) but in 3 turns we'll be back over 1000 and Wall Street doesn't finish for 5 turns anyway. We have only 1 source of coal on the ENTIRE CONTINENT! Holy cow. It's near Steve's Castle, it's already connected, so I start making railroads. I don't see nay other sources that are unconnected yet, but who knows.

There's space for 1 more city, and New Hispalis is building the settler for it. There's an Iroqois boat in sight on its way over there, and another caravel that's headed there as well. I bet there's a settler in each to try and found a city somewhere. Keep an eye out for it, don't let them found a city on our continent. There's a huge chunk of cavalry on the eastern penninsula - use them to follow the ship and blockade their landing sites.
Good priorities: Try to get tech parity again. Some of the civs are further behind that others.
Best way is to get markets in every city. This is also important because we need every city to be in We Love the Queen Day until we get our new palaces placed. Since we have 7 our of the 8 luxuries, and there's some ivory sitting on the other continent which when claimed we might be able to trade for, markets are our best tool to keeping the people happy.
At this point the game is down to 4 civs. The French are stuck on a single city on the south-middle island. The Zulu are stuck in an Artic prison at the tip of Persia's empire. Rome's sitting on a couple islands north of us and they have a city right next to the Zulu's last city.
It's down to us, Egypt, Persia, and the Iroquois. The Iroquois look like they're in a bad position since their island is not hue and egypt and persia basically have the largest continent in the world to split between each other, and egypt's got the biggest presence on the central island. I think Persia will be our biggest problem, but hopefully we can keep good relations with him by trading spices and wines with him for his other luxuries.

Good job EMac... :goodjob: Since the rules state that only perso is needed between turns and that there is no surf over here, I'll have another crack at it....will post new .sav and journal in a few hours...:D

OK, England is startig to take back the high seas. We have Ivory now and have driven Rome from the area. We;ve got a Golden Age goign with tjhe Navy and an Army. The Zulu are at war with England now and have one sad city left. If the next PM could send that Army over there to get an easy victory Britian could build the Academy. No one wills ell tech to us anymore so we have been cranking out Libraries and unis and can pop tech in about 8 turns and still make 200 gold a turn. Anyway IMHO the privateer stacks covered by our ironcladsd are decimating the huuuuge Iroqouis fleet, destroyed the Roman fleet and have put some R-E-S-P-E-C-T back into the Persians about Jolly Ol (Roger) England :) Here's the journal...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1405 AD -- With great cheers the newest son of the clan of MacDuck was elected to Prime Minister after glorious reign of King EMacs I guided the nation's way into the new age of Democracy. One of the PMs first duties was to address the Parliament and announce that a new age of naval power had begun. Our nation has secured the homelands and now said MacDuck, we must secure the seas. Several financial institutions are rushed into completion while the first Iron Clad goes on production. Word has it that a new secret clandestine navy is also being built for the purposes of covert activity on the seas. Meanwhile MacDuck also addressed the continuing Roman blight in Ireland. MacDuck and his advisors felt that as long as the Roman nation survived, anytime conflict arose the cities would rise with unrest. Rumors at No. 10 Downing Street swirl about plans being drafted for a massive lightning war into Ireland. Meanwhile the economic engine of England churns on.

1410 -- 1410 brings results from the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The new envoys were informed that Hiawatha's approval of us was dismal and that he was ready to cut off Silk to Mother England and that Persia did not want to continue with their deals for furs in exchange for our wines. The envoy tossed a lump sum of 17 gold at the Persians along with the original deal and both he deal and the attitude has improved greatly between our nations. Hiawatha's people would not budge on nationalism but our envoys were able to get the original deal along with some gold and more importantly a trade embargo against the Romans. As if luck would have it a good-sized Roman fleet has appeared off the newly conquered are of the Spice-Of-Life. With Iroquois ships so close, the hope that MacDuck's embargo will spark a war between the two and give pretext to an invasion of the Roman lands. Additionally the Roman outpost in Persia's area has denied the Persians the furs they need. The Generals agree that before any action against Rome can precede the English have to have a settler, workers and an army on a galleon and Man-O-War to take the town before the Persians do and secure the fur and keep our trade network alive.

1415 -- The Persian started the year off by announcing the building of the Shakespeare Theater. MacDuck's Home Office spokesperson called it "rubbish". It is clear that Rome is the focus of this administration’s tenure and the naval build-up. The Roman navy has disappeared into the fog towards the Iroquois homeland and our hope is that they colonize there, making the Iroquois declare war on them. Stevopoolis rushes work on their Galleons while a bank is rushed in Leeville continuing the commitment to economic growth that was the hallmark of King EMac I's rule. Word of an above average impressments of sailors and criminals is circulating around Western Wines. Our culture continues to grow in the north as the temples of previous rules slowly come on line.

1420 -- The Iroquois continue to send mixed signals. One of our spy Galleys has seen a detachment of Calvary moving towards the former Roman city of Antium, which is now controlled by Persia. The Persians have garrisoned a veteran brigade of Calvary there and hope is high in the Foreign Ministry and Defense Ministry that the Romans will soon attack. But on the other hand several Iroquois ship have appeared in three empty lands around the Big Mac province, sparking rumors that this is either an invasion fleet or a fleet of settlers. More foreign ships continue to appear in great numbers and now more than ever the need for a mighty navy is illustrated to all of England. Recruitment centers for the navy are opened up and it appears that the papers are right about a covert fleet being assembled. A Persian ironclad that threatened the new fleet was countered with a fleet of a Man-O-War. Hopefully, it will attack and pay the price.

1425 -- The Persians opinion of England was somewhat stunted as they revoked both dye and incense. While the cost of renewal was a bit steep, the happiness it brought, not to mention an improved trade status with Persia and the fact that the National Treasury could support justified the go-ahead. The other countries still guard Nationalism with a vengeance, and so with naval matters more pressing the Generals were denied the go=ahead as it would have bankrupted England. The Persian fleet of ironclads sailed on. More of the fleet continue to steam to the Roman border while news of an attack at Antium coupled with the Iroquois fleet moving towards Ireland have confirmed out best thoughts of an invasion. Still the furs outpost is priority one for MacDuck and his admiralty. MacDuck ordered the building of the town of Lahaina to secure the wine resources that were drawing so many expeditions from foreign lands.

1430 -- Twas a quiet year for Merry 'Ol England. Word among the boys is that several divisions of Calvary have boarded Galleons, but it appears to be a mere exercise. The Iroquois have landed in Ireland and have taken a Roman town. Calls for war against Rome becomes louder each year as the fear that the Iroquois will soon all of Ireland. The fleet continues to move into position.

1435 -- The PM met with Creaser’s people and demanded that they give us Nationalism. Once again they refused and so with orders in hand the great navy moved forward to smash the Roman fleet. No nation will sell England technology anymore and so in order to cross the threshold and survive militarily a decision was made to open up the Office of Scientific Research again. Now, though with the economic engine and the educational facilities of England it shan't be long before we can convert our musketmen to riflemen.

1440 -- The war begins and already the sins of our forefathers in taking Roman conclaves has come back to haunt Mother England. It is certain that the Roman tribe is not long for this world and so involvement now will give us a stake in Ireland. Xerxes demanded a tribute of 43 gold and our territory map. Since we are in a horrid position to fight them, we have to give in and we must wear this yoke of oppression...for now. 6 divisions of Calvary have landed on the small Isle of Man, just off the coast of BigMac and hope is high we can capture the facility with it's port intact. A review of the charts at Number 10 Downing Street has seen an uncontested filed of Ivory. The Egyptians are preoccupied with the Persians and so a decision is made to assemble a landing party post haste to grab this source of luxury

1445 -- This time brought a mixed period in the PM reign of MacDuck. While a Man-O-War was lost to a Roman frigate off Ireland, our Calvary took the town and destroyed THREE fleets of Roman Galleons. Our admiralty is convinced that the Romans were planning an invasion of England again and while there has been a trouble with hooligans in some cities, order has been restored. The secret fleet joined up with another Man-O-War and rather than challenge the authority of our Ironclad fleet of the Isle of Man a Roman fleet of Frigates has pursued the Iniquitous fleet. Our generals are hopeful that we can take the last Roman city on Ireland to establish prescience there since Jerusalem has fallen to the Iroquois. This tine has given us the opportunity to build our fleet but we must build more if we are to take back the seas and thwart the Persians from attacking us on the northern, weaker coasts.

1450 -- Our Minister of the Treasury has convinced parliament to allocate more funds away from science to the populous until the Roman War is over. MacDuck and the legislature both are in agreement that it will only delay Nationalism a few more turns while making the people happy enough to end the domestic strife and riots that have rocked several of the cities across England. More navy moves into place the expedition to the Ivory Coast is coming along quite nicely.

1455 -- Our troops have landed on Ireland, and much to the joy of our men it looks as if the Iroquois force is petering out and will not be able to take the last Roman city. Our hope id that they will weaken the veteran riflemen and allow us to grab this prize and then sue for an equitable peace for England. The secret fleet has moved in range of another branch of the fleet and look poised to form a mighty fleet of Privateers and Man-O-War. If we can destroy the Iroquois Caravels and Galleons a major blow will be had for the Indian tribe and it will help to tip the scale towards England on the high seas. Steveopolis and Delta Forse work long shift to produce two Ironclads in order to beef up the coastline along the Persian seas to deter any type of attack.

1460 -- Not much happening except sure as fog on the Moors, the Persian Ironclads have returned to menace the coast of England, giving more credence to the Admiralty's fears that the north side of England remains venerable to attack. It appears that they after the secret fleets, so they have hoisted sail to lure the Ironclad away from the coast and allow a rushed ironclad to take up defense along the area. Our attack of 2 Calvary divisions was gained only one conscript unit of Roman riflemen. But the Iroquois were unable to do much either and it is hope that God will grant a Roman stay so that it may fall into England's hands.

1465 -- The bloody Roman fleet has reappeared making it apparent to all that England is far behind other countries in building a navy and this road will be a hard one. The Persian Ironclad moved towards elements of two privateers but our Ironclad fleet has joined them to stave off the marauders. Our main fleet of three privateer flotillas and two Man-O-War has cornered the Iroquois fleet off the Spice-of-Life and will either force a battle or force them towards the Roman fleet. Our hope is that this will buy time for our two fleets of ironclads to round the horn and destroy the ships once and for all. They are a festering wound in the side of the Admiralty and a reminder of how just this cause is.

1470 -- An attack on he last Roman City fails yet again and to add insult to injury, the Persians have grabbed the fur resource. Still our Ivory fleet expedition appears to be well and will bring more rewards to England. Now we musty scrape together a ground force soon to take out Roman city or forget it and sue for peace.

1475 -- SUCCESS! Our covert navy program has finally reaped large bounties as two crews of Privateers successfully destroyed an Iroquois fleet frigate and a Galley with no loss to our own renegades. The Iroquois fleet have started to turn and run for their home waters and a great sense of joy swells across the land as it appears for the first time in generations that England will truly be free of invasion forces. Yet on a bad note the Romans have scored a success at sea when their frigates wiped out our ironclad and maneuvered close for a landing. Another is not the way and a fleet of Galleons is reportedly moving into position to sacrifice their ships in the name of God and Country so that another fleet of English frigate and the iron clad can reach there in time. Off in the Persian Sea, one of Man-O-Wars ran in to a Roman galley and is said to be out of position and vulnerable.

1480 -- WE ENTER A GOLDEN AGE! Our navies are letting loose a havoc that has struck fear until all those that have terrorized England. Our ships have scored victories across the high seas and when a lone Roman galley fled our virtuous Captains dispatched them with our Man-O-Wars. The Age of Sail is upon us and with it comes a Golden Age as all cities celebrate. If that wasn't enough our expedition to the Ivory Coast has landed and we hope that ivory will soon fill our storefronts.

1485 -- WLTQ day erupts over the land as news of the victories poor in. Unfortunately holes in our defense system were exposed as the Roman Navy landed a Cavalry unit near Lahaina. But our troops were swift and regular divisions of Calvary destroyed the Roman invaders. Our great fleets of noblemen continue to destroy the Iroquois fleet. Two more Calvary units are formed and sent to the front while portions of the Railroad Act is modified to make connecting all the cities a priority to make the country more ready for defense.

1490 -- The news that the Persians have completed Universal Suffrage stung our pride but, with our economy, culture and our Navy growing by Leaps and Bounds it is not to harmful. The Iroquois have begun Universal Suffrage but it appears the Persians will get tit first. Still England is now in the throes of "The Gay 90s" and WLTQ celebrations break out everywhere.
WE HAVE PRODUCED A LEADER! Our great forces have struck hard at Ceaseraugustus and out of the blood toil Edward and the Light Brigade emerged. No other nation will give us any more technology so it is up to us to pull up our bootstraps and research it ourselves which makes getting an Army the only course now.

1495 -- The time is quiet for the most part except for a story of a foolish and greedy Corsair who challenged a veteran Iroquois Frigate and lost. More ships of private means are secured but the Minister of the Admiralty is pleading for more harbors so that more quality units can be produced. Edward and three veterans Calvary are transported.

1500 -- Our fleet is victorious again as a detachment of Ironclads destroys what appears to be the last fleet of Roman Galleons. A crippled Frigate remains and once again a valiant English crew stands ready to make the ultimate sacrifice by trying to bait the frigate away from the Roman Harbor and destroy it at sea.

1505 -- Our fleets find both success and a slight bitter taste of failure. The great news was the final destruction of the Roman stronghold at Ceaseraugustus. Now only two small Roman towns are left and they are far from our sphere of influence. Before his term ended MacDuck Jr. said his PM reign hopefully would help to pave the road of England's naval might. With the annexation of the Roman lands MacDuck declared the country to be Great Britain. (Next Post to have save game)

I'll go ahead and give the game another go around.

Looks like Prime Minister ErMaC is about to be reelected!

As the "Gay 90's," as they would later become known as, drew to a close, Prime Minister MacDuck was forced to leave office after his term limits had been reached. His successor was none other than the son of the great Prime Minister ErMaC, ErMaC W.

1) 1510 - Renew agreement w/persians, renew embargo+trade with iroquois but I gotta through in 80g. WLTQD all over the place. Floodlands bank-univ (prebuild for factory). Went and fired all entertainers. Moved stuff. Lost a privateer to a persian ironclad, manage to kill it with another though.

2) 1515 - london cav-rifle. Steve's Castle cav-library. I shut off all cavalry production to prebuild for factories.

3) 1520 - leeville privateer-library. WesternWines harbor-lib, steveville market-aqueduct.

4) 1525 - I have to pay through the NOSE for luxes from Xerxes, but to keep the WLTQD going I pay his price, 100gpt and 520g + WM for both, although I did them as separate deals. Get industralization, I change a crapload of cities over to factories except hottown which was prebuilding the palace - i switch that over to Universal suffrage, ETA 3 turns. Cross your fingers. Brighton nudie beach harbor-factory. Steverado temple-factory. jbocaster lib-aqueduct.
I go for Espionage next - if people won't trade us techs, then we'll STEAL THEM. Muhahahhahaa! :mwaha:

5) 1530 - Steve's Victory rifle-aqueduct. New hispalis market-aqueduct, ErMaCintosh temple-aqueduct. Egyptians start Suffrage. At this point I just start setting workers to non-overwrite auto mode. I keep railroading the core manually but I let the folks on the periphery just railroad on auto - almost every city is connected (except ones in far northern tundra, they will be next turn I bet).

6) 1535 - Rome and Iroquois sign peace. ErMaCAttack rifle-temple. WineVille factory-university. York market-temple. Chrthilvania lib-factory. MacJagger temple-aqueduct. Rome declares war on us for being at war with Zulu due to mutual protection pact. Move stuff around, build more railroads.

7) 1540 - WLTQD starts dropping off in some cities even after I upped lux to 10% last turn - warweariness is hitting fortunately, this turn we got UNIVERSAL SUFFRAGE! also BigMac temple-market. Our army has landed and attacked the zulus successfully, so when factories are finished in major cities I will build the hero wonders. I switch Wineville over to Galleon which will finish next turn and move the remaining cavalry on our continent there. I'm gonna kill the romans once and for all and stop this stupid war weariness.

8) 1545 - ChrTh's Folly Factory-Epic, Wineville galleon-colluseum. I take the last Zulu city, raze it. We get a worker though, which is good because our settler to grab the furs arrives this turn.

9) 1550 - we get Espionage, go for Medicine. London Factory-military academy, steveopolis factory-intelligence agency, goodstuff aqueduct-factory, jbobshire aqueduct-factory. Palace regains Symmetry. Smith's Fur Trading Co. founded. I disband a cavalry there and then rush a harbor. We lose a privateer to an ironclad, not by choice. I was running from it but it would've caught up next turn so I decided attacking was better than defending. I up luxes so that we can get back into WLTQD in most cities.

10) 1555 - Horsey town factory-courthouse,Spiceoflife temple-market. SFTCo. Harbor-temple, will probably dispand a galley or something and rush it. Indeed I disband a regular galley and rush the temple.

11) 1560 - Delta Forse factory-university, WineVille colluseum-Palace (next turn it'll go back into WLTQD). York market-bank. Steve's Castle factory-cathedral. Floodlands factory-university, Steve's Cove harbor-aqueduct, St Steveville aqueduct-bank, SFTCo. temple-cathedral.

12) 1565 - Leeville factory-cathedral, roman block martket-harbor. Lotsa workers doing their thing, I'm redoing the mines around horsey town to be irrigation, since we can irrigate the plains but not the mountains, so I've irrigated all the plains and am beginning to mine all the mountains.

13) 1570 - ChrTh's Folly Heroic Epic-coal plant, new hispalis aqueduct-factory, horsey town courthouse-univ, Maui riots. Persians complete theory of evolution and start on Hoover Dam. One of our privateers offs a wounded ironclad of Persia.

At this point I decide to call it quits since i'm getting really tired and I'm not quite sure what the best course of action is at this point, so I'll let someone else take over.
Remember not to renew the furs deal with Xerxes - instead try to trade the Wines for either Incense or Gems, so we can get out of one of the two high-cost deals for his other 2 luxes.

1575 AD --After as long and glorious tenure of ErMac in helping to guide the people of England to greater destiny, term limits brought the era to a close. Now, the son of MacDuck Jr., MacDuck III has been elected by his Party to take over the PM positions. MacDuck immediately praised the former rule and noted that the navy program was truly creating a safe homeland and that this effort would continue on all fronts. The War on Rome was another policy of the last Administration that would be carried to its final conclusion. The year began by rushing through two factories and orders for another ironclad and citizen privateer was made. One of the first thing MacDuck did was to par from the science budget in such a way that medicine was not compromised and the earnings of the State went to +210 gold a year. Our units have become institutions! MacDuck also gave a speech to parliament where he outlined plans to bring our brothers of the small isolated continent, called Australia into the fold of Great Britain. Word was that recruitment posters for hardy settlers had gone out in two towns and that a Galleon fleet by Lahaina was dispatched south to Erik's Wales.

1580 AD -- This period brought more fruition on the front of Australia as heavy Calvary units landed to take out the Roman post. Once Rome is gone our settlers will have hopefully arrived and we will annex the rich gold fields and create a bridge across the continent and hook up with the Ivory Coast. Tensions run high with all but and MacDuck is certain that Britain will be castigated for eliminating Rome, but he know that as long as Rome lives, the terror forces inside the cities would be present in time of strife. Our navy reports a large concentration of Galleons with possible settlers was spotted by a reconnaissance mission of Ironclads. Privateers have been dispatched and one is being rushed in Western Wines in order to sink the fleet. If the fleet could be sunk it could end Iroquois attempts to colonize Australia.

1585 AD -- Our Naval intelligence tells us that the Iroquois have created a trade route between their new cities in Onnontare and their homeland. Our privateers are steaming to the area and more are on their way along with three Ironclad fleets and two men-O-War. If we can sink this fleet it will almost make the chances of an Iroquois invasion of Australia or us very unlikely. On a sadder note, the Ministry of Economics announced that our golden age has ended. We are still making +50 gold a turn but because our scientists are so close to medicine, we are able to carve a lion's share of the research budget back into the overall budget and get +228 gold in one era. THE ROMANS DEFEATED. The word came from London across the land as the last Roman city was destroyed. While the Persian may be at odds with us know it appears that the Egyptians and the Iroquois paths will cross with their aims sooner than ours. The French have a presence in Australia but for now we must address domestic issues although MacDuck has adopted a hawkish stance over eventual Australian inclusion into the realm of Great Britain.

1590 AD -- A quiet era on all fronts. Cities erupted into spontaneous parties and celebrations and the news of Rome's demise. The damned Iroquois fleet have successfully used the fog to evade our ships but the coming force will catch some ships and when they do it will be a blow to them. If the Iroquois keep their entire navy at home than the rule of Great Britain over the seas will be just as effective. Railroads are continuing to be built. Once again the Treasury Ministry does absolute fiscal magic with the books as they use the post-war "Era of Good Feelings" to decrease luxury spending, boost science so that Electricity can be had in 11 turns and we can still make +48 gold a turn. Once again the hard work of MacDuck's predecessor, ErMac II, had paved the way for a greater England.

1595 AD -- The Iroquois fleet continues to outmaneuver our fleet and the public embarrassment is causing the Admiralty fits. New Galleons have appeared off the Ivory Coast and our privateers are sadly out of position. The Era of Good Feelings is declined and budgetary problems now face MacDuck.

1600 AD -- Not much again as the Persian blight continues to haunt our every step, they have again extorted gold from our coffers. It appears that the only course may be to unite our common foes against this new scourge and make them pay for their braggart ways. On that note, MacDuck sent envoys to Egypt and although they would recognize no formal treaty with us they did sell Electricity for 700 gold. Now we can produce the Scientific Method and get ahead scientifically in these turbulent times while still earning +104 gold a turn. The Iroquois and now French Navy are growing in leaps and bounds and we must push, says MacDuck III, through any means necessary. Our government also sent a group of settlers to Ireland d to build a new town in the game rich lands unoccupied by the Iroquois and hopefully encumbers the heathen forces.

1605 AD -- A huge naval battle greets the PM as a fleet of brave private free men attacked and destroyed a fleet of French Ironclad who dare try and control the Australian waters. Bully to them says MacDuck and so do we! More navies are ordered along with coal plants and other production and economic improvements. Several groups of settlers have left for Australia where reports from cavalry units are that a major supply of gold has been found. Riches and glory await, boys!

1610 AD -- Our year begins with our envoys going to the Iroquois and negotiating for Sanitation. We have completed the Intelligence Agency and so it is felt that the sanitation will allow our cities to grow and realize the true economic engine of English Capitalism. Our fleet continues to pursue the Iroquois ships and more citizen ships move out. Our colonists are nearing the shores of Australia. The town of Hana was started in Ireland as a way to grab the remaining parcel of open, productive land and d to begin a campaign of improvements to bring the savage Iroquois the English way.

1615 AD -- This era brings not much change. A new tribe of Barbarians has fascinated scientists at the Natural Museum but the Ministry of Defense has dispatched a Calvary regiment to dispose of the war like tribe lest the Hun thwart our aims in the new continent. A decision to land the workers east in fertile lands was made since this would be the way to the gold fields.

1620 AD -- Once again our nation made slow but steady progress. The French dogs dared our fleet by trying to extort medicine from us, but we told them to bugger off ands they capitulated under the power of our fleet. A strong g fleet is proving an adept defense and the Admiralty was given the go-ahead to continue a reduced but steady supply ships. The Iroquois have landed and started a city on the southeast end of the new continent. They too dispatched a Calvary unit but we thwarted them. They are in range of our civilians but our Calvary is ready to protect them. Another group of ancient Stone Age warriors also attempted a raid on the former town of Antium, but they too were cut down. Our reserves are high and so is our spirits.

1625 AD -- Our diplomatic corp has weaved their deviltry again. Xerxes sent an envoy to London to discontinue our Dyes agreement. Our Foreign Office persuaded them to look at the money they would save even if they spent 20 gold a turn and continued the dyes deals. The deal is struck for Dyes and they will pay us 19 gold a turn. WTLQD breaks out at the news that the stores will have the finest dyes available for some time. Mixed news came in from the Corsair fleets. One fleet of Privateers pursued and neatly sunk an unattended Iroquois vessel but was lost at the last melee. Near the Ivory Coast, one of our most daring Captains encountered a fleet of Ironclads and Caravels. Stout English seamanship made the difference as we unsuccessfully sank the Ironclad. Other vessels are on the way to destroy the lone Caravel and the wounded Galleon. Other corsairs are moving towards a Frigate and a galleon spotted off our southern shores. High hopes abound in the Admiralty that the Iroquois navy will suffer if we can dispatch these ships. One of our wounded citizen vessels has placed itself in an area where hopefully the Iroquois frigate wills pu8nce on it putting it in range of three fleets of corsairs. Our workers began roads in Australia and Antium was renamed Perth.

1630 AD -- WAR WITH THE IRIQIOUS! The headlines announce tat they had the gaul rot demand Wines from us and made threats to the crown. Their actions were premeditated as their suddenly peaceful troops launched attacks at us. The Iroquois took Hana and ceasersugustus, but our ships will now move in and destroy them. Our diplomats may have won the war for they went to xerxes and managed to get the Persians to jion us in a war against the Iroquois. Although it cost 70 gold a turn and 700 up front, they powerful Persians will help to grin the Iroquois to dust with their tanks and infantry. With that came an immediate thawing of relations. Both the war against the godless savages and the new alliance with our Persian brethren has caused the populace to explode in joy. More Calvary and riflemen are being built to sweep into Australia and destroy their navy. Pollution has also struck our lands near Steveopolis and Wineville. Our workers have been diverted into a new Ministry of Hazardous Materials to being immediate clean up. The city of Darwin is started and more troops are racing to the continent. Our fleet has destroyed a fleet of Galleons and is chasing the Caravel down. Our troops have moved to invade Ireland in force and take back the island

1635 AD -- Our fleets have suffered a humiliating retreat in Australia. In order to protect our settlers and laborers they were all whisked aboard the Galleons and force to beat a retreat. One fleet steamed towards the Ivory Coast while the other raced towards the protection of the oncoming English fleet more Calvary, riflemen and Ironclads are being produced. Our ironclads were lost to a fleet of Galleons and although this puzzles most greatly, the Admiralty wasn't surprised given how man victories the Corsairs have had against Ironclads of other nations.

1640 AD -- Our troops mass in the mountains near Ceaseraugustus and have formed an Army that will hopefully force the infidels from our homes. The Iroquois navy has turn and run, but the bad news is that infantry have been spotted in Iroquois cities. Any type of landing will have to be a massive one in their homeland is we are to put the knife to them. More riflemen, ironclads, a galleon and more riflemen are ordered up.

1645 -- The era found our troops attacking two divisions of mounted warriors and successfully destroying one. Our large force in Ireland successfully took back Ceaseraugustus ands sent three divisions racing towards the other Iroquois cities. The Persians are enroute with a sophiscated modern navy so it is important that we seize the cities so that their forces are sent towards the Iroquois homeland. Our troops are massing on the frontier with the Iroquois homeland and we hope to create a massive force that can punch through their northern regions. We realize that because of our tech that we are falling behind so it will take numbers for us to defeat our enemies.

1650 -- our masses of troops have landed in the Iroquois homeland, but already there are forces in place to meet us. The Landing could be the biggest battle of the war. Our forces have successfully taken Jerusalem and now by order of MacDuck we have renamed Jerusalem and Ceaseraugustus, Belfast and Dublin, respectively. The Iroquois fleet appears to have given us the slip...for now. The Persian navy is steaming towards the North Pole with settlers, which is odd.

1655 AD -- Good news outweighs the bad in this fine era. The war against the Iroquois has gone better than expected. A wave of 4 English Calvary and rifleman inflicted heavy losses on the Iroquois destroying 3 Calvary 2 Mounted Warriors and a Knight. WE have enough for a second wave but rather than get crushed the Admiralty is holding the Galleon of the seas until another Galleon arrives. A third galleon is very close to being produced and 10 units of Calvary and riflemen stand ready for the second. The other news is that our man-O-War has see Persian destroyers coming and if we weight our landing can coincide with theirs. More pollution has broken out near London and workers fro the failed Australia landing are being integrated into Haz Mat.

1660 AD -- Nothing much happened except for our fleets getting into position. Our Army managed to inflict great wounds on the infantry and our riflemen were successful in destroying their Calvary unit in Ireland. Our riflemen have moved in and cut off the city and re-enforcements are on the way.

1665 AD -- Our navies are victorious again! A fleet of Galleons attempted to run the blockade around New Cartucus, but Ironclads destroyed them before they could escape. The Persian fleet's intentions are still a mystery as it passed the northern end of the main island, but we plan to land in force as planned, says MacDuck and his staff at the War Department. The frigate group and galleon escaped but we plan to make a second landing there to take that city and destroy the fleet.
IRELAND IS OURS! The last Iroquois city on Ireland fell and the people of the Emerald Isle cheered their liberators. Our forces have landed and must begin their deluge soon. The Generals plan to slice down the Western side of the island and link up with a Galleon and send troops to Australia as well. Hopefully the Persians will land on the East side soon. Our ships continue to successfully destroy improvements in Australia and the Iroquois homeland. Another Galleon is filled with more troops for the onslaught.

1670 AD -- Our troops have successfully destroyed another attack and have managed to whittle down the defenses of the Iroquois northern area. We feel confident that the towns will fall soon, especially since the Persians have been seen making their way for a landing on the other side of the continent. The war is turning in our favor and although we have had riots and such we have to bite the proverbial bullet and take a loss economically so we can achieve Replaceable Parts in 3 turns and begin producing infantry.

At the end of 1670 the term of PM MacDuck III comes to a close. In the beginning the country of England faced uncertain times but now through crafty alliances and military assertiveness Ireland was free and it looks as if the Iroquois menace will have its days numbered.

I'm here, but I'm afraid it seems like Open SGs just die out like this sometimes. I'll play another turn if you'll play a turn in the OSG WM01 that's down the list somewhere. :) It's the custom map one. I'd really hate for that one to die too.

I'll try to play a turn with this a bit later.

Preturn: Because I'm a lazy bum I turn on the govenors in all the cities to del with the unhappiness cause by war weariness, with emphasis on production. I consider mobilizing but I want a better picture of where everything is so I'll wait for next turn. I drop science rate by 1 so we aren't losing money, replacement parts will take 1 turn longer.

1) 1675 - Our ironclads work a few iroquois frigates. I decide too many place are in need of hospitals and such and so I don't mobilize yet. I notice Wineville is 5 turns away from a Palace... I had had it prebuilding for Hoover but we aren't even close to getting Electronics yet, so I work around the people there so that it'll take 13 more turns to complete the palace. Hopefully I won't have to start starving people so it doesn't get built, but we could really really use hoover. Hopefully I can race towards it after Replacement parts.

I decide I really do want to mobilize, so I change over production of every city with size 9 or higher to hospital if it doesn't already have one, and any cities without aqueducts gets switched to that, and then I mobilize.

We take Palmyra, I don't raze it because it's only pop 5 and having a foothold on the continent is important. I switch it over to barracks so we can have a healing station. I then also manage to take Chondote, which already HAS a barracks so I change Palmyra over to rifleman.

2) 1680 - Nothing much happens, I kill many units but make no offensive yet. Next turn we'll have an army of cavalry on their continent.

I stopped keeping track of turnby turn here and just started writing important events.

We sign right of passage with egypt because they won't ally with us against the iroqoius and I don't want them declaring war on us. They ask for wines, I give. I also just donate them spices to appease them.

We get replacement parts, but we realy have no hope right now of researching atomic theory anytime soon so I instead focus on getting money so we can get espionage going.

I take Oka, but raze the city below it and replace it with York.

One of persia's destroyers annihilates one of our privateers.

The persians are in the modern age by now - we're half way thru the industrial age. Egypt isn't caught up with Persia, however. We have an agent in both Thebes and Persopolis by strokes of good luck, but it costs major money to steal tech safely but still will be easier than researching it ourselves.

We take Caesarea, we get a hero which I'm gonna use back home to rush a palace or forbidden palace later because we've realy got to get our corruption under control on the homeland, although I think the FP must go in the Iroqoius lands if we'll want them to be productive, so a simple repositioning of the main palace may suffice - or we could just call the roman cities on the other side of our continent a wash and forget about them. Then again same could be said of the Iroqoius cities. I'll have to think about it.

We take Gewauga.

After a cr4pload of artillery bombardment we take Tyendenaga. It got bombed all the way down to 1 pop point.
We keep taking more cities after bombing them and then finishing them off with our cavalry armies. I build the pentagon and now we can put 4 cavs in each.

Basically this goes on for a while. We've got two huge stacks of artillery that are pounding cities into submission before we take them with our armies. DO NOT try to take a city with infantry without 1) bombarding it and 2) attacking with a Cav army. Our cavs' 6 attack cannot stand up to the 10 defense of an infantry on a 1-1 battle.
