This took ages. Clearly I'm spending far too much time writing the log and worrying about the situation I'm going to leave the next person. Analysis paralysis I believe. In any case, here we are.
Crush the Iroquois!
I didn't complete 20 turns, only 10. Sorry about that. Ran out of time.
Summary:
We are progressing well. Whilst everyone pretty much loathes us,
the Iroquois are well on the way to extinction and can no longer
field cavalry. We do have to bolster relations with the two superpowers though. Important troop dispositions are in the last
log entry.
The Log.
This is my first log for a succession game, so it took me a while to
find my style. Next time it will be a great deal more succinct.
Preturn
Nottingham, Akwesasne - infantry -> walls, rushed. Protect our Cav stationed there.
Tyendenaga close enough to front line to make walls worthwhile, rushed too.
Skannay still in resistance and Caesarea too far gone with rifleman to build walls.
Wake Cav unit guarding artillery outside Nottingham, capture exposed Iroquois worker south west of Skannay, return cav to guard duty.
Xerses won't take anything sensible for the Corporation - Oil has got to be the next big thing - and Joan hasn't got anything we're interested in.
---
We come under attack at Nottingham, Akwesasne, sustained attack at Skannay, Cav charge our artillery outside Kente, we hold fast.
Steveopolis Cav -> Cav
HotTown Infantry -> Infantry
Wineville Cav -> Cav
LeeVille Cav -> Cav
Akwesasne Walls -> Barracks
Maui Temple -> Infantry
Tyendenga Walls -> Barracks
Nottingham walls -> Galleon!
Brighton Cav -> Infantry (short lead time)
Goodstuff Cav -> Barracks
Jbocaster Infantry -> Cav (long lead time - went for quicker build)
Skannay realises that resistence is futile.
----
My plan is to concentrate on Oil Springs, then Niagra Falls - the taking of which will net us some fine silks but more importantly nail one of the two sources of Iroquois horseflesh.
My second objective is to send a force down through the inland sea to take and hold the second horse grounds - neatly shutting off Iroquois home-grown Cav. We can see about getting the others to embargo them later.

News From The Front.
Oil Springs - Sea Bombardment wounds the garrisoned infantry.
Cav attack finishes the infantry off but we lose a Cav.
Oil Springs is now protected by a Cav, but we have no other units in range.
Damn - maybe should have livend up support from Akwesasne last go.
Nottingham - bagged a Cav retreating from assault on Nottingham.
Artillery bombardment of Kente pretty much reduces it to rubble, 1 citizen, heavily hit garrison. Cavalry units recently bought ashore in Palmyra make short work of them, taking the city and sustaining no losses. Reinforced with additional Infantry.
Skannay hurries walls.
Remaining riflemen in Chondote upgraded to Infantry.
Artillery and Cav escort from outside Nottingham redeployed to Western Front, reinforced with
Rifleman contingent from Chondote.
News from our Green and Pleasant Land.
A somewhat masculine-looking Boudecia garrisoned in the relatively well protected Westernwines.
Troops mustered and ferried to the front.
Enemy Action.
We sustain acceptable losses outside Oil Springs and Kente.
Xerses' battleships helpfully blow up railroads near Oil Springs that we want to use once
we take it. D'oh.

News From The Front.
Oil Spring falls to combined Naval bombardment and Cav attack. The one remaining citizen looks remarkably pleased to see us. We also nail a maurading Cav unit outside.
Artillery rumbles towards the front and is unloaded when the trains can go no further. Unexploded Persian 15inch shells found amongst the mangled rails.
Nottingham proudly launches HMS Audacious, laden with three Cavalry and one Infantry division. This is something of a risk, as Cattaraugus has a harbour and could churning out something quite nasty to meet us. I'm taking the risk because we haven't come under bombardment from this stretch of water and besides I don't want to commit too many naval resources to a landlocked sea.
Ganogeh comes under artillery bombardment, destroying the marketplace, temple and barracks!
Kente hurries walls.
Oil Springs hurries walls.
News From Our Green and Pleasant Land.
London grows an unsightly orange blob. Better get that cleaned up before anyone sees it.
11 new infantry and Cav units ferried across the Straits.
Bargain Hunt.
Xerses still wants over $2000 for The Corporation. I still don't think it's the right time to buy as it will leave us low on liquidities. Everyone else still has a closed market.
Enemy Action.
Light. We lose 1 Cav on worker protection duty for 1 of their's dead plus another down to 1. We lose the worker also though.

News From The Front.
Ganogeh continues to be pummelled. Civilian casualties mounting.
Oioguen comes under naval attack.
We nail infantry that had snuck into the mountains near Skannay.
HMS Audacious makes it round the Horn of Ganogeh without incident. Halfway there!
A swift Cavalry sortie recaptures our errant worker.
News From Our Green and Pleasant Land
Our military recruitment continues apace. We really don't need all these cavalry at the front. I'm now beginning to create a National Guard, in case someone gets into their bonnetted head that we have a defenseless motherland.
Enemy Action.
Annoying. An Iroquois Cav nipped past our advance guard and attacked Oil Springs direct. I thought we were going to lose a fortified infantry to its' attack, but fortunately we fought back from 1 to take him out. Glad I built the walls. We lost a Cav in the mountains near Skannay and a couple of workers who'd wandered off on some auto-business or other.

News From The Front.
Our Ironclads open up on the Iro horse corrals near Niagra. We take out the rails but not the road. Try again in two years time.
We open up with our artillery on Niagra, by the look of their pop figure - 7- have been undertaking some heavy drafting. The citz ain't going to be happy. Doesn't matter. Niagra has to go. There is no way we can prevent a city so close to Salamanca flipping
back if we take it intact. We take and raise Niagra with the loss of one Cav.
We pull a settler in from the coast and, in 1758, Weasel-on-Tweed is founded next to a big fat pile of silkworms. Someday everyone will have a suit bearing the Weasel logo.
I have to pull some artillery and a Cav army out of Skannay to deal with Iro infantry that had dug into the mountains north of Nottingham. Didn't want him breaking anything important.
We win a couple of Cav skirmishes near Skannay without loss, recovering our workers in the process.
News From Our Green and Pleasant Land
More troops. Roughly 25% are now staying at home as a reserve.
Bargain Hunt.
Both Xerses and Cleo will part will Corporation for $1950. Interestingly, if I set the initial bargain to 1950 and then plug in one of newly-found silks in preparation for altering the monetary content, I get 'They never would accept' - even though I have just
offered more than previously! So, I forgot about the tech and offered him the silk. With his arm up his back he is now paying 87 per turn to us for it! Time to talk to Cleo about the Corp. In the end she takes $1904 with which she can presumably by a new hat. She's still furious though. Perhaps it's on too tight ?
Enemy Action
Light. We lose 1 cav.

News From The Kitchen.
I'm in trouble for taking too long over this. Sorry - I'm going to have to speed this up.
News From The Front.
Artillery moves in range of Salamanca. I'm going to take out it's roads and screw their trade. Our cavalry shut down the horse trading from just outside Weasel.
HMS Audacious arrives! The troops disembark.
We take Ganogeh. Our aim now is get firepower down the coast to support the Audacious.
Enemy Action.
Xerxes makes up with Hiawatha.
France ends its trade embargo with us.
We lose a couple of Cav.

News From The Front.
We blow up some roads around Salamanca. Hiawatha ain't going to be happy.

More troops. More.
Bargain Hunt.
Uh-oh. Xerses is now furious. Why ? Crinkley-haired get. Better keep an eye on that one.
No one wants to dish up refining. We may have to do it ourselves.
Enemy Action.
Light. We lose 1 cav.

News From The Front.
We sever the second supply of horses.
The Audacious' relief column takes Neodakheat.
News From Our Green and Pleasant Land
I ROP with Xerxes. It may cost us a little territory in the Iroquois homelands but I didn't want Xerses stabbing us in the back when we can least deal with it.
I sent the settlers languishing in Palmyar over the island occupied by the remnants of the French empire. I think we're going to take most of the remaining Iro cities intact.
Bargain Hunt.
Still no dice on anything useful.
Enemy Action.
Moderate. We lose 3 cav, but he loses 2 and he ain't getting any
new ones.

News From The Front.
Salamanca is now cut off. Iro cav should now dwindle.
We take Oioguen for no loss.
News From Our Green and Pleasant Land
I'm beginning to get a little concerned about our production. I'm going to scale down our Cav output slightly because (eventually) we're going to be stuck with a load of units we can't upgrade. I don't really want to sign a peace deal as we're within striking distance of taking the Iroquios. I could sign, (if he will speak, I haven't checked), demobilise and redeclare war immediately. I don't know what this does to whatever rep we have left though,
so I'm reluctant to do it in a game where other people have to follow on.
[/B]Bargain Hunt.[/B]
We can have Communism for a mere $2300. I can hardly contain myself.
Enemy Action.
Xerxes demanded a TM and 100 gold. I gave it to him. We're too vulnerable to his tech and at least he's only annoyed with us now. I'm going to butter up Bonnethead with some classy
English gifts and see if I can shift her stance too. We may need to start some friction between them.
1770.
News From The Front.
Damn it. Skanny Flipped. My armies are out of position to retake it this turn as they are poised to assault elsewhere. I'm assembling a new Cav army on the north coast so I can take back it next turn.
News From Our Green and Pleasant Land
More troops on the way, plus a couple of National Guard thrown in good measure.
Enemy Action.
We get an extra $1 per turn from Xerses for our spices.
The Iro are now having to field longbowmen.
1772
News from the Front.
We take back Skannay after the single artillery battery I assigned to support the assualt blew up the walls with its one shot! I will not rebuild the walls here given it has now demonstrated a tendancy to flip.
Goigouen fell, but expensively. 3 Cav dead and one severly wounded - that after a considerable artillery pounding.
News From Our Green and Pleasant Land/ Summary
National Guard is garrisoned on the grasslands South west of Steveopolis. They're not doing a great deal at the moment.
Troops ready for embarkation are south of Hottown.
Artillery is pounding Salamanca, though there are no plans to invade the city.
Artillery is also situated on the south east coast in two groups, one of which has just levelled Goigougen.
Two groups of settlers are in galleons on the east and west coast of the French continent. I have no fixed ideas on where they should land.
Maybe worth another Bargain Hunt to see if anyone is selling. I haven't as yet offered any gifts to Cleo, though that would be my recommendation. If the next player agrees, I suggest we do it in order to cover ourselves slightly.
I still haven't started any research. We need to decide our policy on this soon.
