B02: God is an American

OK, I got it. Does the team have any advise before I play my turns?

Keep cramming towns in the north, head for military tradition and prepare an assault force to attack the germans. We need to build something up for them - it might be too late already for cavs, but we could have a good artillery war with them. In any case, they need to lose a few towns, and we need room to breathe and breed new temples and libs.

B02 – 750AD (pre-turn):

- 391G, +9gpt, Magnetism due in 3.
- Our army is pathetic: 8 workers, 4 warriors, 1 sword, 6 cav., 2 galleys, 3 MDI, 2 AC. We are rated weak vs. Germany, Korea, England & Arabia, rated avg. vs. Japan and strong vs. Iro.
- MM Houston to get duct faster (size 6), no other changes.

<IBT: Chicago duct => cannon.>

T1 760: Start shifting some workers farther south to improve hills around Atlanta.

<IBT: S. Fran. granary => rax.>

T2 770: zzz

<IBT: Magnetism => Steam Power; hit ‘big picture’, Germany know Nationalism, England knows Steam and Nationalism, so does Korea, but no deals are possible; Washington cav. => cav.; Delaware MP => library; we lose gems.>

T3 780: Trade Japan Banking for gems & 3G.

<IBT: Bismark demands TM and 38G – I reluctantly agree since I don’t think we can take them on right now; NYC cav. => cav.; English complete Newtons.>

T4 790: zzz

<IBT: Atlanta MP => musket.>

T5 800: zzz

<IBT: nada.>

T6 810: zzz

<IBT: Wash. cav. => cav.; Phil. rax. => musket.>

T7 820: zzz

<IBT: Krasnoyarsk duct => library.>

T8 830: zzz

<IBT: NYC cav. => cav.; S. Fran. rax. => musket; palace expands.>

T9 840: zzz

<IBT: Boston MP => cannon.>

T10 850: zzz

All in all a boring set of turns. Other than a few MM tweaks along the way, not much going on. Basically I wanted to beef up our forces some more before we take on Germany. Teddy Roosevelt said ‘Speak softly and carry a big stick’. Well, we don’t seem to have any stinking sticks here – positively un-American! Hopefully I didn’t depart from the variant too much when I caved in to Bismark, but it seemed unwise to take him on with such a long and lightly-defended border. The AI loves to dogpile on weaklings like ourselves.

Too bad he declared already, we're off timing a bit. I'm sure we can catch up from this, or at least get a fast peace until we have RP and artilleries.

Brother Bede's turn.

So how many cities do I get to give up this time?

Got it. Play tomorrow.

We are in a world o'hurt, again....

No defense in the north, German cavalry all over the place.

Send the cav from Washington north, kill a couple of Germans. Plant some cav in St Pete,don't know if it will hold.

Reorganize the citiznery to pump the income. And sell some lux around for the same result.

And the Germans come right down our throat. Valdivostok, Cincinnati, Denver, and Baltimore are captured, Yakutsk burned and now every cavalryman I have is out of position.

Kazan, Memphis, Novosibirsk and Yaroslvl' are given to the Japanese.

In 950 Seattle is next to fall to Germany, then St Louis, and then every city remaining riots....

By 970 we are so done....

There is not much left.

bef02_990.jpg

And in 990 Korea and Japan sign an alliance against us. And Germany strikes the heartland.

bef02_1010.jpg

And by 1020 we are exiled to the island and the Germans will take Tver for peace.

bef02_1020.jpg

I think we have hit the wall, screwed the pooch, bought the farm....at least we have horses, no iron, no luxuries, not much money....

Brutal... I was afraid Germany might go into blitzkreig mode. Looks like its 'game over' for us.

As for the Jerry's cavalry just count the survivors and add add one per city captured. He had at least that many +-3

I guess Hitler was hiding behind Otto's bush and dictated him to victory. It was fun while it lasted; gg guys.

Wow, that last pic is amazing. They totally "blitzed" our undefended cities. Like I said in the other post, I think this was a very hard varient, but still shocked that they steamrolled us so fast.

Our core of cities never got up and running. :sad:

Maybe a new American variant?

Thanks for hosting the game, Beorn.

Americans are, for me, the hardest nation.

It takes a great deal of patience and persistence. An AGRI nation on the same start would have built a really productive core by the early Middle Ages when tech costs start to hurt.

We could start again as the Celts, same map?

Or keep trying the Americans and you guys can teach this old dog some new tricks.
