B04: What if they were wrong?

preturn: Our economy is absolutely stuffed. We probably would have been better off researching ourselves rather than paying 6000+ for techs we couldn't trade on to others. Doesn't matter.

960: wake up settler, send it to northern tundra

980: Cologne founded

990: Peace with england, we get 76 gold, 5 gpt

1000: Steam to england for another 9gpt

1010: Medicine to Rome, Steam to Hittites to renew lux deals. We get 5 gpt and 30ish cash too

1040: Swampland founded on S island

1050: Electricity to Hittites gets us Sanitation, WM, 61gpt, 84 gold
Electricity, Industrialisation & Sanitation to Dutch gets us Nationalism, 20gpt, 50 gold.
By putting the capital on wealth (it has factory & coal plant), and MMing for a whole lot of scientists in our corrupt cities, Scientific Method is down to 9 turns, and we are still at +15gpt. We have started a ToE prebuild, it will hit 600 shields in 9 turns, so hopefully we get it, and atomic theory and electronics lets us trade back into the tech race. We're currently at least 6 techs down on the leading civs.

I must admit having been scared a bit by all those techs we were late on from the Monarchic "IA payback" of science. I probably traded too hastily where we could have worked stuff up ourselves.

Has anyone started ToE? If not, I'm pretty sure we will get it. That prebuild sounds pretty damn sharp.

Yes, there are a couple of AIs 3-5 turns into ToE. I think U Suff was already built before my turns, so there's no available cascades. By the time our prebuild hits 600, AIs will have had a maximum of ~15 turns, so as long as they're not in 40+spt turn cities, we're safe.
 
Beorn, I'm off civ until the weekend so as much as I want to I can't take it. RL... still. The days are long in the summer and I don't stay home. So this will be a skip, though I'm using my work hours to lurk.
Don't you love summer :D
 
I'll call this a :bump: if Viper doesn't call it tonight (TUE) and lean towards SW for the turns. And Khan, glad you're having a good time :D - it's all that really matters in the end.

Right now there isn't much to report about the verbotting. Can't cross Zulu borders, must wait until panzers to invade more islands - both things we will do anyways I'm araid.
 
'kay got it. will not start war. had a look, will probably build hospital at B. Only thing missing is prebuild for Hoover, but don't see anywhere to put it.
 
This game hasn't had a lightning pace, Admiral, so that's pretty much within the normality of things around here ;)

I believe this is the first game ever where I lived to the IA and missed ToE not-on-purpose. Trading is in order indeed, although th friendly AI's will probably have gotten one real free tech and wasted the first of the 2 on a 3/4 researched tech :crazyeye:

My gut says that a bit espionnage can do us more good. It may be the same, but at least the AI doesn't get our money, they go poof...
