How could the editing guys miss that one - unless it was intended? And assuming that, what could be the meaning behind these obscene hand gestures?

Maybe it was just a rogue child actor, knowing that he had to do something lasting with his fleeting fame he resorted to subtle obscenity to ensure the fascination of movie buffs for eternity. If that truly was his motive, it was genius. Verne, you are awesome.
