This is the view I take. Diffuse him and be done.

I'd do it for anyone committing mass murders in their God's name, be it Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, or PinkTeacupist. For that matter, I'd do it for anyone committing mass murders for any criminal enterprise - if someone were to go around beheading Linux users, I'd bury them with a bunch of shattered or melted Windows CDs and plant a "M$ $ucks!" flag on their grave.

Personally, I think the sort of people who advocate this are the kind of people who like to fight (mostly from their armchairs though). They don't want security, they just want to trumpet their nation or creed's own greatness (with someone else's blood of course).
